Desperate to find her sister, Erin goes to the only man in Houston who can help her - Ivan Markovic. The intimidating, tattooed Russian operates one of the most elite mixed-martial arts training centers in the world but it's his shadowy past and reputed connections with Houston's underworld that interest her most.
To find her sister, she'll need the help of her big, scary Russian protector - but asking for help from a man like Ivan carries a steep price, one that might just include her heart.

With this it doesn't even matter if everything seems plausible or not.The plot was cool, the Russians hot, what more can you ask for in a curl up in a chair to read book. Oh yeah a good narration, well it had that too. Fun fun fun
Take a look it's in a book...Reading Rainbow!
What a delicious surprise!! I grabbed this book as a free read over at Amazon and then picked up the audio book fro a song at Audible, best idea of the week! I heartily suggest doing the same!
I went into this thinking it would be a quick listen but not expecting much, boy was I wrong. This story had me hooked from the first scene. Fabulous storytelling that really moved, no dull moments here, Not my typical fair, I generally prefer paranormal, but I am definitely looking into the rest of the series. Really engaging characters and dynamic gritty plot.
Erin is really sweet and a little naive, if she were any less sweet she might have annoyed me. For the most part she was smart enough to deffer to Ivan, who is a master of his seedy world. And what a yummy protector he is!
The romance really jumps into the steamy, only about a day of knowing each other, but I am willing to chalk it up to love at first sight. Okay, lust at first site. There are some truly delicious steamy scenes in this short read. I girl might need a cool shower or a hot man after!
Ms. Rivera is a new author to me but she is definitely one to watch. This series is really unique and deliciously hot! Erin has several girlfriends who are ripe for finding their own protectors in Ivan's pals. Can't wait to see the sparks fly and get into the gritty plots!
Pinky Powell does a terrific job with the narration. She really kept the pace of the book and moved the story along. Not a lot of variety in the voices but still kept them distinct. I would love to hear more from her in the future both in this series and elsewhere.
I love to read and I'm happy that I get to follow along with a audiobooks
If I. I really had fun reading Ivan.
When Ivan ask Erin to move in and say I love you.
IVAN... I Love everything Ivan was in the story.
All of it.
Just read this book. Even though it's short I still had a good time reading it with the audio.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I like the whole Russian ex-gangster protector...but why is he protecting her, from what... I am just a bit confused... Story reads pretty well, but just jumps right into action... so I was a bit confused... I think I will reserve final judgment until the complete collection comes out... So for now... No recommendation...
Narration was just ok...
Dog Lover living in Alaska
I like the series, they are not too deep or complicated, but good quickies. Pet peeve though, I'm Hispanic and it drives me crazy the stereotypical Mexican accent and the fact that the Spanish speaker pronounce the silent H In hermano and she pronounces Guhz-man instead of gooz-mawn. But that's me being particular.
The story was good, but it needed a little more polish. It seemed like a first attempt and i caught myself rolling my eyes at the inexperienced dialogue. i can see promise with this author. Narrative ok too.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a good story. I liked both Erin and Ivan and liked their story. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked this enough that I'd be willing to consider trying more of her work in the future.
Erin is a good woman that's in a bit of trouble. She lost her parents years before and her sister, Rose, is a drug addict that seems beyond help. Erin spends a lot of time looking after Rose and cleaning up her messes but since Rose doesn't care enough to stay off the drugs, all Erin's efforts are pretty much just enabling Rose to be that way. Now Rose is missing and Erin is trying to find her before things go bad.
Ivan is a Russian that used to be in the Russian mob. He moved to the US years ago and straightened out his life. Ivan is a big man and is feared by most because of his looks and reputation. Although Ivan never fought professionally, his fighting skills were well known enough that he was able to open a successful business training fighters in his gym, spending most of his time doing this.
Erin approaches Ivan for help and to be honest, I didn't know how she expected it to turn out because she didn't know him, he didn't know her and there was no reason at all for him to help out. Even his reputation doesn't give the idea that he's a helpful sort. Regardless, Erin goes in to Ivan's gym and asks for help with the heavy crap Rose got mixed up in. Ivan refuses her at first but evidently can't stand to turn her away and agrees to see what he can find out (but makes no promises). There's an attraction between them right away and Ivan does his best not to scare her. Surprisingly, although she realizes that Ivan is a scary guy, he doesn't scare Erin and she's intrigued by him more than anything. Soon after their meeting, Erin gets in to some trouble with the people looking for Rose and Ivan helps get her out safe. After this she stays with Ivan while things get worked out. The story is very short and I do wish there had been a little more of a fleshing out of their relationship within the short time frame given by the book but it worked overall and I enjoyed the story. The story is resolved with Rose out of danger and things proceeding well for Ivan and Erin as they start their HEA together.
This was a good story. I liked the characters and story but I do wish there had been a little more fleshing out of their relationship. Still enjoyed the story though and ended it satisfied. I'm curious about some of the other Russian guys and am considering trying book #2 in the series. :)
If the other books in the series are as good as this one, I can wait till Audible releases them. Loved that Ivan showed his vulnerability to Erin throughout the book. Pinky Powell did a great job.
Huge, menacing, sexy.
His reaction to Erin offering herself as payment for his assistance in helping her locate her sister. Ivan comes from a criminal and violent background with no blood family and few people he can trust or love. In spite of this, his behaviour shows that he has a strong morale and although attracted to Erin is disturbed that she might think that he would take advantage of her in the circumstances.
The is the first time I have listed to Pinky Powell. She made Ivan sound really dominant but sexy, loved the Russian accent. Look forward to listening to her on another audiobook,
Yes. I had already read the Kindle edition of this book, so I knew what was coming, however the narration brought that little bit extra to it.
After reading Ivan I had no choice but to instantly devour for Dimitri, Yuri, Nikolai and Sergei, which I hope will also be released as audiobooks and narrated by Pinky Powell.
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Erin is desperate and her last hope is Ivan the intimidating tattooed Russian but she'll do nearly anything to save her sister Rose from the hole of drugs and bad choices that she's dug herself. When tough guy Ivan first lays eyes on Erin the games over because he knows he'll do anything and risk everything to keep her safe.... and hopefully keep her for himself too.
This listen was under 3 hrs but it packed a lot in as it sucks you into the seedy world Rose has gotten herself in where the Mexican gang, Albanian gang and now the Russians are all after her. So Erin's frustration and desperation rises but the one person she can now depend on is Ivan. The romance is tender hot and quick but it has to be, the excitement is high as the bad guys come for Erin and Erin can see that underneath Ivan's gruff exterior, and his previous mob life, lies the heart of a teddy bear.
Great narration and well worth the $4.86.... just wish it had been longer.
"Short and sweet"
Rough and ready -
It wasn't predictable in the way many books are aside from the happy ending
The reader has an expressive voice and nice tone
"A Great Start To A New Series!"
As I had an audio companion to the book, I had the best of both worlds.
It was just full of sweet moments.
This fairs very well love the Russian accents.
Loved this book, a short and sweet story that does exactly what it says on the cover.
His name is Ivan and he is her Russian Protector.
