Publisher's summary

After a stalker breaks into her home, internet entrepreneur Bee Langston decides Kelly Connolly is the only man who can help her - but seeking help from the former Marine isn't easy, especially after she made a spectacular fool of herself trying to kiss the sinfully sexy bodyguard.

When Kelly spots Bee weaving her way through the Houston nightspot where he's working security, all those feelings he's desperately tried to deny for his best friend's sister come flooding to the surface. He'll do anything to keep her safe, even if it means getting up close and personal with the one woman he simply can't have.

Soon, Bee's stalker isn't his only problem. His gambling addict father is tangled in a mess of debts to two of Houston's toughest loan sharks. With the family gym on the line, there's only one way for Kelly to make everything right. He agrees to fight for the Albanian mob in an underground bare-knuckle tournament.

But winning the tournament and saving his family's legacy comes at a high price - one that just might cost Bee her life.

3.5 STARS GOOD BUT JUST NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING

Warning.... don't (as I did) look at the cover mm...mm..mm, read the Summary and think "that sounds like a great book about a hot sexy ex Marine Alpha Fighter and Bodyguard who's going to be a strong character and a demanding lover" (or is it only me that thinks that?) because sorry it's not. Now that's to say it's a bad story because it wasn't but it just wasn't what I was expecting at all from that cover picture.

This is more about Bee, the Heroine, who's a rich successful Entrepreneur but because of the awful narration of her, she sounds more like a sixteen year old girl and she acts and does some stupid things. However, Kelly, his family, the other characters (both good and evil) along with his fellow bodyguards all thankfully make up for her. There's a stalker, blackmail, loan sharks, Russian mobsters, a short glimpse into a few underground fights and a dead brother whose secrets causes problems. Instant love, a little romance, an explicit but sweet sex scene, some 'duh as if' scenes, drama, twists, surprises and some tense situations all added up to a fairly enjoyable listen.

Dual POV's ok narration except for the Heroine's too young awful awful voice.

Worth a credit? I felt like I was missing something during this story because so many of the characters mentioned events from the past and I now see that the author has another series (Her Russian Protector) and so I think I would have enjoyed and gotten more out of this book if I'd listened to them first. However, I didn't so all I can finally say is that it was an ok listen, not what I was expecting, with no Alpha Hero in sight but still just about creditworthy.

like the story but not the accents

Lena did not have a Russian accent, compared to the stories that I have listened to.

wrong accent for Lena

enjoyed listening to the book with the exception of Lena's accent. The character is NOT Russian. She is Latino with a slight Spanish accent as in the other audible books by Roxie Rivera the Russian Protector series.

Wow! The poor hero became a puppy.

What would have made In Kelly's Corner better?

A different ending. The story was a little over the top in places but was pretty good until it veered into the land of the ridiculous. The whole story was built around the fight and the stalker. In the end, the fight was really much ado about nothing and the h became a self righteous rich b**ch whose job became to fix everything herself. She lied and sneaked around but was outraged when people didn't believe her. The 'brother' revelations added nothing to the story except to give it a bit of drama at the expense of a dead guy. There was no H in this book. He was totally emasculated by the author.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Clementine Cage?

Someone who can pull off a Russian accent and who doesn't sound like she's 14.

Great story

Great story and narration. Would have liked Bea to be a tad more street smart and trust kelly-there were def a couple of moments that I thought "oh god, you may be a brilliant programmer, but you are so damn stupid". I do look forward to seeing more of Roxie Rivera's books make it to audible ASAP!

story was great. the only complaint was when she voiced Lena. she made her sound Russian and that is not Lena's heritage.

Great Read

Well written, great characters and storyline. It pulled me in and made me want to keep reading. I loved the brothers and their bond. Alpha strong and still had feelings. Bee is sweet and in trouble. It had trouble on every page, interesting and well thought out. I enjoyed and recommend it to all.

Highly enjoyable

Any additional comments?

The Fighting Connollys is a spin off series to the Her Russian Protector series. I've read book one in that series back in 2013.

There are a lot of secondary characters who have books in the Her Russian Protector series, however you don't need to read those to fully enjoy In Kelly's Corner. But I Will. :)

Clementine did a phenomenal job on the voices and accents in this story. Every character had a different voice. There was even a difference between narration and inner monologue than speaking voices. It was brilliantly done! She brought this incredibly steamy, exciting and sometimes crushing story to life.

So why not a five? I guessed who the stalker was in the beginning of the story. I'm not sure if the author meant for that to happen or not.

Overall, a highly enjoyable story and I hope Clementine stays on to finish the series.
