BOOK ONE OF THE GALLAGHERS OF ARDMORE TRILOGY

In Gallagher’s Pub, where the fire is burning low and the pints are waiting, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts has a story to tell...

Determined to reevaluate her life, Jude Murray flees America to take refuge in Faerie Hill Cottage, immersing herself in the study of Irish folklore and discovering hope for the future of the magical past.

Finally back home in Ireland after years of traveling, Aidan Gallagher possesses an uncommon understanding of his country’s haunting myths. Although he’s devoted to managing the family pub, a hint of wildness still glints in his eyes - and in Jude, he sees a woman who can both soothe his heart and stir his blood. And he begins to share the legends of the land with her - while they create a passionate history of their own.

Fun story to listen to while doing stuff

I like Nora Roberts, but have gotten away from her. This book was fun, funny, emotional.. A Nora book:). It is a great way to brighten your time while doing chores or just relaxing:)

Wrong choice of reader.

Love Nora Roberts books and have always loved the readers for her books on audible. This one was atrocious! Horrible Irish accent and a really disjointed reading and inflection in general. Disappointed to say the least or such a magical and romantic book.

interesting

If you could sum up Jewels of the Sun in three words, what would they be?

different and interesting

If you’ve listened to books by Nora Roberts before, how does this one compare?

this is the best of the 3 in this series. It is not like many of the other books, so it would not be fair to compare. I would say to anyone if you like Irish and the legends, you will enjoy this series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no, i could walk away from it and pick it up again. the book is interesting but not riveting. It pulls your emotions. there are actually 2 stories within the books. the background story does not end with his book and it leaves you wanting to know how it also ends.

Any additional comments?

I have read this series. I rate this book the best because i was the least frustrated the characters. There are people with certain character traits that annoy you in real life and i find they annoy me in books also. Darcy the sister highly annoyed me.

Fairy Tales really do come true

What made the experience of listening to Jewels of the Sun the most enjoyable?

The Narrator was perfect!

What other book might you compare Jewels of the Sun to and why?

I have loved all of Nora Roberts' Trilogies. If she is the one who chooses her narrator's, she's has a knack for it :)

What does Patricia Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Love the Irish accent. I could listen to it for hours. Patricia Daniels does a fantastic job of changing voices when necessary and her inflections are spot on.

Narrator

The narrator wasn’t as good as most I have listened to. She was very stilted and clipped in her delivery.

Fabulous Trilogy!

I am in love with this trilogy. I love the setting, the characters, the storyline, and each one just connects with me on a personal level. Nora Roberts is one of the very best story-tellers, and Patricia Daniels is fantastic at delivering these very charming and unique characters to life. I can close my eyes and listen, as I get lost in the amazing world of the Gallaghers of Ardmore. Thank you.

Fall in love with Aidan

Fall in love with a strong Jude, gorgerous Aidan, magical folks and fairies of Ireland.

One of Nora's Best

One of my fave books in one of my fave trilogies by Nora. You can tell it's pre-big brother 9-11, but the characters and story are true and lovely. It's a joy to read, but not sappy; and you feel good for all the right reasons when it's over. Daniels does a decent job with the audio narration, but is a little weak on adult male speaking English with an Irish accent. Worth a credit; don't debate, just grab it if on sale!

Great story, stiff reading!

I love Nora Roberts books and this is as beautiful and moving as all the others I've read or listened to, however, while Patricia Daniels has a very nice and clear voice and I loved the Irish accents, when reading in her own voice the reading seemed stilted and stiff. It's not so bad as to ruin the story however.

A tale of self discovery in a lovely setting

I want to disagree with a couple of reviews about the narrator for this well written book. I thought she did a good job sounding tentative and unsure for the main character. She also did a great job on her Irish accents.
My only criticism of the book, is I wish more time had been taken at the end to work through the evolution of the self discovery and assurance.
