Publisher's summary

Anne caught her husband cheating with the maid of honor before their wedding cake was cut. She decided to take her planned and paid for honeymoon in Tuscany, alone. On the evening of what was to be her wedding night, she gets bitten by a female vampire.

Marcus Monteleone has waited 300 years to find his fated female, only to discover her dying in his arms. He saves Anne's life by turning her, and then works to gain her trust, to cope with being a newly-formed golden vampire.

But when Anne finds out Marcus has not been completely truthful about his past, she vows to live as a human, and shuns the vampire world. Alone and unprotected, she falls prey to the very villainess who took her human soul, and who now takes the only man she’s ever loved.

Which lover will have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the other before they both are lost?

AWESOME SERIES

Would you consider the audio edition of Honeymoon Bite to be better than the print version?

Not better... the book is fabulous, but the audible just adds to it and makes it even more powerful

What did you like best about this story?

I have been a PNR fan from way back... Ms. Hamilton makes the story and characters truly believable.

Have you listened to any of J. D. Hart’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think that JD Hart does an amazing job or narrating for Sharon. He brings the books and stories to life!!.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are many points in the book that moved me... both to tears and laughter. Loved this series and can't wait for the next issue.

Any additional comments?

Ms. Hamilton is an extremely gifted author. Those that have not read her books are definitely missing out. I highly recommend anything Ms. Hamilton writes.

All over the place

Just before writing this review I perused other reviews on Amazon and Goodreads to see where my opinion falls. Things are mixed, there are many who loved it and some like myself who did not. I kept being confused by the fans, maybe they saw something I did not. Hey it happens, there are plenty of books out there I did not like that became best sellers and have millions of fans. This is simply my two cents as an avid reader.

The concept as outlined in the blurb is great. I was really intrigued by it and excited to read the story. I really liked the idea of Golden Vampires and wish that had been fleshed out more. I would have loved more world building. Things are very jumpy story wise. There are a lot of side stories going on that take away from the main plot. I think this book could have done with major editing down of the story.

It would have been great to have more of the struggle Anna faced as a new vampire with out any guidance. Perhaps even go into how she felt about the people she drained while feeding. That felt glossed over. It almost seemed as though she were not bothered by those deaths, which bothered me.

The story telling is non-linear at times and a little tricky to follow in audio. One moment I am in Tuscany then I am at a flashback of a gangbang the groom had before the wedding, then right back to the present. Several times I had to rewind the audio to figure out what happened. It was very distracting and confusing as a listener.

The main story is about Anne and Marcus but that gets muddled with scenes in the POV of side characters. I just never got a proper handle on what was happening. Too much information coming from too many directions. Then when they finally did get together it was kind of a snore-fest. For all their heat and attraction things should have gotten combustible.

Most of the steam happens with other characters or in a dreamlike state. Not exactly appealing. I like my romances hot and smexy, but will pass on reading a scene like the bachelor party night cheating menage. Not my kind of sexy. Cheating is always a hard limit for me.

The narrator, J.D.Hunt is fantastic and really the biggest reason I kept listening. His yummy deep voice with a hint of rasp helps draw the listener into the book. He has a soothing and enjoyable tone, steady pace and great voices both male and female. I will definitely be looking into more of his narrations.

This is one of those books that I really wanted to like, especially after reading the blurb. It just never connected for me as a reader/listener. There are however many here who loved it, so if you come across a copy and like vamp reads you might give a go. This is the third book I have read from Ms Hamilton and have come to the sad conclusion that our aesthetics do not mesh. While I often love her blurbs and cover art, the stories never resonate. But this is the beauty of art/literature it is purely subjective. Things I did like other love and things I love others may hate. I am one opinion among many.

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

Enjoyable, entertaining and exciting

If you could sum up Honeymoon Bite in three words, what would they be?

Complexed, Entertaining, Original

What does J. D. Hart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He was wonderful. Made the characters stand out better then others I've listened to.

Any additional comments?

