I'd always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human-shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells, afraid to trust fully lest my oddities be exposed.
Until I saw him. He'd been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn't just that he was breathtakingly handsome, with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped.
No one had noticed him. He'd been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived.
I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn't stop until I unraveled his true identity.
I just had to know.

I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Ok... this was different...
I like the story...but the cliffhanger ending was so expected... since I still don't know what the main characters are!!! There has to be a book 2, if not... then this story was simply incomplete.
So...the basic jest of the story is Shasha is unlike other humans in that she can sense shadows...or rather people in the shadows... She can see what "normal" humans cannot. Which we find out later, that Shasha unlike other humans can use magic. Seveyn is the "boss" or rather the leader of a group of a different race of humans. Seveyn's race is where the vampire legend comes from.
The story is confusing in that there is no name for Seveyn's race... what do we call him... so Shasha calls him a vamp...but is he? Then what is Shasha?
So... there is a lot of action and a fight scene when a rival (Seveyn's race) of people attack...but Shasha uses too much magic and ends up killing up the bad guys, but now she has to drink Seveyn's blood..which causes a bond... But wait... Shasha and Seveyn already have a bond!!! They are mates...which Seveyn nor Shasha have yet to figure out..
Don't get me wrong...this story was very good, and well worth the credit, buy or sale... I just feel incomplete... Only one smexy time between Seveyn and Shasha...but Shasha does get it on with her ....wait for it..... BOYFRIEND.... lol.... Luke... and Seveyn bangs this crazy b*tch once.... but IDK... like I said... this was a great story... very promising...but the ending... Geez.... at least tell me what my main characters are...
Seriously... this is totally worth a buy, credit or sale...
Narration was pretty good... No complaints...
I'm a big fan of Whispersync! My favorite genre is fantasy, YA and adult, but I'll occasionally listen to/read NA romance or space opera.
This book was deplorable simply deplorable I tell you!!! but I... ahem hem...
Great series, narrator does it excellent with both male and female characters.. Very imaginative spin on the vampire genre.
The rules for the supernatural creatures are unique in this series and that fact key me engaged! Narrator did a very good job bringing the characters to life. Looking forward to seeing how the storyline progresses
It was as good as the written. A very enjoyable story given freely by the Author thru Audiobook boom.
Chosen was another book by K.F, that is similar, about a young women with special gifts.
Good Job Devra!
No....This book had sections that were special but not all in one sitting.
This story had a scene that was very special and worth the money spent. That one scene was an incredible and heart pounding imagination effort from the author. Awesome writing!
Yes, it's a great way to re-read this story. I hope they finish the rest of the series.
I'm not quite sure it's polite to write what I enjoyed the most. ;)
I think I enjoyed Sasha's fight with Jonas the most!
I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series!
Good escapism. looking forward to next in series. Interesting slant on the supernatural genre. Well done. Very readable.
"Good start to the right"
