Publisher's summary

Book two of Brides of the Kindred. Book one, Claimed, is also available in audio. Books three and four, Sought and Found, are coming to audio by the end of 2015.

Sophia Waterhouse has always been afraid of needles and vampires, so there's no way she wants anything to do with a modern-day Count Dracula - even if he does come wrapped in the package of a huge Kindred warrior with blond hair and ice-blue eyes. She's only on the Kindred Mothership to participate in her sister Liv's wedding, and that's all.

Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred who has made a sacred vow never to call a bride. After a devastating rejection on his home planet, his heart is a block of ice no one can melt - or so he thinks until he meets Sophia.

When their ship is forced down in the middle of a rugged mountain range, Sophia and Sylvan are stranded. Running for their lives, they have only each other to depend on. Will they give in to the intense attraction between them, or will the evil hunting Sophia take its toll? You'll have to listen to Brides of the Kindred book two - Hunted to find out.

SADLY, I'VE GOT MIXED FEELINGS ON THIS

There were a few times during the first half of this listen when I thought I couldn't continue any longer and my finger was hovering over 'stop' more than once as Sophia was so annoying, naive, whimpy and child-like there was also far too much not-quite-sex sex just lots of talk and action around the lapping of her 'juices'..... enough already t.m.i.!!

However, the storyline grew into a much more enjoyable listen when Sophia and Sylvan were made to leave the ship and there were interesting and humorous times as well as an exciting rescue. I can't argue that this is a very imaginative realm with well described imagery, a bounty of characters and there are a lot of sub plots which adds more depth to the story, but throughout the whole story whimpering Sophia (rightly or wrongly) was rejecting Sylvan who was so loving, loyal and the perfect understanding Warrior and it got too repetitive.

There was the constant threat by the Scourge and the evil AllFather relentlessly and mercilessly tortured his poor son Xairn and others and he still hasn't found the woman with 'the mark' to fulfil the Prophecy..... and his sperm's getting ready to impregnate her - willing or not.... yuk and barf.

Worth a credit? Elements were good, narration was great but I didn't feel the 'romance' of the story and it just didn't hold my attention mainly because of the heroine's constant high anxiety level and this veered off course from erotica/romance into a pity party. For a romance to work properly you've got to love the hero but you also have to like the heroine too. I won't ask for a refund on this and it's such a shame but I also don't think I'll be continuing with this series.

Eye Rolls

So the first book was pretty good, but this one not so much I had to skip couple parts mostly the main female character drama and whining it was just too much sometimes, she kept confusing the warrior guy. I know she had some trauma in the past but I wanted to tell her to shot up and get some Xanax (high Anxiety much) and therapy, listening to her it was kinda painful. Hopefully the next book has a stronger female character.

Not Bad....Not Bad At All! :-)

After listening to the first book in this series I was skeptical about moving on to the second book, but this story did not disappointment. (It was much better than book one :-)!

The world Evangeline has created is unique with interesting concepts and the character development was great. There are several different POV’s and I really enjoyed learning about the different characters; even the bad ones. The plot is well written and will transition smoothly into the next book where we will learn more about the existing characters as well as new ones.

Overall, I was very pleased with the story and have actually recommended this series to several of my friends. So far, they’ve all said positive things about this series.

**Recommended for those who like Sci-fi Romances with a little erotica thrown in to spice it up!

I've never wanted to slap a character more.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I enjoyed the storyline; I've read the series. It was the narration that did me in.

What could Evangeline Anderson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

When I read the book I only wanted to slap the female lead because she was so babyish. Evangeline brought that trait out, front and center, so much, that I couldn't stand even to listen to the book. So, I guess, she did her job very well (so sorry for the left-handed complement).

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The female leads whining voice killed this for me.

Any additional comments?

I've read this series and I like the storyline. I enjoyed the series, in book form. It kills me to say this, because I hate to say anything bad about anyone, but it was the narration that killed this book for me.

Sophia is a Shallow, Vapid Prude

I listened to the previous book and found Olivia to be annoying and shallow, but I thought i would give the series a second chance. I was wrong. Sophia is a shallow, vapid prude. Her fear of Sylvan is overwrought to an extreme that is ridiculous. My eyes actually hurt from rolling them so much.

I don't know if the author is going for the Alpha domination or what but the women in her books experience paralyzing panic at the sight of these men. They supposedly are all experienced with sex but they act like they were completely shielded and virginal. It's annoying. Rather than dialog so the characters sort out their misunderstanding and confusion, we get internal monologues about how scary they find the males. Take it to the next level and actually develop the characters beyond wooden props! This is very frustrating.

The sex scenes are written with nearly every cliche you can imagine. Repetition of phrases that are cheesy doesn't make me like them any more the fifth or sixth time. It takes me out of the story. Sweet little this and tight little that just sounds corny after a while. Someone buy the author a thesaurus. Don't get me started on the narrator's reading of these words. She has a way of making the hottest phrases sound almost clinical.

I'm at chapter 15 but I don't know if I can go any further. I would also like to ask - who is the story about, anyway? We have Olivia & Baird bonding, Sophia and Sylvan on the run and Kat and the Twins "getting acquainted." The jumping around is confusing and poorly constructed. It feels like an amateur erotica author wrote these.

Whining more than my 4 year old!

The story was good but Sophie whines so much I started skipping when she talks. She got on my nerves so bad! I would be fine if she gets killed off in the next book!

Fantastic All Around!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves great paranormal reads. I have the ebook and having the audible is fantastic because I can listen to the stories I love while doing everything that needs to be done but also because this series is most definitely one of my favorite paranormal series and should be read and listened to by many.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love all of the characters but of course in this book Sylvan has my heart. It's his story and you experience how much he wants Sophia and throughout the whole story you want him to finally have his mate. However, I'm absolutely read to have Locke, Deep and Kat's story. The buildup of their story in this book definitely makes you crave Sought.

What does Anne Johnstonbrown bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to the audible of Hunted by Anne Johnstonbrown was amazing. I love how every characters personality shows even when listening to the audible instead of reading the book and no characters voice is the same. Every characters stubbornness, protectiveness, determination and love I experienced when reading the book couldn't have been displayed better than this; I personally don't think it can get better than this. I truly hope Anne Johnstonbrown is chosen to do every book in the Brides of the Kindred series because I cannot see anyone else doing a more perfect job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There wasn't a moment in the book that particularly moved me but I enjoyed it immensely and have more than a few good laughs.

Hunted: Brides of the Kindred, Book 2

What did you like best about Hunted? What did you like least?

I have never reviewed an audio-book, let alone actually listened to one so this is new territory for me.
I struggled with this book, though I enjoyed the fact that I could wander about and get stuff done whilst listening to the book but I also think it distracted me. I didn't much like the voice of the narrator and I guess it must be hard to "put" on character voices.

I loved the concept that story was about - The Kindred, basically alien vampires but found the main female lead Sophie to be annoying as hell.

For all it was an audio-book, I think I would have preferred to have read it to get a better feel of the story, maybe it was the narrator but I had a hard time imaging what she was saying sometimes. For example I thought she was describing Sylvan as a female at first as I could have swore she called him Sylvia....

Overall it was good and I am going to give this 3.5 stars
