Publisher's Summary

Abigail is more than ready for a change when she inherits a cottage from her beloved mentor, knitting guru Eliza Carpenter. Leaving the oppressive city for the greener pastures of a small California beach town, she intends to turn her cozy little windfall into a knitting shop and spend her days spinning, designing, and purling. But she’s not going to be welcomed with open arms by her new neighbor.

Eliza’s disgruntled nephew, the gorgeous Cade, now owns everything surrounding Abigail’s ramshackle new home, and he views this sexy city girl as an unwanted interloper.

But chemistry working overtime is drawing two very different people closer than they ever thought possible, and when the past that Abigail thought she’d left behind comes calling, she’ll have to somehow learn to trust her handsome adversary with much more than just her heart.

Sew much more: listen to another Cypress Hollow Yarn.

    "A lovely romance with knitting!"
    Any additional comments?

I loved this story that put romance and knitting together. It was fun to listen to while I was knitting and I enjoyed the characters and story. I especially liked the romance. Although it was obvious where it was going, I did enjoy how the story unfolded. I will definitely be reading the next in the series.

Poorly writen, totally predictable, no depth to characters. I stuck it out to the end hoping that it would get better but was disappointed.

    Story
    "Unlikable Hero"

    ** 2.5 stars **

How to Knit a Love Song was okay, fine, but I didn't love it, or even enjoy it that much. Abigail was a decent heroine, didn't annoy me as much as other readers. I liked that she was obsessed with yarn and creating beautiful objects with great yarn. She was way impulsive and prone to falling all over the place. Cade, on the other hand....

I could not stand the man. He was rude, judgment, prone to jump to stupid conclusions, and not above using another woman to hurt Abigail. I did not get his appeal and I was not in board with the romance.

As for the narration: I've definitely heard worse, but I didn't think this narrator was a good fit for the story and characters.

"If you like a racy story, this book is for you."

I, personally, don't like reading books with explicit sex. I know plenty women do. So I won't say this is a bad book, it's just not for me. I fast forwarded through the unnecessary parts to listen all the way to the end. The narrator is excellent, able to change her voice for different characters very entertainingly. And the story did hold my interest.

"A suspenseful, funny, and romantic story!"

It was a fun, and great story! I never want to shut it off while I was listening to it. I can't wait to listen to book 2 and the narrator was fantastic!

"Erotica should be included in the genre!!"
What did you like best about How to Knit a Love Song? What did you like least?

This was a fairly good plot.... however, less is best when it comes to sex over the air waves. I was VERY disappointed that this was included in the book and there was no mention of this type of genre in the descriptions. I did a WHOLE lot of fast forwarding since I don't care to hear that crap. BE WARNED, it's very little about knitting and a WHOLE LOT about SEX.

Would you ever listen to anything by Rachael Herron again?

Probably not since it is so filled with erotic descriptions.

Have you listened to any of Carrington MacDuffie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    no

Was How to Knit a Love Song worth the listening time?

    no

    Story
    "disappointing"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The explicit sexual descriptions were unnecessary.

What was most disappointing about Rachael Herron’s story?

The story had so much potential, but including all of the main characters sexual encounters detracted and maligned the story.

Have you listened to any of Carrington MacDuffie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm not sure. The performance was well done.

Do you think How to Knit a Love Song needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I would like to see a follow up book, but concentrating more on the fun elements of knitting and yarn.

"Love story with a bit of an edge"

I was looking for lighthearted romance, and a bit of knitting thrown in wouldn't hurt either. Unfortunately, while the basic story was interesting, it was spoiled for me by rather explicit sex and violence. I realize that doesn't bother everyone, but it was harder to listen to than I expected.
