Publisher's Summary

It's really simple. I needed money. A lot of money. One million dollars to be exact. The amount didn't matter. All that mattered was that in the end, that price tag held my father's life.

No money. No life.

The time limit was one year. On January 1st I had to pay up or my Father was going to be killed.

When you're faced with an ultimatum like this, you do whatever you have to do.

And that's exactly what I did.

The job...Exquisite Escorts. My role, serve as high-priced arm candy to anyone that can afford the $100,000 price tag for a month of my company. Sex is optional (for me) and a 20% increase on the price.

Mia Saunders just barely escaped a paltry life back home in Las Vegas until she gets the call that her Father has been beaten to within an inch of his life for not paying his gambling debt. Problem is, the loan shark is her lousy, ruthless ex-boyfriend. Another guy in a long line of men she'd fallen head over heels for. Not anymore. Mia's mission is simple. Serve as a high-priced escort for her Aunt's company and pay monthly against her Father's bad debt. A month with a rich man who she doesn't have to sleep with if she doesn't want to? Easy money. At least that's the way it was supposed to go.

Each installment in the Calendar Girl Serial will feature Mia, told from her perspective as she continues her journey as an escort to twelve clients in twelve different locations.

Warning: This book is designed for audiences 18+ due to language and graphic sexual content.

    "Amazing!"

I love this book and am looking forward to reading the whole series. I don't think it's better than Fifty Shades but it is its own story and so far it is enthralling, I know what books I'll be listening to by the pool this summer.

    "But Wes???"

Narration, Summer Morton - Really Good! She has a great sounding voice and handles characters of both sexes quite well.

The story? Hmmm. I'm not sure. I liked it and didn't like it. We have the "been there, done that" girl who's down on love coupled with the concept of the gambling father who gets pummeled into a coma and now the daughter has to bail him out to protect him, herself and her sister. She becomes an escort, but in order to make enough money to pay off the loan shark, who happens to be an ex - (yeah...I know, solid guy) her aunt (the "madame") suggests that she take month long jobs. She'll get 100K for each job and it'll be easier to make that kind of money. So, she sets up a payment plan with the loan shark, and all will be good in a year. Sex is not required and the organization can not charge a client for sex, (cause that would be prostitution) but if she chooses to have sex with the guy - that's her choice - and he's supposed to leave an envelope with an additional 20 K that's all hers to keep.

So her first client Wes, is a screen writer who just needs a block to keep the chicks off him while he's networking at special events. Of course, she's delightful, he's a hunk-a-burnin' love and they fall into an easy and chemistry filled friendship (and into bed..with some rules, of course).

It's a really good audiobook and I loved listening to it, but honestly - it's a little depressing, because there's really no HEA. You get all invested in the couple and they get invested in each other and them BAM - she's off to Mr. February.

I have no idea, but I imagine all 12 of her guys are going to fall for her and she's going to leave each of them and I'm just ready to hear more about her and Wes. *sighs*

This is another expensive serial albeit each "episode" almost seems like a standalone.
I got this one in a sale, but would NOT use a credit on these - they're just too short and there are too many credit worthy books out there. Nearly 6 bucks a pop for the audio and 3 bucks each for the kindle so I may just be moving along on this one... or maybe I'll listen to just one more???

good story line but the plot could have been a little more developed.
the reader was a little fast paced but still understandable.
    I would read it again.

    "A Unique Premise"

This story is far different than I expected from the blurb. Its unique premise has captured my interest. The main character is likeable -though at times, I can't relate to her decisions- and I'm enjoying getting to see her interact with the secondary characters. Definitely some sexy moments. Well done narration.

"Good Start, but 12 audiobooks is too much."

I have been hearing so much about The Calendar Girl Series by Audrey Carlan, and I have wanted to read it for such a long time. I have the Kindle of Calendar Girl: Volume One (January, February and March), but I never got around to reading it. So I grabbed the audiobook of January for a trip that was about 3.5 hours, almost the same length as the book.

