Stripped of all control, panther shifter Kassity has no choice but to be a killer for Lucius. Obeying the vampire was simply her way of life, until Jax comes to town and brings trouble with him. When she recognizes Jax as her fated mate, Kassity must deal with betrayal, secrets and Lucius in order to be with him. With a war raging between all supernatural creatures Jaxon must decide who he is fighting for-and against. What started as a simple job turns into a complicated game of hearts when he meets Kassity, the woman he thought he was rescuing. But not everything is as it seems in Lucius' territory.

With my time in traffic I now spend the majority of my time listening to books rather than sitting down and reading them, and have gotten picky about my narrators. Emily Lindsay's debut was beyond impressive. She kept the story flowing, with no awkward pauses or infliction. I also thoroughly enjoyed her accents. It kept keeping the characters from mixing together easy and the plot moving even easier.
This was also A.L Kessler's debut book. My favorite part was the plot and all the characters in the world she created. Kassity was that perfect mix between strong and vulnerable. Lucius was a character that intrigued me from the beginning, and I have a feeling as I continue to read this series will keep doing so. I'm a reader that loves secondary characters, and boy does Kessler have some secondary characters that I am chomping at the bits to read about. She weaved a world that I didn't find hard to step into, and I'm looking forward to the next one, and the next one after that.
