Audie Award Finalist, Romance, 2014
The Sullivan siblings have captivated the hearts of listeners worldwide, and this Christmas, New York Times best-selling author Bella Andre shares the love story that started it all...
For Mary Sullivan, Christmas is, and always has been, about family. And this year is no different. As she awaits the arrival of her eight children and their partners at the cottage in Lake Tahoe, she hangs the ornaments that they made for her over the years. Each decoration brings with it a tide of memories, all of which she holds dear to her heart. But when she comes across the oldest ornament, the one her beloved husband, Jack, gave her on their very first Christmas together, Mary is immediately swept back to the first days of their whirlwind romance, to the love that would be the foundation on which they built the family she is so proud to call her own.
Join the Sullivans this Christmas for a story that explores the wonder of the holidays, the meaning of family and a love that transcends time.

First Thought when Finished: Kissing Under the Mistletoe is exactly the kind of Christmas read I love: sweet, moving, and in this case history of a character (Mary) that I love and adore!
Story Thoughts: Kissing Under the Mistletoe was a bittersweet read that had me crying both at the beginning and the end. Fans of The Sullivans series already know what is happening in the present day but it was wonderful to get Mary and Jack's love story. In fact, I have to say it is my 2nd favorite in the series. Perhaps it was knowing what their love created already but their instant connection worked for me (that is rare). Their whirlwind romance swept me off me feet and made me swoon. This is a fantastic Christmas read and I would highly recommend it to all fans of The Sullivan series.
Narrated by Eva Kaminsky /Length 7 hrs and 55 mins
Eva does a great job with The Sullivan series. She has the right emotion for these really deep and moving contemporary romances. I love the extra "emotion" she adds during the "falling in love" time. She also has great timing for the humorous parts.
Final Thoughts: I recommend Kissing Under the Mistletoe to anyone who has read even just one book in The Sullivan series. Mary's story is to good to pass by.
Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.
Started out well . . . but I could hardly finish it . . . I like romance as much as the next person, but I can only listen to so much kissing and touchy/feely . . . the story lacks any depth or character development . . . this one is WAY too shallow for my taste . . . if you left out the love making scenes, it would last about five minutes . . .
This was my absolute favorite book of all the series, because it was the first book that really developed the characters. This should have been the 1st book in the series.
I have LOVED every book in this series ad listened to them all twice. This book is at the top of the list for sure. The story of Jack and Mary was so incredibly sweet and romantic. To see the beginning of the Sullivan family was wonderful. It just tied in all of the kids stories so wonderfully. Can't say enough how great this book is!
It's all about romance in my library! I have a wonderful husband, children and my grandchildren they are my rock.
Yes. Love the romantic between Jack & Mary
Jack - he's everyone women's fantasy as a man.
We need to change the narrator, Eva is okay, but it should have been a different person for Jack & Mary.
I didn't have one. The main scene/theme was how much Mary & Jack loved each other from the moment they set eyes on each other, and it just dragged on and on and on and on and on ad nauseum.
It's my understanding that there are other Sullivan stories written by Bella Andre. No follow-up to this one needed as this was one of those "explanatory" books that authors write to "fill in the blanks" for series readers.
The book could have easily been compressed or abridged down to about an hour and the story line would have been a quick, easy, delightful read. As it was, 7 hrs 55 minutes was way too long and I struggled to listen to the whole book. Just when I was thinking of asking Audible to take it back, the story line would suddenly appear and tweak my interest so I'd continue listening.
While the author did have some topical story lines, the listener had to suffer through what turned out to be hours of how much Mary and Jack think about each other, love each other, touch each other, etc etc etc. It wasn't a "steamy" novel, it was just excruciatingly long on how much the two main characters loved each other. I'm not even sure why I listened to the whole book because it was very easy for my mind to wander to other things while I was waiting for SOMETHING to happen. Very disappointing. The book synopsis was far more interesting than the book itself.
While I realize my reading tastes has changed from when I was in my 20s, I still do like to listen to a romantic novel and dream about the happily-ever-afters. This book simply did not have enough substance, either in the characters or in the story line, for my taste.
I was expecting a Christmas light read. Instead it starts at Christmas and ends with Christmas.
It's a sweet story. Book lags a bit and over does intimate scenes, they really just drag on and on.
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
I like the Sullivan series so it was nice learning about the parents start. This goes from when they meet to the marriage which is like a month! This listen is sedate compared to the others in the sex department and it was sad knowing that Jack dies young. The narrator as always was great!

Yes, it was a touching romance and perfect for the holiday season
I loved Mary. She is such a strong character who loves her family. It is easy to see where her children get their sense of drive and strong ethics.
This was my first time listening to Eva, and I found her to be warm as she used the right tones to set the tale.
I laughed, shed a few tears and swooned over Jack
Having previously read the novel, it was delighted to experience it on audio

I always prefer the audio version b/c Eva does an outstanding job of portraying all of the Sullivans! I just love listening to her and just love the Sullivans!
