So Alex puts Daisy to work in his traveling circus, expecting the harsh realities will break her. Instead, he finds she's got heart enough for both of them.

Unusual subject circus life, I enjoyed the characters and the animals. Narration by Anna fields makes all the difference when I choose a book. Thanks to her and the always enjoyable writing of this author my days are brighter.
I feel this book is still as good as Phillips other books but it isn't lighthearted or even really funny like the other ones. Alex is definitely an antihero and this book seems to explore a love between two people that isn't sunshine and rainbows. In fact, I expect Alex and Daisy to have some rough patches in their marriage because of the nature of Alex's character. Now that I've listened threw the book a second time I can see that Daisy WANTS to be with a challenging man like Alex. When at first I agreed with many of the other reviewers view about Alex being borderline abusive. Now I see that If she didn't love the dark sides of his character she wouldn't constantly relate him to the wild tiger she has a special bond with. I guess there is a HEA for everyone..even Alex who I still don't like.
Interesting and well written, of course. It was also very sweet. I've learned not to expect anything less from SEP.
This was a chance credit. I read the summary and was unimpressed, but then the reviews made me curious. Yes, the plot is totally unfathomable for today, but there's something in the personalities and range of characters that get you hooked. The circus theme and the whole Russian czar drama just fades to the background and you get a cute romance.
This is one of my favorites by Susan E Phillips I have read and listened to this book a few times and whenever I need a good cry this is the book I grab.
How the Daisy tried so hard to do the right thing and make the best of her situation.
dragging me in even more to Daisy's world
Cry and Laugh and Cry some more
the flow characters
This was great
I loved this and it was worth the credit
This book portrays women in the subservient role of slave and master. A silly, unbelievable plot which portrays this woman as being subservient and having no self esteem or belief in herself otherwise she would never have put up with this male chauvinist in her mate or her father. A real waste of time and total lack of respect for women.
This book caused me to waste so much time this weekend because I couldn't stop listening to it and had a hard time focusing on anything while I was listening. It was so funny I found myself laughing at loud, often. It was great because it was not predictable and a uniquely different story. Narrator was great too.
Bookseller extraordinaire. Devours books for breakfast.
I wish Alex could have been nicer, everyone was just downright mean to Daisy. It got exhausting to listen to.
Expected, but pleasant.
It's an enjoyable listen/ read, a good substitute for Phillips fans who have exhausted the rest of her novels.
