Publisher's summary

Phenomenal #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a spine-tingling novel about a female cop who walks fearlessly into danger - but must draw on her courage to let love into her life.

Police Lieutenant Phoebe MacNamara found her calling at an early age when a violently unstable man broke into her family’s home, trapping and terrorizing them for hours. Now she’s Savannah’s top hostage negotiator, who puts her life on the line every day to defuse powder-keg situations.

After watching her talk one of his employees off a roof ledge, Duncan Swift is committed to keeping this intriguing, take-charge woman in his life. Phoebe’s used to working solo, but she’s finding that no amount of negotiation can keep Duncan at arm’s length. Especially when a man throws a hood over Phoebe’s head and brutally assaults her - in her own precinct house - and threatening messages begin appearing on her doorstep. Duncan backs her up every step of the way, as she establishes contact with the faceless tormentor who is determined to make her a hostage to fear - before she becomes the final showdown.

Phoebe stands alone at the HIGH NOON show down

Hostage negotiator, Phoebe MacNamara is called to the roof of an apartment to stop a jumper. That is where she meets Duncan Swift. He is impressed by her sense of purpose as well as her looks and can't get her out of his mind. Phoebe's life is rife with challenges: Single mother, demanding job, agoraphobic mother, and a stalker.

Duncan won the lottery and spends his time rebuilding old properties and increasing his wealth. They are perfect together. He understands her problems and isn't afraid to jump in. She is the glue that holds her family together but her strength is tested when someone from her police department turns on her.

I have read this book several times as I love Duncan Swift. This time I listened to it on audio. Loved that too.

High Noon

This was the same story line as written by her other authors name she uses. I lost interest in the beginning and never got back into the story.

High Noon a Good Reading Experience

I enjoyed the book, just thought it strange how they tried to tie the story to the movie. Liked the Chicago setting.

A little slow but packed a punch.

I know it’s the style of writing that we usually get from Nora, the story is like I said a little slow at times but when the action picks up it is thrilling and makes it almost impossible to put it down. The slow parts are packed with conversations and emotions that makes the characters come alive. All in all I highly recommend this book and I will definitely be back for a reread.
