Publisher's summary

What will she bid?

Desperate for riches, penniless Michael Tremayne, Marquess of Falconridge, is willing to auction away his only possession of value - his title - to the highest bidding American father. But Kate Rose was the last woman he had in mind to marry. The willful and headstrong Kate requires from marriage the one thing Michael is unable to give - powerful, unending love.

Kate refuses to give into her husband's sensual demands until he has earned her love. Michael is not one to back down from a challenge, but neither does he believe in playing by the rules. While he is unfamiliar with love, he is extremely intimate with passion. He is determined to convince Kate that one can substitute for the other. And what better way to convince her than by patiently and skillfully seducing her? Kate never thought marriage would be so mischievous... or that her husband would persuade her to be so sinful.

Historical Romance At it's Best

I wish they had all or Lorraine Heath books. The performance is excellent, but I love Anne Flosnik.

Sweet tender romance

Michael is desperately in need of money so he sells himself and his title for an American heiress. Unfortunately for his new wife Kate he has some secrets that he doesn't want to share and they make him seem distant and cold but he has passion which he thinks is enough. Kate however, believes in love before passion and sets out to try to win him over to her way of seeing things. Likeable characters, charming story and read by a good narrator.

Worth the credit? - Yes, I wasn't disappointed.

Not Wicked Enough

What disappointed you about Just Wicked Enough?

It had a jerk female protagonist who made the male protagonist look like milquetoast. I have listened to other books by Lorraine Heath and was shocked at how execrable I found this one. I adored the books based on Oliver Twist.

Has Just Wicked Enough turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. Just this series and possibly the author.

What aspect of Anne Flosnik’s performance would you have changed?

Not even Anne Flosnick could save this hot mess. If you want to hear her range and talent try the Legend of the Four Soldiers series by Elizabeth Hoyt. It is marvy.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Two unusual twists in wonderful love story

Characters were great but at beginning one can’t understand what is behind the motives and actions. As I have found with this author all the pieces come together in unexpected ways in the last quarter of book. So glad I listened until the end because as in other books with this author I sometimes get so tense or so frustrated I want to throw in the towel and not finish. It is definitely worth it!

enjoyable, with a twist on the wealthy lord trope

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the twist where the aristocratic lord is broke and auctions himself off to gilded age millionaires in order to marry one of their daughters.

Which scene was your favorite?

Not a specific scene, but I liked the ongoing attempt of the H trying to guess something about the h.

Any additional comments?

I liked the story quite a bit, but I felt the narration was the weakest part of the experience. The American accents often sounded pretty English to me. Flosnik's voice was rougher than usual, like she had an irritated throat or something. I've heard her on several other books, and she's usually very good. The characters voices were not as individualized as she usually makes them, either. So, I was disappointed with that aspect of the experience. But, the story was engaging, and a bit different from the usual historical romance. Lorraine Heath has given us another enjoyable story!

Not my favorite

This was nothing special. I must admit that Michael's mother's dementia hit especially close to home; my mother has it as well. It can be heart wrenching.

I didn't care too much for the characters. I liked Jeremy best. The story was annoying.

I've read (or listened to) almost all of Lorraine Heath's books and they've been great. This is my least favorite.
