Publisher's summary

In the midst of a Clan divided, two unlikely allies must confront the passion that binds them... and the treachery that may part them forever

To secure her family's alliance with the powerful Clan Mackenzie, Stella Morrison has no choice but to wed the notorious Kade Mackenzie. Unable to ignore the whispers that surround him, she resigns herself to a marriage in name only. Yet as the fierce warrior strips away Stella's doubt one seductive touch at a time, burgeoning desire forces her to question all she holds as truth.

Leading a rebellious army should have been Kade's greatest challenge... but conquering the heart of his reluctant bride becomes an all-consuming need. Now more than ever, he's determined to find victory both on the battlefield and in the bedchamber. But the quest for triumph unleashes a dark threat, and this time, only love may prove stronger than danger.

Writers should do a little research....

Would you try another book from Juliette Miller and/or Gemma Johansson?

no. I'm not a psychologist, but even I know that people who have been physically abused as children do not enjoy being "whipped" as adults. I personally don't understand why anyone would get off on being abused, but I know for a fact that adults who were abused as children flee from violent physical contact of any kind. Even football, wrestling. Some of the passages in this book made me ill....

Can JM finish a scene without mind rambling?

The story was pretty good but JM goes on and on with repetitive thoughts, so much so that scenes are chopped up almost after every sentence, therefore making it hard and frustrating to follow. Very disappointed because the storyline had so much potential, but it was so exasperating to go through scenes where I wanted to know what was to happen next only to face the same thoughts repeated multiple times. It made it difficult to really get into the book. I also found it strange that the clan didn’t even recognize their laird’s daughters? Don't waist a credit.

Snooze Fest

I've never not liked the main character as much as I didn't like Stella. Maybe it was the fact the entire story is written in first person. It's like listening to a really long letter by a naive and milquetoast with no passion. The only saving grace is the narration. Gemma Johansson did a great job with a nice Scottish accent (both male and female). She did an amazing job considering the script.

OMG, this book was so hard to get thru.

I stuck with it because I was curious how it ended, and even that was predictable. I think this hours long bloom could have been said in 15 minutes. The characters were a bunch of idiots. Definitely would not recommend a credit used one this and would not even recommend it if it went on sale for a buck.

Poor story, poor narrator, poor everything!

What disappointed you about Highlander Taken?

Everything. It was a horrible performance as far as the narrator, and horrible story; oh what story, there really wasn't one!

Would you ever listen to anything by Juliette Miller again?

Never.

What didn’t you like about Gemma Johansson’s performance?

She whines while she reads. Eleven hours of that is best listened to with the volume turned off!

Dont' waste your money

I only listened to less than a chapter. The narrator was the worst I have ever heard. The story could have been decent but the narrator spoiled everything for me and I did not want to continue with the torture of her monotone terrible narrating. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Does anyone at Audible listen to these narrators? I would have given the narrator a negative rating but that was not an option.

Way to Whiny, Slow and Boring!

I had high hopes, but I couldn’t take it anymore! I only got to chapter 6 and couldn’t go any further. First of all Stella sounds like a whiny child. There was no grace and lady present in her character. She doesn’t carry herself well. What a bummer!

Boring and not worth your credit...

I believe the narrator speaks so slowly that the story is longer than it needs to be. Also, the writing is too repetitive and takes too long to get to the next part of the story. I will be returning this book and do not recommend it to anyone else - not even die hard fans of historical romance or the highland lairds.
