Publisher's summary

Would you rather know a truth that makes you feel hopeless, or keep believing the lies? Beloved and bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with the spellbinding story of two young people with devastating pasts who embark on a passionate, intriguing journey to discover the lessons of life, love, trust--and above all, the healing power that only truth can bring.

Sky, a senior in high school, meets Dean Holder, a guy with a promiscuous reputation that rivals her own. From their very first encounter, he terrifies and captivates her. Something about him sparks memories of her deeply troubled past, a time she's tried so hard to bury.

Though Sky is determined to stay far away from him, his unwavering pursuit and enigmatic smile break down her defenses and the intensity of the bond between them grows. But the mysterious Holder has been keeping secrets of his own, and once they are revealed, Sky is changed forever and her ability to trust may be a casualty of the truth.

Only by courageously facing the stark revelations can Sky and Holder hope to heal their emotional scars and find a way to live and love without boundaries. Hopeless is a novel that will leave you breathless, entranced, and remembering your own first love.

Emotions. Like all of them.

This book made me laugh, cry, yell, cry some more, audibly “aww”, raise my expectations for whomever I date, and then some.

I don’t know how she does it. I don’t know how she CONTINUES to do it. But god damn it Colleen STOP MAKING ME FEEL FEELINGS.

Seriously, now I’m sitting here debating about diving into “Losing Hope” or to breathe and dwell on what Hoover just put me through.

10/10 will go through it again though 😂

So unexpectedly good

When I bought this book knowing it was one of Hoover’s older books, I never thought it would be nearly as good as the newer ones. Boy was I wrong. The twists and turns were sporadic enough to keep me interested the whole time. It DID take a chapter or two to get into it. But once I got into it, I couldn’t stop.

Slow start but with it….

The overall story was very good! Written very well I didn’t expect anything less from one of Colleen’s books. It was a slow start but I feel like maybe it was the narrator’s voice it was painful to listen to her. Very monotone without any type of emotion. Before I got to the middle I didn’t think I’d finish it. It was a hard listen for me.

Slow start but worth holding out for!

Define takes a while to get into the story but then it takes a twisted turn that’s so unexpected. Blew my mind! Great listen tho and totally worth the slow start.

Good story & twist

This was a very interesting book. But I had to fast forward thru some of very long and drawn out moments. I’m an A type person so the very long drawn chapters really bother me. But all in all, it’s a good book.

Struggled at first

The beginning was kind of slow, got juicier and more intriguing towards the end. I kept dreading that maybe they were going to find out they were brother and sister separated somehow. So glad it turned out that they were childhood friends, a much better ending.

Gets better, keep reading…

This one started out really slow for me and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but it got much better and I couldn’t stop. Highly recommend!

Loved the story!

The story was amazing! It kept me listening from beginning to end. The only issue I had was with some of the audio. It wasn’t the narrator, she was good, but the words were often cut off, and sometimes the same sentence was spoken twice in a row.
