Bounty hunter Morgan Bailey is still recouping from her latest vampire kill when she receives a new assignment: hunt down the sunwalker who stole a priceless amulet from a mysterious millionaire. Sunwalkers - vampires who are immune to sunlight - are notoriously difficult to find, let alone kill, but Morgan’s not worried. She’s never met a vampire she couldn’t dust. But when this particular sunwalker comes looking for her…well, all bets are off.
Because not only is he cunning and charming, he is undeniably gorgeous - and in possession of an ancient secret that, if unleashed, could destroy the human world. Making matters worse, a strange darkness has awakened inside of Morgan, threatening to overwhelm her unless she can uncover the truth about the amulet everyone so desperately wants.
With a kick-ass heroine and captivating supporting cast, Kissed by Darkness launches an addictive new series for fans of urban fantasy.

I am such a fan of Audible! I love Mysteries, Romance, Paranormal novels of all kinds, spy novels, and self improvement books. I am particular about the quality of story telling by both authors, and narrators so I hope listeners will find some of my reviews helpful. I value the artists who respect the nature of audio book entertainment, and thank each of them for their ability to transport listeners to another level!
I thought this writer did a good job with introducing a twist in P/R. The narration at times was really good, then had trouble with changing pace to often, so the timing of humor and action seemed off. The thing that was a maddening distraction what the fact that the mysterious male hero started with a great russian accent, then mid conversation would have an english accent, then an American one. After a short time couldn't tell the difference between characters. The male characters personality really left a lot to be desired. He started with promise, then just fizzled out! Very distracting. Oh well...
I do like kick butt chick vampire slayers
I purchased this free with a credit needing something for a long journey. Really interesting twist in the vampire genre with an even more interesting twist.
Alrerady put book 2 in my wish list.
Wont give the twist away but story set around young woman being attached and bitten, she is the only Human not to turn but instead to gain a few useful skills. She decides to take revenge on the whole vampire race by becoming a hunter. Her best friend is a fortune teller and the super hot friends brother is something?
She is commissioned to execute a sunwalker (thought to be a Vampire who could live in the sun) everyone tyhinks they are a myth. This story takes you though her journey to work through myth and truth and if true how she will find him?? I cannot tell you anyome without ruining it for you!!!
My only moan is that I like a narrator who brings her characters to life with their own voices and accents. There is ver little change in Emily Sutton-Smiths narrative : (
Say something about yourself!
Narrator is OK,Story line is very frivolous and weak. Main character is a little disappointing and basic. If you are on a road trip and just need some light mindless background noise, then this book is great! If your looking for strong characters, rich plot and stimulating events. This book isn't for you!
In this series vampires are mainly just predators and only concerned with eating or drinking as the case may be, so you have the hunters who hunt vampires and demons. Morgan is the main character in this book and she's a hunter, naturally. The book was fast paced with twists and turns and a little romance thrown in. The cast of characters is colorful and interesting and easy to fall in love with. There is of course a lot of gory fighting which you would expect when the main character is a vampire hunter. You also learn a little about Atlantis through Morgan's dreams and all about sunwalkers. A great start to a series with an ending that makes you want to know what happens next.
Several good plot ideas poorly executed. Characters get a C. Like the rest of this book some real possibilities that fell flat. My real quibble is the conversation and how poorly it was written.
Narrator was all right. I'm guessing she did the best she could with the material she had.
Possibly..... It annoys the crap out of me when author's use other author's creativity, then just spin it a bit. I just started listening to this book, and after the first few minutes, I immediately thought of the Anita Blake series.
Will update my review after I finish the book.
This wasn't the worst book in the world, but it wasn't very good, either.
My main issue with the book was that the author's foreshadowing was so explicit, nothing in the plot came as a surprise. The main character is pretty annoying too.
This is a great twist on vampire stories. There are a lot of characters that are developed during this story and it seem just as you think you have figured out who's who things change. The story continues to develop right through to the end so you'll need to read the book. There is a good conclusion at the end and we're left wanting to read the next book.
This is fantasy and romance novel but I enjoyed the story. I will read the next book.
