Publisher's summary

Things are out of control for the Sinclair boys! With two already in the NHL, Jace Sinclair is ready to follow in his brothers' huge skates in the last Bellevue Bullies novel.

Jace Sinclair here, and I'm amazing. There is no other way to describe me. I am the leading scorer for the Bellevue Bullies, I'm the captain, and people love me: my family, my teammates, my coach, and the NHL. This is my last year in college - I already have one foot in the draft. Hockey keeps me warm even when it's freezing. It's always there when nothing else is. And it pushes me to be the best I can be. It's my one and only love.

That is, until I see her against a tree with a guitar. Avery. The last thing I wanted was to meet anyone. My heart is on the bench because of what happened with my parents, and I don't want that for myself. I don't want to be hurt by anyone. I can't give them that power. But my heart is begging for ice time, and I can't control it around her.

I've always been in the background. No one has ever had time for me, and that's fine; I've learned to cope. Coming from a family where hockey is life, the last thing I want is some big, burly hockey player charging at me. I don't have time for it, but Jace Sinclair isn't one to be deked around.

I didn't want to meet anyone. I didn't want to end up freezing the puck with him. It's not what I want. I have demons. I have issues. Living in the shadows, no one even knew until it was too late. But Jace wants to know. He wants me. And that scares me the living hell out of me.

We were so worried about what would happen if we fell, but we never thought what could happen in the process of falling. We never saw it coming. But it's here, and the repercussions are not pretty. We should have known that there is no way out of the zone when you are being hooked by love.

Hooked by Love

Again I wished I had listen to these in the order they were written, it would have made the story lines match up a lot better.

Over all I enjoyed this book, Jace and Avery overcome a lot in this book and there struggle is real. I forgot how young Jace is because he is so wise.

Don’t get me wrong this story worked but know what I know about Marcus and all that before this book it was again wishing I had listen before that book. So yeah I am glad I finished this series.

I won’t be listing to the other series because the narration is a deal breaker for me.

The narration on this book was fantastic I am a huge fan of both these narrators.

I think Toni forgot what she wrote in prev books

I'm sitting here listening to this book and I'm halfway through. So far this is my favorite of the three. Jude's being second. Sadly because I hate Baylor Jayden's is third, even though I LOVED Jayden. But what has me laughing in astonishment and totally thinking WTF, I think Toni forgot what she has written in the previous two books. All the crap that is flowing out of Jude's and Jayden's mouths as relationship advice astounds me. Dude she lies to you, you've only been with her a short while. What's more important her or hockey? Can you stop loving her?You can get over a relationship but hockey, blah blah blah. Really Jude. Hahah all of this could have been said to Jude. ALL of this applied to him as well. It's sad how they are all judgy judgy on Jace's relationship. Now it would have been ok if Jace had called them out on their hypocrisy but he didn't so it's almost as if those two previous books didn't happen.

Fact checking should have happened.

Jace's second chance at the draft.

Note: This book overlaps with the Assassins series. If you would like to read the books of the two series in order, before reading this book you should read Overtime (Kacey and Jordie's story). After this book, you should read Rushing the Goal (Lucy and Benji's story).

It was hard watching Jace lose his chance at entering the draft with Jayden when he took a hit for Baylor, his teammate and friend, on the ice in Clipped by Love. Without that happening, though, he would've never had the chance to meet Avery.

Jace is possibly the cockiest of the Sinclair boys, which is really saying something. Considering the cockiness of Jude in Boarded by Love, it is hard to believe, but it's true. With both of his older brothers in the NHL, this is his year. He is going to be captain of the Bellevue Bullies, like both of his brothers, and generally attempt to outdo them in any and every way. He fancies himself a 'player' and is excited for all of the different women he will sleep with this year. Despite his cockiness and assurance that he's a player, though, Jace does have a good heart.

Avery sees right through Jace's playboy persona to the man he really is. Choosing to go to Bellevue in Nashville, TN was her chance to get out from under her family's thumb and follow her dreams. Her plan was to focus on her studies and her music to be as successful as possible. She is determined to make it as a singer/song writer. She wants absolutely nothing to do with men, particularly hockey players. The very cocky and determined Jace, though, is throwing a very large wrench into her plan. But with Jace showing true interest in her, she lets him in and comes to depend on him.

Avery's family is full of jerks. She is the only girl of four children. All of her brothers play hockey and have her whole life. Her dad is commissioner of the NHL. Her entire life has been about hockey and her brothers. She feels absolutely no love from her family, who don't seem to care about her happiness, just their own agendas. Her family's focus of making her brothers' dreams of being in the NHL come true eclipses all else. To the point that they turn a blind eye to how horribly her brothers treat her, especially her twin. After all in their eyes, if she were just supportive and would come home, it wouldn't be a problem (as if).

It was hard to read about Avery's lack of love and support and the hostility of her brothers towards her. What was also difficult to hear about was her struggles with depression as a result of all of this. Her parents believe her brothers when they say she's just looking for attention, even when she attempts suicide. While her illness is completely understandable and nothing to be ashamed of, her family doesn't see it that way. As a result, she is also ashamed of her illness and incredibly hesitant to tell anybody the details, even Jace. Her brothers will do anything in their power to sabotage her though, even downplaying her illness and pushing the image of her being crazy and completely unstable to Jace's brother Jude, which of course gets back to Jace.

All of the forces in Avery's life take their toll on her and Jace's relationship. Jace's love and assurance that he isn't going anywhere isn't enough to make her feel secure in their relationship. But when she discovers the unthinkable, that she's pregnant, Jace proves that he is all in. The two do find their HEA by the end of the book and there is no cliffhanger.

series is good but

not until this last book did I realize the Sinclair brothers are three spoiled, self centered, douche canoes. if I'd known Jace would turn out way weak and honestly to stupid to live if not have invested the hours.
as for the writing.... Toni Aleo writes a hell of a story there's no dragging along or skipping pages. I'll always read her books. this one just was too much for me.

female narrator ruined it

The story seems interesting but I just couldn't get pass the female narrator and therefore could'nt get pass the first few chapters. Joe Arden is always awesome but I'll be avoiding anything read by Felicity Munroe.

Best of the series!

I just really enjoyed this entire series and this final book was the best of all. The near Instalove between the heroine and the hero is so sweet to watch. They have a lot of challenges, the biggest being her family and the 'surprise' that they have come up. I really grew to hate her brother Maddy too! The narration was just great and I totally recommend this audiobook!
