Lair of the Lion | [Christine Feehan]

Lair of the Lion

The Beauty-Impoverished aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue her imprisoned brother. Though fear formed a fist around her heart, she'd even brave the haunted, accursed lair of the lion - the menacing palazzo of legendary, lethal Don Nicolai DeMarco. The Beast-Rumor said the powerful don could command the heavens, that the beast below did his bidding. . . and that he was doomed to destroy the woman he took as his wife.

Publisher's Summary

The Beauty-Impoverished aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue her imprisoned brother. Though fear formed a fist around her heart, she'd even brave the haunted, accursed lair of the lion - the menacing palazzo of legendary, lethal Don Nicolai DeMarco. The Beast-Rumor said the powerful don could command the heavens, that the beast below did his bidding. . . and that he was doomed to destroy the woman he took as his wife. It was whispered he was not wholly human - as untamed as his tawny mane and slashing amber eyes. The Bargain-But Isabella met a man whose growl was velvet, purring heat, whose eyes held dark, all-consuming desire. And when the don commanded her to become his bride, she went willingly into his muscled arms, praying she'd save his tortured soul. . . not sacrifice her life. . .

    "loved this book"

I half to say that I finished this book in two days. I had a hard time putting my eye pod down. this was a beauty and the beast story updated or allot more grown up I was enchanted from the start with this story line I highly recommend this book to everyone except the young because the sex is very graphic this is a rated R book for sex but a lovely story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

    "draws you in"

This is my first experience with this author and I greatly enjoyed it. It took a while to get used to the reader but was worth it. It draws you in with interesting characters and a dark theme.

    "Lair of the Lion"

From the moment I listened to Rebecca Cook narrate this wonderful journey I was hooked. Christine Feehan has a way with words that lure you into her fantasy world - I couldnt put my ipod down. Her amazing ability to make the unreal possible makes her a wonderful story teller - Here's to another success story Christine!!!

    "So-So"

Modern version of Beauty and the Beast. The story was too shallow and missing the details. Good distration with a few staem parts.

    "terrible accents, couldn't finish"

This is the first audiobook I've never finished. I just couldn't bear the narrator's voice and her terrible attempts to render the Italian accent. I couldn't even get through the over-long story to find out the "mystery" at the end.

The narrator switches awkwardly between what must be her normal American accent and one of the worst European (meant possibly to be Italian) accents I've ever heard. Smatterings of Italian in the text meant to make things seem more exotic only emphasize her inability with the language.

The story, what I could gather of it, was both dull, nonsensical (even for a myth story) and inconsistent. I'm sorry I wasted a credit on this and have deleted it from my computer

    "Lair of the Lion"

I enjoyed most of C Feehan's audio books. Very disappointed with this version...very fragmented, repetitious, and boring. If the male protagonist have been more involved, it would have been more interesting. Rebecca Cook did a fine job narrating.
