Publisher's summary

As an Army brat, Violet Channing could never meet her dad's high expectations. But in the eyes of her best friend, she could do no wrong. He even insisted that he should be her first kiss. Now Cain Sorensen is all grown up, hardened by years in special ops and always looking for a good fight. Tall, with striking blue eyes and impossibly blond hair, he's a modern-day Viking warrior. Of course, Violet's all grown up, too, and she's ready to surrender to his every command.

Cain knows he's bad for Violet. His work is dangerous, and his hobbies are downright deadly. As a private mercenary and a mixed martial arts fighter, he could never let such an innocent soul into his world. And yet his most grueling combat training is no match for Violet's killer curves, hot touch, and suggestive glances. Now all of Cain's most explosive fantasies are coming true - but once they cross the line between friends and lovers, there's no turning back.

Loved it

Violet had two best friends, Jeremy and Cain, both boys are deployed when she is sixteen. The day of deployment Cain kisses her, and she waited for months for him to contact her. One day she receives a letter form him saying it was a mistake. She was crushed but Jeremy's letters helped her get past this. Jeremy and Violet start dating and get engaged. When Jeremy is killed over seas, Violet life takes a huge turn.

Twelve years later Cain comes back into her life, she is very confused over the feelings she has for him. She does not know how to pick up her life after all she has gone thru. Everything she dreamed of was what Jeremy wanted for her. She now has to live with out him.

Love beyond everything

This is the first book I have listened (or read) by Sidney Halston and I really enjoyed it. Although this is Book 4 of the "Worth the fight" Series i didn't have problems listening it as a standalone.
Cain, Jeremy and Violet were childhood friends. Cain and Jeremy were in love with Violet. When Jeremy became Violet's boyfriend, Canin hided his feelings and only acted as her best friend. Six years ago, Jeremy died in the war and although he is still in love with Violet, the guilt doesn't allow him to claim her. Violet also loves Cain and she cannot understand why he kept pushing her away.

The book is great and although I felt that Cain and Violet's relationship happened too late on the book, the chemistry and sexual tension was a constant through the whole listening. And frustrated as I was for Cain's attitude I couldn't put stop listening!

The narrator did a great job and i enjoyed every second I listened this amazing story!

Worth the Fight

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes.Its a nice friends to lovers story. It does have a lot of angst, but it works for the story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was a predictable ending. I love reading the journey the characters take on the road to a HEA. Cain and Violet are two stubborn people and it

Have you listened to any of Megan Solesski’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Megan did a wonderful job narrating both Cain and Violet. Despite the angst, the book also had its lighter moments and Megan managed to portray a wide range of emotions. Despite the fact I was frustrated with Cain at times, the wonderful narration kept me going.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

If Cain would have been more honest and confident. He had no trouble getting in the ring, but was going back and forth with Violet.I know he had a lot of issues to deal with, but true strength comes from dealing with those issues and feelings, and not by trying to numb the pain by force.
