In this beloved novel, number one New York Times best-selling author Sherryl Woods proves once again that sometimes family does know best.
Straitlaced tycoon Richard Carlton suspects that his Aunt Destiny has more than business matters on her mind when she insists he meet klutzy PR executive Melanie Hart. Melanie might be brilliant - and beautiful - but Richard won't open his wounded heart to any woman, no matter how much she might make his pulse race.
Yet when the press mistakenly reports that they're a couple, Richard convinces Melanie to pretend that they're engaged - to bolster his reputation and to teach his matchmaking aunt a lesson, once and for all. But is this relationship just a charade, or do opposites really attract - for keeps?

I've always enjoyed Sherryl Woods' books, but this one is one of the best. I loved the story line and the well rounded characters, especially the quirky Aunt Destiny! Teri Schnaubelt did an amazing job giving voice to the characters which made for a really good listen. I will be looking for more audio books that she has narrated.
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Isn't it rich? is an old fashioned romance with a "rags to riches" feel to it. Originally written by Sherryl Woods in 2004, it is the first book in the Perfect Destinies quartet. The story centers around Billionaire Richard Carlton who runs the family business empire and who is considering running for political office. His beloved Aunt Destiny, who raised him and his two brothers after their parents died about 20 years ago, feels it's time for Richard to settle down and get married as his workaholic ways are sure to lead him to an early grave. Destiny throws Public Relations sensation Melanie Hart in his path as a potential marketing executive to help lighten his work load. Her only condition to employment is to not get involved with the boss (she's been burned before), which is exactly what happens.
Like in the movie Pretty Woman, the characters are extremely likable and Richard makes several grand gestures that only money can buy. For example, he flies in Mel's favorite BBQ from Ohio on a private jet. Unfortunately, there is not much plot (other than the romance between the two main characters) and the characters are not well developed.
While the book is just mediocre, the narration is outstanding. Teri Schnaubelt's narration flows naturally, is easy to listen to, and each character has their own distinct voice. Teri's rendition substantially contributed to my enjoyment of the story. I received a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review. In summary, while Sherryl may have written the heart of this book, Teri gave the story its soul.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
The narration was so good...and the story is a fun one!
I love a happily ever after...and this one realy good!!

A little of both!

