Publisher's summary

P.I. Harry Lonnigan wasn't fooled by her disguise. The waif dressed as a boy, who was about to blow his cover and maybe get herself killed, was every inch a woman. His first priority should have been reuniting Charlie with her estranged father, but her first priority was to seduce Harry, and before Harry knew it, he was in too deep.

Feel good, funny and short

I found this book because I was looking for other stories narrated by Amanda Ronconi, whom I adore as a narrator. She does not disappoint with this book. She isn't working with the snarky wit of Molly Harper here, and I admit this is a different style with Lori Foster. The book is an older one, and based on even older screwball comedies. If you are looking for something intense and serious....keep looking. This is light, fun, and some sexy. Amanda did an incredible job bringing two very different characters to life. Listening to a book read by Amanda is more like listening to a radio play. She is awesome.

Loved this story! Very sweet and exciting in all the best ways. The narrator was perfect - no complaints.

Narrator made it painful!!!

I have not a clue if this was a decent book. The narrator should be a voice over for Saturday morning cartoons! I could not finish the book. This is the 2nd recently released Lori Foster book Audible.com has ruined. "Married To The Boss" is another ruined book due to the narrator.

Listen to the preview before purchasing to see if you can tolerate the annoying screechy voice.

so disappointing

I love Amanda Ronconi's narrating but I absolutely hate this book. No real story, stupid plot and the thought that if we use big words the audience wiil be enthralled is insulting. Run away...do not waste your life with this tedious book.

Not the best

Any additional comments?

The narrators portrayal of the heroine was annoying at the least and at worst grating enough for me to turn off the audiobook several times. The story was definitely not one of Foster's best. I didn't care for the heroine's character (and combined with the narrator, definitely not a fan) and kept wondering why the hero (also thin in character at times) put up with her.

The plot- unimpressive. I wasn't expecting much, it's a short chick-lit romance, but this one hits all of the stereotypes with none of the fun parts of that genre. I didn't laugh or chuckle much at all while listening to this one and personally, I expect to at least once in a book that's not much more than fluff anyway.

Potential SPOILER ALERT:The dilemma- underwhelming. Heroine has daddy-issues and is immature and vindictive towards the man, despite knowing her mother was selfish and vindictive in general believes everything her mom said about the father. After playing a totally immature part to try and spy on her father (seriously? She's supposed to be an adult with her own business who is a workaholic and she has *time* for that?? Yeah, right), she asks detective (hero) to help her find out more about her dad. I still can't figure out why, because she knows what she needs him for and what she thinks it will accomplish is far-fetched at the very minimum. Meanwhile, hero struggles with ethics of helping her. There were multiple points where I wanted to smack both characters upside the head and especially the previously reasonable hero and say "WTH do you think prolonging it is going to fix, especially when she's so bound and determined to hate the guy?" Not worth listening to the finish (although I did), not worth a repeat listen and ultimately, IMHO- not worth a credit.
