Publisher's summary

Phoenix "Nix" Knight thought pulling his club out of the illegal shit his pops got them into was difficult. Until he meets Kadence. Kadence Turner has no business lusting over a student's father, especially the president of the Knights Rebels MC. Nix is crass, obnoxious, and dangerously sexy, and for some reason, Kadence can't seem to hate him for it. The bossy biker breaks down her defenses, but unlike the old Kadence, the woman she is today won't give in without a fight. The tension is undeniable, the attraction fierce. A man that wants what he wants and a woman that will fight him every step of the way.

I Love Me a Dominant Take Charge Man

The best thing about a good MC book isn't he alpha men. I love the 1% mentality too. not to mention a strong woman that loves to submit. this book has that and more. I can't wait to listen to Holly and Sy's story. Good read. Check it out!!!
The narrators are also really good. They both bring the characters to life. Both believable and appropriate for the story. This you will also enjoy.

One hit biker story!

I loved the storyline...I mean who doesn't love a sexy, alpha biker?!?! The one thing I didn't care for were he voices. I didn't picture them having a southern accent and sometimes the voices seemed inconsistent.

It was great to revisit old friends!

This is one of my favorite mc books- it's been a few years since I read it so I was kind of worried it wouldn't live up to my memories, but happily it did! I love me some Nix Knight! And I loved Kadence too, I loved that she gave as good as she got with Nix- she wasn't some shrinking violet.
What I loved best about this series is there's no cheating, none of the real ugliness you see in so many other mc books/series. I don't know anyone in an mc club in real life, so the way some of the stuff is portrayed other books may be realistic, but it's not anything I need or want to read about. I liked that once Nix set his sights on Kadence, she was it for him- he didn't have any use for anyone else, especially the club "whores".

The narration was great- Joe Arden was a terrific Nix!

A SEXY, SASSY ROMANCE & A DIRTY TALKING ALPHA HERO

When the hot 37 yr old President of the Knight's Rebels MC walks into his son Zayden's classroom, summoned there by his Teacher, Phoenix (Nix) doesn't expect to be blown away by the feisty, fierce and beautiful Kadence. Kadence was expecting Zaden's Mother to turn up not the tall, leather-clad, sexy, bossy Nix whose mere presence sent her dormant libido straight into overdrive. And it wasn't long before his demanding Alpha attitude, his dirty talk, his smart sassy and gifted mouth and his relentless pursuit finally had her beneath/on top/alongside/in front... etc., of him.

It's an instant lust, instant chemistry and instant everything else as the 'hardass' biker was actually a possessive, bossy pussycat when it came to Kadence and his son which made for a sweet romance but not necessarily a tough gritty biker one. There was plenty of angst and drama with the sub plots of turf wars, a delusional ex wife, a vicious ex fiancé, a neglected 11 yr old boy and a kidnapping that had bloody and long lasting consequences. There's plenty of passion and raunchy sex, the Knight's Rebels MC is a clean Club.... no drugs, no treating the women badly etc and they look out for the wellbeing of the town's citizens and the MC members all seem very likeable characters.

I really enjoyed this listen, yes it was a bit of a 'watered down' MC biker story with caring characters and a loving romance but the kidnapping put a heartbreaking and bloody twist to the dual POV story and I had no issues with the dual narration.

Worth a credit? Yes, there was fun, a hot Alpha Hero, a Heroine with attitude who overcame a bad history which left her with scars and an action-packed story whether it was filled with sex, drama, tension or heartache.

Finally a MC book with a story!

I read all the time n have just recently started MC novels. These one wAs the first one with a believable story to go along with it. Two heart broken people finding each other is not new but put those two people at odd over right n wrong still finding there way to one another gave this book a fresh read!

Pretty good start to the series :)

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Kadence and Nix and enjoyed seeing them get together, especially since Kadence is a feisty heroine that takes no crap from Nix and Nix is a slightly overbearing, bossy alpha male who won't take no for an answer. Their interactions were sometimes fun and often hot and always interesting. This is the first book I've read by this author (according to Goodreads it's her first book) and based off this I'm likely to try more of her work in the future.

Kadence is a teacher at an elementary school. She lives with her best friend, Holly and her parents live out of town but close. Kadence was hurt in a fire because of some crap her fiancee (who is now an Ex) was in to and she still carries the scars from that. She's had a hard time trusting and opening up to a man since then.

Nix is the president of the Knights Rebels MC. The MC had been started by his father and friends but got into illegal crap that brought a lot of misery. Nix led the MC into being legit, opening businesses and being part of the community. The only thing they do that's outside of the law is make sure no drugs come in to town. Nix is the father of Zayden (aka Z) who is in Kadence's class. Nix and his wife are divorced and he wants nothing to do with her past parenting Z.

Kadence had to break up a fight between Z and another boy in class and both their parents had to be called in. She called Z's mom so was surprised to find Nix arriving late, annoyed because his ex had just called him 5 minutes before to tell him about the meeting. When Nix walks into the classroom and Kadence sees him she's wowed but thinks that Nix is trouble just waiting to happen and determined to resist him no matter what. Kadence proves she has a backbone and that just turns Nix on as he likes women with spirit. They split ways but Nix has a hard time forgetting Kadence and she has a hard time forgetting him as well. They happen to meet again at a community fair where the MC is volunteering and sparks fly again. Kadence does a good job at fending off Nix but that just seems to get her more firmly embedded under his skin so he needs a taste. When they run in to each other the next time, Kadence is on a (rather boring) date who Nix proceeds to chase off. More sparks fly and Kadence shows she's not afraid to express her displeasure with Nix's actions in a very forceful way. Regardless of this, they do end up going home together for a night of fiery passion....which Kadence sneaks out on before morning, pissing Nix all the hell off.

Nix and Kadence both feel a connection to each other, being together feels natural. Nix never thought to get married again and isn't sure if he wants to but he finds he can't forget Kadence and can't get interested in other women. Kadence is scared of the connection between them and opening up to someone so she tries to keep Nix at arms length, using her place as Z's teacher as an excuse for them not to get involved...not that Nix lets that work for long. Things start out a bit tumultuous for the couple but things do steady out (eventually) and they both stop fighting it and come together. There are other issues that keep them busy even as they're trying to figure their new situation out. Kadence's Ex shows up in town and he has ties to a drug kingpin and is out to cause trouble for the MC. Also, Nix's Ex-wife is a problem and Z is having issues that need to be dealt with as well. Nix and Kadence deal with the drama and some unexpected danger and some out stronger in the end and ready to start their HEA.

I found this story to be very enjoyable. I liked the characters and the interactions between them. The story was pretty good and worked for me but what really kept me engaged was the unfolding relationship between Nix and Kadence. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I'd recommend this book. :)

* note - There were 2 narrators, a female for the parts from Kadence's PoV and male for the parts from Nix's PoV. Both narrators did a very good job.

Love the book

I really enjoyed the narration. Male narrator better than female narrator. I've read ths book before and really wanted to hear the narration and intonation.

Easy listen, tended to drag

I enjoyed this book, but it dragged on in several spots. I love Nix! He's a dream single-dad. The heroine's attitude bordered on just being a beast at times. The sassiness took up so much of book that I got bored.
