Honeymoon in Paris takes place several years before the events to come in The Girl You Left Behind when both couples have just married. Sophie is swept up in the glamour of Belle Epoque Paris but discovers that loving a celebrated artist like Edouard Lefevre brings undreamt of complications. Following in Sophie's footsteps a hundred years later, Liv, after a whirlwind romance, finds her Parisian honeymoon is not quite the romantic getaway she had been hoping for....
This enchanting self-contained story will have you falling in love with both young brides, and with Paris then and now, and it is the perfect appetizer for the The Girl You Left Behind, a spellbinding story of love, devotion, and passion in the hardest of times.

I ignore genre labels. Some of my favorite books are outside my genre comfort zone. Listening to audiobooks is still reading. Not theater.
If I only read this novella, I am not sure I would have rated this quite so highly. But this is a prequel to The Girl I Left Behind, which I read immediately after. The Girl I Left Behind was complete enough that if I had not read Honeymoon in Paris, I would have still been able to follow the story. But reading Honeymoon first, gave me great background information that did fill in a few blanks in The Girl I Left Behind. The only disconnect was, the newlywed groom in Honeymoon was evidently a far better husband than he came across in Honeymoon. He comes close to sainthood in The Girl I Left Behind.
The two narrators did a great job. It was easy to follow the shifts in time. This is a lovely little book and I highly recommend it. If you have not yet read The Girl I Left Behind, I definitely recommend reading Honeymoon first.
Short and sweet, as satisfying as a perfect fig. Jojo Moyes gives you just enough to taste the brie, smell the baguette and savor the foie gras of 1912 Paris interspersed with 2002 Paris. So well paced, constantly drifting between Sophie and Edouard Lefevre in France during the First World War and 100 years later Liv Halston and her husband David honeymooning in Paris. Moyes scribes vibrant narrative and poignantly paints the passion and pains of those first throws of a relationship. Not simply a love story, Honeymoon in Paris is fascinating historical fiction as well. The ending is amazingly satisfying, which is no easy feat! And yet, there's a novel to which this is actually a prelude - The Girl You Left Behind. Very much looking forward to listening to that now. The narrators, Clare Corbett and Penny Rawlings were excellent. Give this book a solid 10.
This is a must listen....and then you MUST continue with the sequel..." The Girl I Left Behind"....she is a gifted writer...truly. And the narrators can not be better...phenomenal....
I didn't realize it was a novella so I was quite surprised when it suddenly ended! I hadn't ever listened to one so I didn't think to check the run time. I'm used to unabridged novels so that's the only drawback for me. However, it was a very enjoyable and uplifting story. Thought the narrating was perfect. Could never really complain about listening to British and French accents set in current day and 1912 Paris! Just wish there were more of it! I will definitely try another JoJo Moyes offering.
This prequel is a must read for those interested in The girl you left behind. The prequel definitely makes a more enriching read! You must read both books.
I enjoyed this prequel very much. The marketing strategy worked in this case; although I always intended to read The Girl You Left Behind, the prequel was interesting enough to make me move it up on my reading list. The back stories were interesting and gives a good foundation fort he book; I found I cared what happens to the characters and wanted to read more. The narration was good, although it took me a bit to be able to understand everything the French character said.
**Update** I just read The Girl You Left Behind and was surprised to see that in the book, Liv gets the painting in Barcelona. It is nothing like the prequel. Oh well, I still feel that I had a good foundation for the characters when I read the full book.
