He had stepped from the sky to claim her like an enchanted prince from the pages of a fairy tale, but behind the mesmerizing beauty of his violet eyes she saw the driving hunger of the beast and an endless sorrow only she could heal.
Only for him would she embrace her frightening magic. Only for him would she find the courage to confront the shadows that haunted her soul. Only with him could she hope to defeat the terrifying evil that had pursued her all her life. No barrier could stand between truemates, not of the body, mind or soul. For ahead an epic battle was fast approaching, and only united could they hope to turn back the armies of darkness.

I loved this series ...the charcters are smart and funny with a deep sense of loyalty to each other ...This is one of those series you have to start wih the first book and go through the rest , you can't skip around or you will be lost ....I have the feeling the series was probably written as one big book since there are no real gaps between the books.each book you see the progression of the characters and their relationships ...Ellie and Rien have one of those stories you just fall in love with.
The narration is actually good and I normally don't like most of the female narrators. This book is well worth the money
I love the Fading Lands Series. Unfortunately many of the other books in this series are marred by less than stellar narrations by narrators with peculiar voice patterns - nasally twangs and lisps who trip over words or misspeak them and cant be bothered to go back and fix their mistakes.
However, Book 2 - Lady of Light and Shadows is happily free of these issues, so you can actually just sit back and become immersed in the story.
I don't think there is quite anything else like this series out there. It's a bit of a romance, with quite a lot of fantasy adventure in a fairly complex world. It's much less formulaic then a lot of the other romance/fantasy writers out there, which is very nice, and as mentioned before has a far more sweeping canvass of a world for the characters to move through. I can't wait to see what C.L. Wilson does with the new book she is working on called THE WINTER KING, set in a world called Mystral, and after that it's back to the Fading Lands!
This book was all about Ellysetta, and very well done.
Yes, very much so.
I wish Amy Cardy had narrated all the books.
I am a 40 something year old female that still loves young adult fiction.
OMG! This was good. I want it to never end. The narator did run on sentences so it was hard to follow at times. Otherwise the characters were great and their journey was intense. I can only hope book 3 is as good.
pediatric float/ER nurse 30+ years married since 17, to a awesome man. I love old romance ,Kathleen Woodriss and Rosemary Rogers started
Cal Wilson you are awesome, to all of my audio partners you have got to listen to this tale. From the beginning Wilson weaves such a exotic heart wrenching plot that I hated pausing my listening when I reach my destination commuting back and forwards to and staying up to the wee hours knowing I needed some shut eye. Listeners this is a keeper you have got to listen to this series. I am in love with all the Warriors. Elyseter you are a star and true queen . I purchased more of the saga and I am on to the next. C L Wilson keep them coming you are a superb story teller
Love this book. I've listened at least three times now already. I'm always looking for good books to buy now that I don't really have time to read anymore. Love Ellysetta and Rain. Strong couple here with lots to face together.
Yes, since I love to read, but have so many things to do. It is nice to be able to "read" while I get cleaning done and/or cooking done.
Really don't have a favorite character.
When Rainier was being teased by the Fey warriors and friends.
When Rain abandoned Ellysetta thinking she was the High Mage's daughter.
I enjoy that they have made audio books more affordable.
I listen to books on the road and at work!
I just love this series. I wanted to see if the audio version would help me love it even more and IT DID!
My favorite scene/chapter has to be when Ellysetta is receiving her bride's blessing. It starts a whole chain of events that leads to the biggest discovery in the book and propels the story forward.
This was a wonderful second book in the series, and moved the story much further along. It is also more pacy, with a lot more action and battle, with plenty of sensual romance. Good narration makes this a great listen.
This book was badly narrated, it's supposed to be a fantasy tale but had a very very southern American accent!
