Jungle Inferno: Phoenix Agency, Book 1

For Faith and Mark, the telepathic connection they’d shared for years was nothing compared to the scorching physical connection they realized as adults. From the first moment they came together, "erotic" was too pale a word to describe their relationship. Together they explored each other's deepest, darkest desires. But now Mark, survivor of an ambush to his Delta Force team, is a prisoner of a terrorist group in the Peruvian jungle, and his telepathic communication with Faith is his only contact with the world.

Audible Editor Reviews

Desiree Holt has packed the heart-pounding thrill ride that opens her Phoenix Agency series with action, suspense, twists and turns, espionage, shadowy cover-ups, terrorist arms dealers, and a sizzling hot romance that plays out in flashbacks and the shared dreams of plucky empath Faith and her lifelong friend-turned-lover Mark, whom only she knows is being held captive and tortured after the execution of his Special Ops comrades.

Performer Bethany Legare's warmth and southern lilt edge the sweet and spicy scenes into explosive territory as Holt's blend of tension, politics, and a touch of the paranormal will keep listeners on the edge of their seats as the depth of Faith's love and the evil lurking in the jungle face off.

“I love all genres of books, however when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!

This book had lots of potential but the story just did not flow for me at all. The first half of the book was slow and I actually got sick of the sex scenes. I love good sex scenes but this was ridicules. The action would just start and next thing the H and H are having dream about a past sexual experience. It completely disrupted the flow of the story.
The narrator could not get the male voices to sound even a bit male. I might try the next in the series if there is a different narrator.

What did you like best about Jungle Inferno? What did you like least?

I liked the story but the narrator is awful. I really did not like the voices the narrator used especially the voice she used for the male lead. There was nothing sexy about it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She did such a poor job with the male lead character that it made it hard to listen to the book. Also, she did an awful british accent.

"A Hot and Steamy Telepathic Action Book :)"
    Any additional comments?

Our hero Mark, a Seal, has been captured and tortured by an evil gun runner in the jungles of Peru and needs Faith's help to rescue him. They have shared a Telepathic connection since they were children and Faith has had contact from Mark asking for his help. Faith finally seeks the help form the Phoenix Agency. It is Made up of ex-SpecOps members, they do extreme missions, the ones the Army can't. They are soldiers for hire, so far under the radar that only a select few even know who they are. They are friends, brothers and they have a connection to Mark. One of the Phoenix's brother was under Mark's command.

This is a Steamy Sexy listen. Lot's of flash backs to the one and only night they ever slept together. A we warning: If you don't like bad language or the C word best stay away as there is quite a lot of this language throughout this book.

    "AN ACTION-PACKED, THRILLING ADVENTURE"

Faith, who is telepathically linked with her Delta Force lover Mark, suddenly hears his messages to her and feels his agonising pain and anguish as he is being tortured. She frantically searches for help - before time finally runs out for Mark.

Join in her pulse-pounding, desperate, emotional search that ends in the Peruvian Jungle but along the way there's intrigue, drama, betrayal, mystery, cover-ups, thrills, romance, sizzling erotic flashbacks, suspense and danger. Her last hope is the Phoenix Agency whose team of Alpha ex Military Commandos dramatically take charge and attempt a tension filled filled last minute rescue.

Worth a credit? Desiree Holt manages to capture the urgency and lavishly paints a desperate dangerous mission in this first enjoyable adventure with the Phoenix Agency and I'm longing to hear about the next mission and all the characters who belong to the Agency. So, I'm very happy I found this new series and it was a credit well spent.

    "The Narrator ruined this story..."
What disappointed you about Jungle Inferno?

The narrator tried to do accents and was just awful. The story is good but unfortunately I couldn’t get past the horrible accents.

If you’ve listened to books by Desiree Holt before, how does this one compare?

    This was my first.

Would you be willing to try another one of Bethany Legare’s performances?

    NO

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story was interesting, if it had a different reader it would be great.

The story flowed well in the beginning it had a great feel to it. The narrator used horrible accents

Would you recommend Jungle Inferno to your friends? Why or why not?

No the ending dragged three four five conversations saying the same thing repeatedly.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator was terrible. Don't do accents if you aren't good at it.

Was Jungle Inferno worth the listening time?

yes the story was go the sex hot but it could have been two hours shorter to help the flow

    Any additional comments?

had a Feehan feel to it but became bogged down in second part.
