Publisher's Summary

Lady Emma Wells-Finch, the oh-so-proper headmistress of England's St. Gertrude School for Girls, comes to Texas on a mission: she has two weeks to ruin her reputation. The only thing that will save her from losing everything she holds dear is complete and utter disgrace.

World famous playboy-athlete Kenny Traveler has been blackmailed into chauffeuring Lady Emma around. Suspended from the sport he loves, he needs to prove himself completely respectable to get back into the game. And when a gorgeous man who can't afford another scandal meets a hardheaded woman who's determined to cause one, anything can happen...even love.

What the Critics Say

"Well written, funny, sexy, and altogether satisfying." (Publishers Weekly)
"[A] lively, well-written story. Phillips combines an unexpected premise with warm, appealing characters, and overlays it all with her zingy trademark humor and well-developed sense of the ridiculous." (Library Journal)

Same romantic formula but different story. I liked both heroin and hero. Great semi- erotic romance, an easy fun read as usual.

    "Another Brit in Wynette! Fun!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It was fun to see the lonely Emma come into the homely town of Wynette where everyone is in each other's business and Kenny is yet another gorgeous pro golfer who is stuck with her for a few days as a favor to Francesca. Entertaining as always.

What does Anna Fields bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The phenomenal british accents are juxtaposed beautifully against the Texan drawls. Anna did a great job as always.

    "Loved it!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Lady Be Good to be better than the print version?

I absolutely love this author (SEP) and this is one of her best books, in my opinion. It is very funny, and of course, a great love story. The characters are awesome. There are some truly laugh-out-loud parts. Normally Im not a fan of the reader, Anna Fields. I like the way she does the men's voices, but she always sounds a little nasally with the women, and their intonations aren't how I would have read them had I seen the on paper. However, the main character in this book is from England and she does a great accent and I really liked it. I'd highly recommend this audiobook! Hard to put down.

"This Lady is NOT Being Good :)"

Lady Emma Wells-Finch arrives in small town Texas with one objective: to scandalize herself so that her undesirable fiance will call off their engagement. But there's a catch, she has to be subtle about it. Otherwise she fears he will close the boarding school she's headmistress of and regards as home. When she meets the handsome bad-boy golfer Kenny Traveler he seems like the perfect companion to help her scandalize herself. Unfortunately, he's trying to save his own skin and isn't initially eager to help her. Like so many of SEP's novels, the characters in this one (especially the male protagonist) seem to have it all together on the outside. But, the experiences of their past have damaged them, making it difficult for Emma and Kenny to come to terms with their budding relationship.

Of course, one of the things I love about SEP's novels is that there's always a secondary love story taking place. This one is between Kenny's sister Torie and Dexter, whom she regards as the biggest dweeb in Wynette, Texas. Fortunately, Dexter has few tricks up his sleeves which help him win the heart of the precocious, over-entitledTorie.

Anna Fields is an excellent narrator, bringing southern charm to Kenny's voice and British dry humor to Emma's.

"It was just okay... Not really a believable story"
What would have made Lady Be Good better?

It was a funny book, but not really a believable plot line.

Has Lady Be Good turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No...

    Which scene was your favorite?

When she's in the store and throwing everything in her cart that could possibly make her look bad and then his response when he's teasing her about it.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yeah, it had funny parts and moments...

    "Good for a giggle"
Would you listen to Lady Be Good again? Why?

I never listen or read a book twice, what would be the point in that?

Would you be willing to try another book from Susan Elizabeth Phillips? Why or why not?

This was the second book by Susan E. Phillips I have purchased, and will try another one when I'm in the mood for giggles.

What about Anna Fields’s performance did you like?

Anna Fields does a great job with the different accents. I forget there is only her performing.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There wasn't just one moment that stands out, but the humor with the "Hero" was great.

    "Good Story, Great Narration"

Anna Fields makes the story. Her character voices are wonderful and she nails the personality of each character to totally enchant the listener. I liked the story too, don't get me wrong because it was entertaining and of course, romantic. But Anna Fields has to be given her due, without her, the story might not have been as entertaining.

    "Typical SEP...Light and wonderful!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Lady Be Good to be better than the print version?

I own both the audio and print and I really enjoyed the audio. There are some parts that Anna Fields just brings to life in a way that I can't imagine myself doing as I read along.

What other book might you compare Lady Be Good to and why?

Any SEP book is going to be about the same: light, romantic, and full of fun. This may be my favorite by her, but Ain't She Sweet would be a close second.

Which character – as performed by Anna Fields – was your favorite?

Anna Fields' Lady Emma was spot on. She had a bearable accent, but played all of the reserve and eventual emotion perfectly.

    Any additional comments?

Wonderful book, in typical SEP fashion! Thanks for the excellent read!