I loved the power struggle in this book, the instant attraction...and how Richard was cool and professional, but not cruel...he reminded me just a tad of Christian Grey, without all the bondage gear....lol Melanie is no Anastasia though, she is super smart, and driven...with a cute personality....They come together in an arranged business relationship...but it turns into something very special!!! Teri was excellent as always...and the story was sexy, but in a clean and charming way...and I loved it!!!!
I enjoy reading, listening and reviewing. I enjoy blogging. Doing what I enjoy giving feed back in hopes someone will try a new author.
This was a cute fun listen that I really enjoyed. I had trouble putting this book down. The author gives a wonderful highly entertaining read and the narrator tops it off. What happens when you have a wonderful aunt you adore but drives you crazy and she is into matchmaking which drives you even crazy? Well of course you play along and try like the devil not to get caught in your own desire as you try to teach your aunt a lesson. The question here is who is really getting played the aunt or her nephew? This was cute and at times funny read that keeps the reader/listener invested as the narrator lets you see the side of a very rich man and an up and coming PR executive thrown together by a crazy old lady who just wants the boy she raised to be happy, find love and have some down time. He is always working and on the run from one meeting to another never taking time off. If things do not work out as she wants than she makes them. You are left wondering what she will be up to next and how Richard and Melanie will counteract her.
Teri Schnaubelt did an outstanding job on narration she puts so much emotion into her audios. You could really feel what each character was feeling as she almost brings you to tears in the heartbreaking times. Her tones are even none high or low just a smooth even voice. I really enjoy listening to her and could listen to her voice all day. She has wonderful character voices which was easy to tell who was talking. The males had rich deep tones and the women had wonderful sexy tones. The aunt voice fit her age wonderfully. There is no background noise and if a break was taken you could not tell. She gives you a rich sexy read that at times will make you laugh. I was really hooked by this narrator on another audio I had listen to as with it she gave me a wonderful sweet listen that really touches you heart.
Melanie is just a very lovely lady who gets into a few messes from time to time. She is very smart and very sexy. Sometimes she can be a little blonde (as they call it) or maybe she is just hope she is reading it wrong. She just wants to get her company up and running with a good start and knows having Richard as a client would set her up nicely. She has had bad luck in romance even worse when she started a relationship with a boss and will not fall in that trap again. She finds it hard to turn away from Richard but is doing her best until his aunt sets them up big time.
Richard is happy the way his life is running the family company is his joy a few one night stands is all he really wants. When his aunt puts Melanie in his face wanting him to give her a job he finds it hard to not have her work her fingers over his body. Not going to hire her but he would love to bed her. He really is a nice and sweet man just hurt at a young age losing his parent was hard on him. Trusting in someone to stay with him is very hard. He does not trust easy. Melanie is one woman he finds it hard to walk away from. He is starting to think maybe he doesn’t want to.
These two put their heads together when they believe his aunt is setting them up for more than work. Oh the mess’s one gets into when they deceive. This was a cute read and at times funny. It is a very entertaining story that holds your attention. I love the plot and the characters, Richards brothers are a trip. I cannot wait to read their stories. I am sure they will be as interesting as Richards. I have to wonder what his aunt will do if all three boys find their true love, will she go back to her first love or is it too late for her. If you are looking for a great listen this would be one you will totally enjoy. If you are looking for a great book to read it will get your attention.
No spoilers! Love HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. I also review in exchange for books-lots of fun surprises!
Richard is a highly productive and constantly busy successful businessman. He had taken over his father's firm when his parents were killed in an accident. From that point on the business was his life.
His aunt Destiny, gave up her glamorous life in France, where she was a successful artist and living her dream, came immediately to accept the responsibility of Richard and his two younger brothers. She is now focused on opening the walls Richard built around his heart from the grief of his parents death.
Melanie is a consultant in all categories of business. When Destiny calls her and explains that her nephew was in need of a consultant, both for his business and possibly an eventual political candidate; Melanie was intrigued.
They were to meet at the business lunch and go from there, but after waiting more than enough time for Richard to show up, Melanie decides that she does not want to work with anyone who doesn't value her time. She leaves the restaurant and heads toward Richard's building. While on the street they bump into one another. He apologizes for being late for their lunch and asked if she will come by his office later.
Melanie is an independent and successful woman but this account would really put her on the map, so after an internal struggle she agreed to meet him later.
Will their rocky beginning smooth out or will they just play the parts that Destiny has planned out for them
A really nice book and I will look forward to the rest in this series. I would think there would be two more, one for each of Richard's brothers.
Teri Schnaubelt has a warm and soothing sound during much of the book, when needed. However, she cranked it up during any fight. Melanie and Richard or Richard with his brothers, etc. a very good job I'm impressed, as always, with the quality of Teri's performance.
Notes: There are some intimate things that are written in a romantic way without graphic detail. *I received this book in exchange for listening to and writing this review. While those who don't mind a little bit of spice I think you would be happy with this. However, if you are a "purist" contemporary Christian listener, there are some things that would probably bother you.

This is book 1 of the series. We are introduce to an interesting family. We meet the family members as adults but learn a lot about them from what has happened to them in the past. This story is about the oldest brother and his aunt's attempt to find him a wife. I will be listening to book 2
Take one wealthy corporate CEO who is wrapped so tight he is winched to the eyeballs, add one well-meaning wealthy aunt who raised him since he was 12, and one physically inept but professionally excellent PR consultant, and you have the beginning of a nice light read. Excellent for when you need a book that doesn't tax the brain too much, but leaves you feeling good about yourself and your world.
Teri Schnaubelt is excellent narrating this genre. Pleasant voice, cadencing, portrayal of each character and emotions, and can snark with the best!
I received this book as a personal gift.
What a fun, romantic love story! I enjoyed listening to this story. The trials of going from getting hired and working for the boss and loving him. Richard, the CEO vs Melanie, a feisty yet very intelligent employee. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? Destiny was such a fun character too.
This is my first read by the author, Sherryl Woods. Loved it, excellent story and great plot! The narrator, Teri Schnaubelt did a great job on her delivery as always with multiple voices and accents - very believable and pleasant on the ears.
