I gasp as my body curls toward Brennus like a flower to the sun, for the pleasure of it. He holds me close to him. His nose grazes the length of my neck. He breathes me in. I feel the roar and rush of my heartbeat. I'm his toy; his energy streams into me. He winds the invisible key in my back, and the euphoria ratchets and coils inside of me.
Another wicked surge of energy flows from him into me. Pain. Pleasure. Bliss. My jaw unclenches as my lips part. I make a small, breathy sound as we dance. Brennus responds with something close to a growl. "Ye're killing me, mo chroí," he murmurs. His hand moves down my back, infusing me with a golden glow of power. My wings punch violently from me, tearing a hole in my day dress. They spread wide, like a red stain beyond my pale skin. I'm dancing now for the thrill of it. I follow his lead.

I have really loved reading all of the books in this series. I'm sad that this is the last book in the series, but it was just as good as the rest. For me, there was enough closure here to make me satisfied with the ending, but there is still enough of an opening if she wanted to write another book. If not, it leaves you with something to wonder about on your own, but not to the point where you feel like you don't have answers. Looking forward to whatever the author writes next! I haven't been able to find another series quite like this one.
I loved this book. I thought the voices were good and did not notice a difference that many people complained about. I'm curious to see if there will be another book after this one.
The writing was great ! loved the ending very sad for it to be over but was disapoimted with the drastically diffrent voices used for the audio book it kinda thew it off for me
Absolutely Awesome!!! I loved it! Although it's supposed to be the last book in the series, it didn't seem that way at the end. It was still great and worth the wait!
Loved how the different story lines were tied up nicely. It was a satisfying ending to the series. I am sad that this was the shortest of all the books in the series. Would always love more of Amy’s work. My only criticism would be that the narrator drastically changed the voices of several of the characters. Made for a disjointed listening experience.
This was a worthy ending to a fabulous series. I thought Ms. Bartol did a great job explaining things and tying up loose ends. The only threads left hanging were of an angel and a Gancana. I would have liked to have seen those threads tied up better but overall I was thrilled with the conclusion. Anything less than the ending she gave to us would have left me feeling angry and cheated.
Many reviewers thought Brennus's "change" was a bit much but I thought it worked well and was fitting. I do wish the new characters that were introduced would have been hinted at in the earlier books but the reasons why they weren't were believable.
The battle into Sheol was climatic and emotional. At least for this reader.
I wish I could find another series as well written as this to listen too. I like the HEA and sometimes that is hard to find. I enjoy books with mystery, love triangles, and surprise twists that still make sense. This series had it all. I will be suffering "book hangover" for awhile...
Not after this one
I still love the story, I'm not done listening it, but I'm already disappointed of the narrator. It is a big set back that the narrator changed her voice this much. The way how she performs the narration is really horrible. Why couldn't it stay as it was in the first 4 books?
First of all, despite it being the same narrator as the other books, she sounds completely different. Coming straight from the others to this one threw me off balance by how differently she narrated it.
Overall, though, it felt very rushed. It felt like Bartol was trying hard to finish this series in this book but then ended up just leaving it on a cliff hanger anyways. It didn't feel as well written and the characters felt a bit off from how they normally are. Not in the, they grew and developed into this way. But the, these don't feel like the same characters way.
Kind of disappointed after loving all of the other books so much.
