Publisher's summary

In the second book of The Watcher Chronicles series, Jess finally learns where her father has been since the Tear first opened. While Mason tries to keep his distance from her, Jess continues to search for the other vessels with Chandler by her side.

This series is intended for a mature audience. Recommended for ages 17 and older due to sexual situations and adult themes.

If I were to use the movie rating system, I would rate this series an R.

A little much.

Ok, so I was getting very irritated with the way Jess was back and forth with Mason. Seemed like she was tempting him all the time, with trying to seduce him then turn around and tell him to stop. I know she was sexually abused by her evil step "uncle" but come on!!!! I don't see why she would pick this topic and then have an ancient angel have patience to put up with this. Grrr! Believe me, I get it because I was sexually abused when I was little but I don't want to read about it throughout the entire book! Almost stopped reading it but I want to know the end. Hopefully, this will not continue in the next book!! For the love of God.....please stop the abuse line and let Mason have his Jess without have blue balls constantly.

Slow plot but realistic character growth

I understand the other reviews talking about the "I'm ready now / nope, not yet" back and forth Jess does is a huge part of this book and can be distracting, but if you think about it she's in the "teenage" phase of relationships- she finally wants to be with a man, but has no idea what to do and when. She also doesn't have any coping skills for flashes and triggers. I feel like this is a character building book, with limited plot action or suspense. She's working on trusting herself and her relationships and it's not the most exciting part but I think that's what makes Jess seem real.

I will defiantly listen to the next book and still recommend this series.

A Big Disappointment

The first book held out some promise as a sci-fi/fantasy novel. Alas, all that potential disintegrated into a sad and sloppy pile of pre-pubescent romantic drivel. Of the twenty+ chapters included in this novel, about four actually focus on the primary storyline, the others are little more than preteen romantic angst. Does he love me, do I love him, why is he mad, and on and on.
Poor and inadequate character development, story development, and sad plot mechanisms, rather than skilled storytelling.
Don’t waste your time, unless you’ve used your credits on real writing, and just need some filler until the next one drops.

Well..

Jess and Mason aren’t consistent. Jess can’t handle sexuality due to previous experiences and Mason is over the top stand offish. He doesn’t want to move too fast and is supportive. Then like a light switch, like nothing ever happened to Jess, he is like a teenager without restraint to his sexuality and Jess is supportive that he need to wait and his actions are ok? Whip flash. Just wish the characters were more consistent with the story line or more transition from not ok to ok.

The strong female lead character we had in book one turn into a love sick teenage !
Every 5 second is a Mason this Mason that.. like wtf ? I will give this author the benefit of doubt because I read book one, but I hope it gets better !!

I could not stand the main character.

The heroine was not a believable character. Do you know how in horror movies we tag some people as too stupid to live? The heroine in this book is too stupid to To be a character.

Boring & Silly

So, it's the end of the world, and all the lead characters can think about is having a boyfriend and kissing??? What a silly book. Maybe if you're 15 you might like it, but as an adult, no thank you.

Jess finds more answers

I feel like this book answered more questions about Jess and the world around her. The relationship between Jess and Mason is a little maddening and super slow. It just seems like one thing after the other getting in the way. Hoping book 3 has some good stuff.
