Publisher's summary

It's Christmas in Half-Moon Hollow and newly turned vampire Iris Scanlon-Calix wants to make Gigi's first visit home from college as normal and special as possible. It's taken months for Iris to work up the nerve to spend time around her baby sister after her vampire transition, so she enlists help from Jane Jameson and Company to keep her blood-thirst under control and assure Gigi's safety. Gigi, on the other hand, has problems of her own, including the demise of her relationship with high school sweetheart, Ben, and a looming job interview with Ophelia Lambert, the scariest potential employer in the Hollow. And then there's the small matter of the handsome, frustrating vampire who keeps appearing in Gigi's peripheral vision, then disappearing before she can talk to him. Can the Scanlon sisters negotiate romantic problems, vampire politics, and Christmas cookie disasters and enjoy a relatively normal holiday?

A quirky & snarky Halfmoon Hollow Christmas gift

A Halfmoon Hollow Christmas gift from the wonderfully quirky & snarky pen of Molly Harper.

If you haven't read any of Molly's work before then I suggest you give your self an early Christmas present and do so now, starting with Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs: Jane Jameson, Book 1.

I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas is a short story that manages to bring together all your Hollow favorites and covers Gigi's return home to the Hollow from college and to her married recently turned vampire older sister Iris (The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires Half-Moon Hollow, Book 1).

This books only issue is it finishes too soon . . .

Amanda Ronconi does her usual excellent narration, bringing all of Molly's wonderful quirky characters to life. I hope the pairing of this dynamic duo of author and narrator continues in future releases.

A feelgood Christmas tale that will brighten your day and bring a smile to your face

Enjoy

Bacon-wrapped Rosemary-infused Roast Turkey

I made the best Thanksgiving turkey ever this year. We're talking melt-in-the-mouth, thirds please, no need to freeze leftovers in large aluminum packages that will be ceremonially discarded in the spring good. I posted a photo on my Facebook page. If was my first food-I'd-cooked photo, and it got likes. Lots of likes.

The recipe is in Molly Harper's "I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas" (Audible November 17, 2014; prInt 2013). It's No. 2.7 in the Half-Moon Hollow Vampire series. I think the genre is Vampire/Romance, and it's in whatever romance sub genre where strong, well educated women who have STEM jobs and don't compromise their values find True Love.

I read vampire/horror mostly as a teenager. I stayed up one hot and humid summer night and read Ann Rice's "Interview With the Vampire" (1976) straight through. Stephen King's "'Salem's Lot" (1975). There were Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's Saint-Germaine Chronicles, which show my age. I've read/listened to parts of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series (2005 - 2008) but not too closely - those books are annoyingly overwrought melodramas, perfect for Young Adults but the kind of writing that inspired Lady Gaga's song "Bad Romance" (2009).

Harper's Half-Moon Hollow is a departure from classic vampire lore and imagines a world where Vampires, who have been around for millennia come out of the closet and join the 21st Century. Technology, tolerance, innovation, and careful financial planning made it possible.

Gigi's sister, Iris, was made undead to save her; and Gigi's on Christmas college break for the first time since Iris transitioned. The results are just plain funny, and so is Gigi's self analysis. Gigi's self confident and secure in the way a mother wants for her daughter.

I'm definitely not a romance reader, and this didn't change that - but I will use this series and writer as a reason not to sniff at the whole genre. The narrator was fine - but almost too mature sounding for a college student.

Clever Christmas Cheer!

Don't miss this free holiday gift from Molly Harper -- it's delightful. If you're already following the series, you will recognize many of the characters of Half Moon Hollow. If you're not, it's time you're introduced. This is not the usual romance story -- more like just a holiday gathering of the whole wacky group. It is told from Gigi's viewpoint and is full of the usual humor and snarky remarks between characters, plus there are some holiday recipes given at the end. Amanda Ronconi is awesome as usual.

Take advantage of this free download and add some fun to your Christmas season!

Very good Half-Moon Hollow Holiday Story :D

4 stars

This was a very enjoyable story. It's not a full story but more of a holiday short that lets us Molly Harper fans see our favorite characters for Christmas and get some of Gigi's story.

This story is told from the PoV of Gigi, Iris' (from The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires) younger sister who has been away at college. Iris turned vampire while Gigi was away (a planned turning) but has been very nervous of attacking her and so Gigi hasn't been home in months, finally getting to come home for the Christmas holidays.

The story basically entails Gigi and Iris reconnecting and finding themselves again as sisters now that many things have changed. Meanwhile, Gigi is interviewing for a job with the Vampire Counsel (which none of her family is happy about) and she has to handle her declining relationship with her high school sweetheart, Ben. Not to mention she believes she's being followed by a vampire that can disappear in to thin air...either that or she's going nuts. It gives an interesting glimpse in to Gigi's head and also we get to see all our Half-Moon Hollow favorites for the holiday.

The story does leave off with some unanswered questions about things coming up in Gigi's life that gives a good indication that she'll probably get her own book soon. This was a humorous holiday story, everything we'd expect from Molly Harper. Amanda Ronconi did a great job on the narration as usual. I'd recommend it but it's probably best for people that have some familiarity with Molly Harper's book set in Half-Moom Hollow. :D

Such A Tease

This was a freebie from Audible, yeah Holidays!! I really liked this sweet little visit with all our friends in Half Moon Hollow, but it totally leaves you hanging!! I want to know what is going to happen with GiGi!!!!

This is a very sweet thought, but a crazy tease at the same time. And not even a possible release date or teaser for GiGi's book! I really enjoyed the gift but it is like opening the batteries before you discover the toy under the tree!

The book of course carries Molly Harper's delicious wit and special brand of snark, I just wish it had been more of a visit with friends and less of a teaser for the next book. Any fan of the series will enjoy book, but if you have not read the previous books you may walk away feeling like you did not get the full story. It is definitely not a stand alone.

Amanda Ronconi is a good narrator as always!! Although I have discovered her voices are very similar from book to book. She is one of my favourites and a delight to my ears

Gigi & Christmas in Half Moon Hollow

This was more of a 3.75 star, not quite a 4-star because of the very slight cliff-hanger.

this is Novella was both Gigi's story and a Christmas in the Half-Moon Hollows story. It's been 3 years since she went off to college. She is still dating Ben, although they've hit a rut, and she is coming home from the first time since Iris followed through on her promise to Cal. Both sisters are a little nervous, but it is obvious these sisters missed each other.

I loved this story. I love how Cal has really taken to his role as "man in the house" with gusto. Iris and Cal are still going strong, the whole gang, Orphelia, Jane etc make appearances in this Christmas edition.

Expect the same quirky narration by Amanda Roncini, expect the same kind of humorous story and expect the same kind of light-hearted, fluffy, yet entertaining story as the previous two stories.