This is a very well written love story with some good vampire characters. Good interplay between all the cast members. Even though this may be the first book of a series, it is a self-contained story. I can see where other characters can play off this book and have their own stories written. I love the HEA concept and what lengths people or vampires will go to insure the safety of their loved one or true mate. I loved the concept that all children born from vampires have the choice to either stay human as there are born or become a vampire. New and very original concept in a vampire book. I was given an audible book by the author thru a book party. This is one of the first audible books that I felt was done very well by the narrator. Most could use two voices, one man and one woman. This narration did not need that.

Interesting as not what I normally read

This is not my normal listen read but enjoyed the story. JD does a great job as he always done. Anne is running from a devastating situation where she finds her future husband in bed prior to their wedding. She takes off and arrives in Tuscany and from there her life takes many unexpected turns. Eventually all get their final justice as well as HEA. If you are a fan of paranormal romance I think you will enjoy. I was given this as an ARC for my honest review.

Vampires

I love vampire's and though this is a different take on the traditional vampire story. It has a decent story line and flows fairly well. Unfortunately this is not the best narrator for the job

Take a Bite

I will start that this story is well written and is full of drama. It hasn’t been my favorite book that I’ve read for the challenge but that is because I’m just not a vamp fan but I do try them every once in while. But if you a vamp fan I think you would love this book. There are lots of different threads of action running through the story. And the drama continues to almost the last page. I listened to the audio copy and the accent of the voices was very well done. So if you are looking for a new vampire series I think you would enjoy this one. #CMCon24

A NON STOP FANGTASTIC PRN LOVE STORY

This book is why I never get bored with Vampires - there's always a different 'version' of them waiting to be discovered and, with this new series, you're introduced to a fascinating Vampire world to get lost in and be captivated by.

As Anne comes to terms with her new husband's adultery on their wedding day she runs - runs from the pain, the humiliation, the sorrow but little does she know she's running into a whole new future. Handsome, sweet and loveable Vampire Marcus is about to give up on ever finding his fated female when he suddenly sees Anne however life is about to play a cruel trick on him and, just when he thinks he has everything, the cruelest of tricks is yet to come.

This is an emotional roller-coaster ride as you follow their tumultuous romance that has lots of drama, suspense, lies, plot twists, interesting and likeable secondary characters, instant attraction and sexual awareness, a tender touching romance, sex, sacrifice, heartache, character development, scorned lovers and secrets. Secrets, or maybe just 'undivulged forgotten truths', are eventually revealed that will have devastating heartbreaking results for the lovers and, when the cat's out and Marcus is left holding an empty bag...... I was left holding the tissues!!

Narrator did an excellent job of providing swoon-worthy Italian accents and giving the rest of the characters great voices too which made the listening experience more enjoyable.

Worth a credit? Whilst this is a really entertaining, unpredictable and captivating listen, there were a few actions that didn't quite make sense, I felt the story jumped ahead of itself resulting in missing 'bits' of information and I would have liked a more descriptive story to draw me into the scenes more. However, these are small issues that didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of this new Vampire species, or the book that housed them. So creditworthy, oh boy is it ever a.... YAYE & a YES and I'll eagerly be watching out for book 2.

Get the shower ready and put it on COLD !!

Any additional comments?

Let me just say get your shower ready, put it on COLD and be ready !! This book is full of Hot Sex - you've been warned... I loved how the vampires are different in this story they are not your average burn in the sun, twinkle like Twilight’s Edward and go around wreaking tons of havoc around the world. Anne is not a vampire slayer in this book which I also liked. I actually even like how Anne becomes a vampire...

How Anne reacts and what she does after becoming a vampire are very well written and you can feel what she is going through as she changes and no it isn’t rip their heads off and drain all their blood leaving behind a slew that mangled dead bodies either. I like how Marcus comes into her life from all of this to guide her for reasons I wont tell (spoiler lol) but like a typical man forgets that women need to know everything and you cant keep parts of it out so yeah he mucks that up. But I promise all will be alright...

The sex scenes are truly amazing.. they are super Hot – nuff said there right... But I must say that with J. D. Hart's sexy voice one can't help but Drool, a lot...

The ending had me on the edge of my seat I was like OMG no way this can not be happening but it was and well all I can say is hurry and get the book and find out what happens to Anne and Marcus... :)
