A- rating...

My Review:
Overall: 4.25
Performance: 4.5
Story: 4.25

Oooh, I really liked this story, although both the MC's have some interesting issues.

Trinity is an artist. She also has an artist's soul. She's emotional, moody, and has had serious issues with depression and self-doubt. As the story unfolds, a lot of the reasons for her issues were revealed...a couple of them really took me by surprise because I didn't see the twists coming.

Walker is the black sheep of his millionaire/billionaire family. He's the blue collar guy despite his wealth. He works construction and is generally discounted within his family and by others who normally bow down to the Lund name. Yeah, he has a few issues, too. Despite the fact this generation is all very close, including Walker, he still feels like an outsider who's taken for granted. Yep...issues.

For both these characters, they don't seem to quite fit within their world. Even in the artist world, Trinity is different. She uses lots of different mediums and doesn't restrict her artistic endeavors. She creates huge custom mixed-media pieces, small paintings that she sells for a few dollars, and will then work painting sets at the local theater. Within the constricts of the story, their situations both come to a head adding extra stress onto their relationship which isn't exactly smooth sailing to begin with. But despite that, I really loved the two of them together. Neither one is divulging all their secrets which causes issues as they move through their relationship, but I did really like them.

The story was romantic and fun. I loved every moment of listening to it. The narrators were both fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

Sweet romance

I gave this four stars because it was a very slow build up (a good slow as the relationship was able to grow from insta to deeper forming roots along the way) but the end was rushed. This low angst story was able to squeeze a few years from me. The back and forth banter was humorous and unique. Overall, I loved the narrators voices, they are fitting for the characters ages. The animation in their voices and alternate character voice were fitting to the characters themselves.

I recommend this book for those who like sweet low angst reads.

Not bad!

Super sweet yet annoying at times with the female lead. She jumps to conclusion a little bit too much.... Walker is a great guy. It was overall a good listen.

The corniest Lifetime Movie

OMG, this book's review and steamy(nes) is a total lie. At best it's suitable for a 17 y.o. Huge disappointment. It's was so corny, boring, and fake; I often found myself rolling my eyes. If you want a steamy book, this is not it. There were small parts of sex scenes (when I say small I mean it, you could count on one hand and not all the fingers) but the sex was so boring, as if it was an after thought. If you want a book to past the time and do not really care about it being captivating, then you may like this one. But it wasn't for me. Overall, you could skip several parts of it and not miss anything.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Almost What I Needed

Although there were some sweet and extremely amusing moments, I thought that Trinity and Walker acted a bit too immature for their reported ages (30 & 31). At first, it was enjoyable listening as they slowly got to know each other, but the humor got bogged down by self doubts and insecurity.

Trinity (and Walker to a lesser degree), had major emotional baggage from their childhoods which could have been resolved through therapy. Walker felt unappreciated and ignored by his large & loving family, yet he did not stand up for himself. I was relieved that Walker wasn't the typical rich alpha jerk but disappointed that he didn't appreciate his many blessings (good health, financial security, family support).

While sympathetic to Trinity for loosing in the parental lottery, she allowed friends, family and strangers to intimidate, insult and degrade her feelings and talent. Trinity had mild mental health issues that she choose to ignore, which was sad and dangerous. Also I like when the author makes a character full-figured but would really love if that woman embraced her curves rather than whined about being bigger than a toothpick.

The best moment of this book was when Walker's mom Silka ripped Trinity's step-monster into shreds. Go Silka! I had to rewind and listen several times, while I laughed and cheered.

Because I believe Lorelei James is an incredibly gifted writer, I almost felt like she was trying too hard to make Walker & Trinity quirky and off beat. The extended Lund family makes an interesting background for this series; it was refreshing to have a wealthy family depicted as caring and socially responsible.

Best in series so far

Walker and Trinity make a most interesting and unique pair. The chemistry of their characters is great- almost too much build up but lots of anticipation. More depth into the Walker clan. The cousins behaved at times like jerks Though not as bad as Trinity’s father and step mom, but Mom Selka is a great character. Hope to see more of her and Ward as well. The narration was pretty good except in the scene with the gallery owner where Walker’s voice became very high pinched and the gallery owner sounded more like Walker. Not sure what the whole piano delivery at end had to do with anything but maybe I missed something. Hope to see more of this couple in future books.
