Publisher's summary

Bounty hunter Morgan Bailey is still recouping from her latest vampire kill when she receives a new assignment: hunt down the sunwalker who stole a priceless amulet from a mysterious millionaire. Sunwalkers - vampires who are immune to sunlight - are notoriously difficult to find, let alone kill, but Morgan’s not worried. She’s never met a vampire she couldn’t dust. But when this particular sunwalker comes looking for her…well, all bets are off.

Because not only is he cunning and charming, he is undeniably gorgeous - and in possession of an ancient secret that, if unleashed, could destroy the human world. Making matters worse, a strange darkness has awakened inside of Morgan, threatening to overwhelm her unless she can uncover the truth about the amulet everyone so desperately wants.

With a kick-ass heroine and captivating supporting cast, Kissed by Darkness launches an addictive new series for fans of urban fantasy.

Great Story

This is a great twist on vampire stories. There are a lot of characters that are developed during this story and it seem just as you think you have figured out who's who things change. The story continues to develop right through to the end so you'll need to read the book. There is a good conclusion at the end and we're left wanting to read the next book.
This is fantasy and romance novel but I enjoyed the story. I will read the next book.

Great start to a paranormal series

Any additional comments?

It took me a little while to get into this novel because I was concerned that it was pulling from too many other paranormal novels and that it might not be unique and catching on its own. I'm glad I kept reading! I definitely got into the plot, characters and am left wanting to know what happens in the next one. I was particularly pleased at the attempt to explain magic as a scientific phenomenon - no appeal to god or higher powers. Of course, it's paranormal, so suspending reality is required, but I still like that the implication is that if it could be explained, the explanation would be scientific. Anyway, very entertaining, kick-ass heroine, hot guys, and plenty of room for the series to continue!

A Really Bad Vampire Hunter

The heroine is supposed to be a kick-butt Vampie Hunter but time after time she misses the heart. She seems to have terrible aim. Every single battle is more drawn out and difficult than it needs to be. One time it is because the vampire is younger than she expected. Next time the vampire is older than she expected. One time she uses a nasty weapon and stands there complaining because the vampire is taking too long to die and his suffering cries are loud and tormented. Why she doesn't just dust him quickly and put them both out of their misery I don't know. The fact that she heals fast is really all she has going for her until her extra powers awaken.
Despite alot of poorly thought out plots and scenes this book was ok. Not great but ok.

Naff cover interesting original twist/plot

I purchased this free with a credit needing something for a long journey. Really interesting twist in the vampire genre with an even more interesting twist.

Alrerady put book 2 in my wish list.

Wont give the twist away but story set around young woman being attached and bitten, she is the only Human not to turn but instead to gain a few useful skills. She decides to take revenge on the whole vampire race by becoming a hunter. Her best friend is a fortune teller and the super hot friends brother is something?

She is commissioned to execute a sunwalker (thought to be a Vampire who could live in the sun) everyone tyhinks they are a myth. This story takes you though her journey to work through myth and truth and if true how she will find him?? I cannot tell you anyome without ruining it for you!!!

My only moan is that I like a narrator who brings her characters to life with their own voices and accents. There is ver little change in Emily Sutton-Smiths narrative : (

Fun read

This book was just what I needed, a fun read. I am in love with the characters and enjoyed the unexpected elements in what I thought was just another vampire story.

Great story, perfect narration!

This is a fascinating tale and great beginning for the series. Amazing narration adds even greater depth. I listened straight through over a couple of days, and have already purchased the next two installments, which is the highest praise I can offer. Worth the price.

good story it piqued my curiosity

The story started a bit slow but did eventually get my curiosity up enough to keep listening. However if it were not in audio format I would have not made it through the first chapter, I have never enjoyed reading a story written in the first person although it works quite nicely with a narrator reading it to you. The narrator did a reasonably good job considering that she misread a few words but I also think she could have put a little more emotion into it in order to fit in with the story being written in the first person.

Inconsistent narration but good story.

I thought this writer did a good job with introducing a twist in P/R. The narration at times was really good, then had trouble with changing pace to often, so the timing of humor and action seemed off. The thing that was a maddening distraction what the fact that the mysterious male hero started with a great russian accent, then mid conversation would have an english accent, then an American one. After a short time couldn't tell the difference between characters. The male characters personality really left a lot to be desired. He started with promise, then just fizzled out! Very distracting. Oh well...
