Publisher's summary

He saved Peyton Lockhart’s life when they were kids - but now she’s all grown up and he’s a seasoned FBI agent who comes to her rescue again in the new contemporary romance from number-one New York Times best-selling author Julie Garwood.

Peyton and her sisters have inherited Bishop’s Cove, a small, luxurious oceanfront resort, but it comes with conditions: The girls must run the resort for one year and show a profit - only then will they own it.

A graduate of a prestigious French culinary school, Peyton has just lost her job as a food critic after rightfully accusing her boss of sexual harassment. Out of work and in a bad place personally, to Peyton a year doing something completely different sounds wonderful. Peyton dives into learning the resort business but is quickly derailed by an escalating chain of events that puts her life in danger. She refuses to be intimidated - until she’s nearly killed. Then she calls on her childhood friend and protector, Finn MacBain, now with the FBI, and asks for his help. Finn is more than happy to do a favor for Peyton, but he doesn’t plan on dealing with the beautiful, passionate woman she has become.

There are countless challenges and too many people who want to stop Peyton and her sisters from succeeding. Among them are their contentious cousins and a powerful group of land developers who have been eyeing the coveted beachfront property. And it also becomes apparent that her old boss holds a serious grudge and believes in payback.

While the attraction between Peyton and Finn flames bright enough to distract them both from their dangerous situation, a happily ever after ending seems all but impossible. But the well-trained lawman never loses focus: He saved her life once; now he must do it again.

Hallmark Mystery Lite

I really enjoyed the voice of the reader; her reading is so animated. If you like the movies of the hallmark mystery channel, you’ll like this book. It’s a simple and enjoyable story.

Julie Garwood is a master story teller!

Finn was Peyton's next door neighbor when she was a
small child, he rescued her from drowning. He became
her hero, she waited on him after school to tell him
about her day. Finn became an FBI agent, he was
Peyton's Hotshot! I loved when they met again
years later and the sparks fly! Peyton knows
Finn would always be there if she needed him.
I love this story, I have read and listened to it
numerous times. We all need a Finn! Thank
you, Julie for writing my favorite FBI story
with Finn and Peyton.

Good story. Bad Performer

I finally finished the book but it was difficult to get past McFadden's Valley Girl voice. She sounded about 12 years old and she butchered the Minnesota accent with shades of Valley Girl. Book was another good Garwood story but get a new performer!

Interesting and Enjoyable

I enjoyed this story by J. Garwood. I have enjoyed many of her stories. This book was long and interesting. The story is woven well, timed well. Not as fast as many ChickLit books but this is a book you can savor. The sex is sexy not repulsive. It is a well written love story with danger, mystery, etc. involved. Amy McFadden brought her professional narration and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She made the story better.

Julie Garwood is always fun, sweet, & funny....

Any additional comments?

Though her voice is pleasant, Ms. McFadden seemed to have difficulty keeping the characters accents & attitudes straight. Girls from Texas (and others) ended up at times with a flat Minnesota accent. Frustratingly inconsistent.

Great romance, action! It's an excellent listen!

If you could sum up Hotshot in three words, what would they be?

Touching, passionate and gripping

Who was your favorite character and why?

Finn is my favorite Character. He is strong and the hero of course but he is also flawed and has to over come his need to be alone so that he avoids becoming vulnerable. Peyton wonderfully shows him the way through that. She also is a wonderful Character. Her determination to do the right thing in the face of evil as well as stand up to her family with her cousin all make her a great character in the story.

What about Amy McFadden’s performance did you like?

Amy McFadden is clear and easy to understand

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I have actually listened to it three times now, never in one sitting but I always wish I could have.

Any additional comments?

This is one of my favorite audio books. I really enjoy the story and the characters. I do some times feel like Amy McFadden reads in a slightly perfunctory cadence which is not always preferable.

Good in between Read - Narrated Very Well

Found this book to be a quick read. Not one of her best but it was funny and the narrator she did great. Texan accent needs work but she nailed Minnesota. It was a little bit of an odd story. And a little far-fetched for FBI mystery. But definitely a good read. If you’re looking for some thing as an in-between book to your next series this would be it
