Publisher's summary

Scotland, 1344.

She believes men are not honorable nor are they kind-until she meets one that changes her heart forever.

Betrayed by lies told before her birth, Aishlinn is raised by a harsh and cruel stepfather. Her life is forever changed one horrifying night when she is forced to flee England for the safety of the Scottish Highlands. Rescued by a fierce band of highland warriors, Aishlinn soon learns that honorable men do exist. She finds a strength she never knew she possessed and it will be tested to the limits when she is forced to make a heart-wrenching decision…allow the English to kill those she loves, or surrender for the crime she committed.

She is everything he never knew he wanted in a woman…

As a fierce highland warrior, Duncan McEwan has survived numerous battles, bed countless women, and survived a horrific storm at sea. He has scaled mountains and even survived hand-to-claw battle with a cat-o'mountain. But none of that could have prepared him for how his life forever changed one fateful spring day when he rescued a lass from a freezing stream. He will do anything to keep her as his own and will risk everything to keep her out of the hands of the English.

I'll be honest, I do not normally listen to Historical Romance, I picked this book as parts of an Audible Romance Category Challenge. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least. It started a little slow but it picked up and the story & romance were great. The characters were strong, honest and down right good which I loved. The romance & sex was steamy too.

The narration was great. I'm not expert in Scottish accents but she sounded great to me. I enjoyed both her male & female voices with the accent.

Loved it!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend it to any friends that enjoy historical fiction. The story is surprisingly immersive and the characters are so enjoyable!

What did you like best about this story?

The tempo was perfect for me. Not too slow, not too fast. The characters were engaging, and at the end you feel invested in the world Tisdale creates.

What does Erin Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did well - not the best, but not the worst.

Disappointed in with the narration

I love the story, but the narrator change entire lines from the written book. Also the flipping from a Scottish accent to an Irish accent was a little annoying. It happened so often at the beginning I almost shut the book off. But I like the book so I stuck it out and it did get better. I don't recommend reading while you listen.

I LOVED IT! BEYOND LOVED IT!

I have read all of Suzan Tisdale's books and I couldn't love her more! She has been my favorite author since I discovered her about 2 years ago. Her characters are strong and perfect for one another. She makes you cry, but she also makes you laugh! I could read or listen to her books over and over again! I highly recommend them all!

Why does brave equal stupid?

The author has writing talent. Unfortunately, she created a heroine who is brave but clearly not.very intelligent. Naivete does not mean oblivious as this author infers. The main character nearly requires a hammer over her head before she understands she is not ugly much less that her love interest returns her affection. That is nothing compared to her extreme stupidity in turning herself over to an evil rapist and killer. Her pure stupidity makes a decent story nearly unreadable i don't know if I will try the next book in this series.

I loved the book & reading was good. But, I prefer a male voice do all the male characters & a female voice do all the female characters

Fabulous

A beautifully written story brought to life by narration. I must admit I didn't like the female voice but that's because I love male voices with the Scottish burr, and after all it was Aisilin's story so the female voice over was good.
Definitely recommended.

A Highland Haven

Would you listen to Laiden's Daughter again? Why?

Yes. It was a tender story about a young girl who was abused by her step father, brothers, and by the baron. She escapes the baron and is found by the Clan MacDougall. She find love and family in the Clan MacDougall. With the love and help the Clan, she gains physical healing, emotional healing, self acceptance, and inner strength. I like strong feminine heroines, stories of tender men, and loving families. This book has all those ingredients.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Laiden's Daughter?

When the heroine of the story shot the arrow and hit the mark after she was told by Duncan not to do it.

Which character – as performed by Erin Jones – was your favorite?

All the characters were enjoyable. I think she did a good job with the different characters and the nuisances of the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book was hard to put down even though it was a bit predictable at the end. It made me laugh in places because the heroine usually got the upper hand in the situation.

Any additional comments?

Definitely a highlander romance. Not a bad price for $1.99.
