Publisher's summary

He comes to her more dead than alive, a towering black-clad stranger riddled with bullets and rapidly losing blood. As she struggles to save him, veterinarian Tess Culver is unaware that the man calling himself Dante is no man at all but one of the Breed, vampire warriors engaged in a desperate battle.

In a single erotically charged moment, Tess is plunged into his world - a shifting, shadowed place where bands of Rogue vampires stalk the night, cutting a swath of terror. Haunted by visions of a dark future, Dante lives and fights like there is no tomorrow.

Tess is a complication he does not need - but now, with his brethren under attack, he must shield Tess from a growing threat that includes Dante himself. For with one reckless, irresistible kiss, she has become an inextricable part of his underworld realm...and his touch awakens her to hidden gifts, desires, and hungers she never knew she possessed. Bonded by blood, Dante and Tess must work together to thwart deadly enemies, even as they discover a passion that transcends the boundaries of life itself.

Great start, but quick ending.

This is a great listen but the author seems to have been rushed with her ending.
Reminded me of JR Ward.
Worth a credit.

Loved All Three

Loved all three of the series. I suggest starting at book one and reading/listening to them all. I downloaded one immediently after the other because I wanted MORE! I can't wait for #4 to come out! Brilliant author and narrator. Some narrator's voices annoy me and make me lose concentration on the story but Hillary Huber is one of my very favorite. I actually found this series by doing a search on Hillary. :) Hope you enjoy as much as I did! ~Deb

Exciting and frightening

I read this story a couple of years ago but recently read it again because I am filling out my Midnight Breed series set and decided to start from the beginning. We see who Dante truly is in this one, and discover how important the protection of the breed mate is. He's a hot, warrior vampire with a troubled mind, and when he shows up in Tess's veterinarian clinic, riddled with bullets and close to death, he finds something much more powerful than a woman who can help him heal his physical wounds.

Tess is working overtime just to keep her veterinarian clinic open. She puts in late hours and fights the attentions of an ex who is trouble from the word 'go'. But when Dante finds his way to her clinic after fighting off a gang of rogues who are high on a new drug, crimson, he opens up a whole other world to her, one she isn't sure she wants to be a part of and one that not only frightens her but intrigues her.

I love the narrator the author chose for the story. She does a great job of differentiating between the voices of the characters. This story reveals the danger of this new drug, the appearance of a dangerous villain, and a twisting plot that will carry through the Midnight Breed series. Though I've read many of the stories individually, I look forward to reading them all in order again.

Writing and narration--very well done!

Kiss of Crimson is the second book in this series. The quality of the writing is still great. A must for those who enjoy paranormal romance. What stands out for me is Hillary Huber's mastery of accents. There are several in this book (and the others that will follow). When an Italian, Russian, and a Brit are having a conversation, Ms. Huber is able to switch accents without hesitation. Well done!! Can't wait to listen to Midnight Awakening when it is released.

Enjoyed it.

Entertaining. Fairly predictable, but was ultimately a good listen and I'm excited to get the next in the series.

Excellent!

Move over Blackdagger Brotherhood! The breed warriors are just as sexy and exciting! I am looking forward to listening to the continuing saga as they fight the rogues and find their blood mates along the way.