Now this was what bugged me a bit. The Volume One box had an MP3 CD available, but it's not on audible. You have to buy each month separately, which is either $12 bucks a pop directly on audible, or if you buy the book with the whispersync upgrade, it's $4.98 each ($2.99 for the book plus $1.99 audiobook upgrade). I don't normally complain about price, but since they combined 3 books together for the MP3, they can do it for audible. Each 3-month volume is basically the same length as one average to long book, 400 pages. I think reading/listening to 4 books sounds much less daunting than 12. Unless of course you were doing one per month the way they were released. But I will say, this series may be worth it, because I really enjoyed it.

Ok, so here is the premise. Mia's dad got into debt and owes a loan shark about a million. Plus her sister has tuition. So Mia needs money fast and joins her aunt's high-end escort service, where she is hired out monthly for the sum of $100,000. If she chooses to have sex (which is not part of the contract) she will get bonuses.

Weston Channing the third (Wes) is gorgeous, and a screenwriter in high demand in Hollywood. The problem is, he can't get any business done at the Hollywood parties he attends because the bimbos and gold diggers are all over him. So his mom arranges for escorts (why am I the only one that finds that a bit creepy?) for her gorgeous, surfer, blockbuster-movie writing son.

    Enter Mia.

The chemistry between Wes and Mia was strong. Though Wes was not interested in any type of relationship, Mia was totally great for him. They became great friends, and then more. Lemme tell you...the more was HOT. There was definitely emotion involved, but they both fought it hard, because she was moving on to a new client in a month no matter what.

Of course, things get a bit complicated. They may both get a little attached, but we have 11 months, and 11 men left, maybe they'll get back together after the year is out? Being a romantic who needs her HEA, I was a little sad at the end that she had to go, but I was happy that the story wrapped up and didn't leave me with a cliffy. (Hopefully this is not a spoiler to you, because it's the whole concept of the series and in the blurb).

    Likes:

•I really liked Mia's tough, honest, cool attitude.
    •Wes was a hot. I have a total crush.
    •The sex was amazing.
    •Loved the narration.
    •Humor and banter.
    •Interesting and unique concept.

    Dislikes:

•There were a few little nitpicky things that should have been researched better (like how a movie really works behind the scenes).
•The entire premise of the loan shark trying to get money from someone that can't get it after beating them anyway seems a little ridiculous.
•His mom hiring an escort and bragging about it is plain creepy.
•Every single other woman at the party was a slutty bimbo. Are there no women in Hollywood that aren't? Women were not portrayed very well in this.
•The pricing structure of the audiobooks (see the top of this review).

    The Down & Dirty:
I can see how The Calendar Girl series can be addictive. The writing is compelling and Mia is very likable. The sex is hot, and I guess having 12 partners will keep things interesting. I love that there isn't a cliffy, each book has it's own story arc, but you don't get an HEA for the couple which even though I knew going in, but I still felt sad about it. But if you are looking for a hot and sexy series that you can gobble up like candy and price is no object, this may be one to choose. For me, the time commitment and the price are holding me back from continuing. I will not judge the book by its price for the star rating though, that is purely story.

Rating: 4 Stars, Heat 4.25 stars, Narration 5 stars

    "Pretty Sexy!"
Where does January rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of my better picks for listening.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The characters are all pretty equal so far, maybe after the next book I'll be a little more attached to someone.

Have you listened to any of Summer Morton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time to listen to Summer Morton. Will definitely listen again!

it was a good book, the only problem I had was when the narrator would deepen her voice when doing the guys voice. To me it was just awkward!

"Fall in love with Mia and Wes!"

The perfect introduction to characters you can't help but love. Mia hasn't had an easy life. Wes has had it beyond easy. Mia will do whatever it takes to take care of her family. Wes should be stuck up and full of himself, but he is just the opposite. They have a wonderful few weeks together. Such a shame to see them say goodbye. What a cliffhanger.

This story has the perfect combination of love, lust and humor. The perfect first installment in an amazing series.
