Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there's no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can't fix, it's Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin's kids, she gets pulled back into the life she's tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past-and build a future with him? (Dream Man Series, Book 3)

I absolutely LOVE Mitch Lawson! Great book!

What made the experience of listening to Law Man the most enjoyable?

already knowing the book and what's to happen and listening to it brought it to life even more than my technicolor theater head does when reading!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Law Man?

When Mara and Mitch were arguing in his kitchen with his mom and sister there about being a team for the kids. as well as...When Mara admitted to being a family. and when Mitch loved Mara in her LBD.

Have you listened to any of Kate Russell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only with Dream Man series, really good job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I love all of the Dream Man series but I think Mitch is my favorite! so yes, I wanted to listen to it all at once, but I'm glad there is a pause button so I can eat :)

Good story

This was my first story by Kristen Ashley and I enjoyed it immensely. The Heroine in the story was a little wishy-washy but other than that the voices that the narrator did were terrific especially for the children

Sweet, Endearing & Sexy

Kristen Ashley is a goddess. I swear the woman can write any character in any situation and make me fall in love. Law Man is book #3 in the Dream Man series and it rocked! I am seriously thinking this woman can't write anything wrong.

Mara Hanover has escaped her hell of an upbringing (if that's what you can call it) by the skin of her teeth. Raised by trailer trash she left her home 13 years ago and has never looked back. The only ties she has with her family is through her loser of a cousin's kids. She rescues these kids on a regular basis. When the loser cousin goes on a binder the kids run away and call Auntie Mara to come get them. She feeds them, cleans them and clothes them, then take them back to their father when he's sobered up. This time he has gone too far. He is drugged out and completely oblivious to the children and what he's putting them through. Unlucky for him, this all goes down at the time when Mara seems to have attracted the attention of her super hot police detective neighbor, Mitch Lawson. Mara has to learn to deal with her biggest enemy first...her self image.

"You look nice. You dress nice. You smell nice. You have a fantastic fucking laugh. You're loyal. You're loving. And, honey, every time I'd see you in the breezeway or at a party, it was cute as all fuckin' hell even as it was just as frustrating how you'd tuck that hair behind your ear, avoid me like the plague and get the fuck away from me as fast as you could. Since that moron you used to date left the picture, I've been waitin' for my shot and it sucks that it comes with you cryin' in my arms and those kids learnin' early that life can really suck. But if takin' that shot means puttin' up with that shit and comes with you bein' where you are right now rather than hiding behind your door and retreating into that world in your head, I'll put up with that shit in order to take it".

Mitch Lawson has admired Mara for over 4 years, but she avoids him like the plague. He sees that she's shy and uncomfortable around him, but he can't seem to figure it out. She's so outgoing and personable with the other neighbors. He has no idea that the reason for her discomfort around him is she has this really whacked rating system, where she sees him as a 10.5 and her barely a 2.5. Seeing she's gotten herself in a situation with taking in her cousins and trying to give them the life they deserve is the perfect chance for him to get close to her. The fact that he's fallen in love with the kids himself is just a bonus.

"Life goes like I hope, you'll be dancin' with Mara at your wedding and your sister will be dancing with me at hers."

This book was amazing! I completely fell in love with Mitch Lawson. This book would be a 5 star rating for sure if it wasn't for the fact that so much of Mara's dialogue with Mitch revolved around the word Uh or Umm. This really drove me crazy. I get that she is shy and feels like she is out of her league when it comes to Mitch, but jeesh after the first 100 pages or so I think she should be able to form a sentence.

However, you will not be disappointed. Mitch Lawson will always have a special place in my heart, Mara is a wonderful person to take on her cousins and give them the life they deserve and the kids are fantastic and funny.

Love it!

Love this book in the Dream Man series! My recommendation for this series is to make sure that you read it all in the right order. Also - read the Rock Chick series first! Like K. Ashley often does, she has pulled in characters from other series. This one has lots of the Hot Guy Bunch from the Rock Chick series.

Great addition to the series!! Loved it! :D

4.5-5 stars

This is a great book. Mitch is awesome and has been from the first book in the series. It's great to see him get his girl and Mara is great once she lets him in. :D

Mara is a sweetheart and all her friends love her. The problem is that she has a skewed view of herself (thinks she's a 2.5 on a scale of 1-10) that she's had since she was growing up. Because of this she's painfully shy and, although she's crushed on Mitch when she'd see him around the apartment building, she always avoided Mitch because of this. She's scared of allowing herself to consider she could have anything with Mitch because she thinks he's a 10.5 (on a scale of 1-10) and she couldn't possibly risk her heart on such a foolhardy prospect...so she avoids him. Things change when she has a plumbing issue and Mitch ends up helping her out.

Mitch is a great guy. He's been interested in Mara for a while but never was able to get an opening to get to know her better. When he hears about a plumbing issue she has he offers to help and starts trying to get dates with her. Things don't go smoothly at first. Firstly because of her self-image problems that restrict her from seriously considering he might actually want her. Then as he's starting to try to get past that she ends up having to save her cousins when he happens to be with her. This ends up changing all their lives greatly.

Mara loves her cousins and has tried to look out for them. Their father gets in to trouble and she takes custody of the kids unexpectedly. Mitch wants to help but she tries to keep him at arms length. Being a new mom of 2 kids isn't easy and Mara is trying to tough it out but finally Mitch manages to get her to let him help. Then he manages to get through her walls and get her to work with him in their relationship as well as raising the kids.

After this things go as smoothly as can be expected. There are some issues with Mara's estranged mother and great-aunt trying to take the 2 kids away from her and other ongoing issues. This freaks Mara out because Mitch gets to see the background she came from but it ends up being a good thing because he sees how strong she was to leave that behind and make a good life for herself. It was pretty cool seeing them build their relationship as well as a family together. Mitch fell for the kids as much as he did Mara and made sure they knew it. The story is very strong emotionally and I found myself tearing up multiple times.

This is a great story. I really enjoyed it and loved Mitch and Mara. Mitch totally lives up to the name he gets in Motorcycle Man, Big Hearted Mitch. Obviously, I've already read the next in the series but I love it so I'll be rereading it. This story was very worth the read. I'd recommend it. 2 thumbs up! :D

12/22 - The review above is from when I read the Kindle version of the book. I just did a reread by listening to this in audiobook format. This is still a great book and it did great in audio. The narrator did a very good job on this. :D

The Dream Man Series is redeemed!

Any additional comments?

KA hit it out of the park with Mitch and Mara. After struggling through Brock and Tess' story, I did what I always do and read the reviews about the next book. I saw a common theme that Law Man was worth reading, and people were right.

Mitch is a very strong minded guy and knows what he wants. Now that he has a "in" he's not letting it go. It's a good thing that he has a one tracked mind because Mara isn't going to make it easy for him.

I listened to this book in about 2 days. I couldn't shut my Audible app down! Get ready for some major twists and turns, because this book will bring you for a ride!
