A WELL WRITTEN 5 STAR ACTION ROMANCE ADVENTURE

If you're a MB fan then you know by now what this fantastic series is all about - some really gorgeous alpha males (mmmm delicious) who risk all to save the world of it's darkest enemies and in the process find true love (ahhh be still my heart). I think this has been my favorite so far, a broken damaged heroine is saved but is it for the right reasons?

Action, tension, great characters both good and evil, a brilliant plot that will have sub plots and, of course, romance and passion. Yep, it's all here just waiting for you to discover the ever-growing KGI family and their team as they take on missions and we discover more about their lives.

Worth a credit? Don't delay - download today - so that's a YES and I can't wait for the next instalment.

Really good addition to the series. Great couple!

4-4.5 stars

This was a really good story. I really liked Garrett and Sarah and enjoyed their story. This was a very good addition to the series and it's my fave so far.

Sarah is a sweet woman that hasn't had things easy most of her life. Recently, her half-brother, Marcus, found out that her ex-boss raped her and he murdered the man. Sarah tried to stop him but when she can't, she goes on the run to trying to protect herself and Marcus from the backlash of the murder. The problem is that Marcus is a very bad man that's wanted by many people for much worse things than murder (and she doesn't realize this because he keeps his business far from her) so when others find out about their connection, Sarah becomes a target.

Garrett is one of the Kelly brothers that run KGI (Kelly Group International), a private company that performs Ops like hostage/kidnap victim recovery & intelligence gathering among other things. He's ex-military and a good guy that loves his family and protects the people he loves. He's contacted by the CIA when they find that Marcus (who is an enemy of Garrett's since Marcus turned traitor and got many of Garret's team killed during a mission) has a sister they may be able to use to find Marcus. Garret agrees to go shadow Sarah to see if Marcus shows up. Garrett certainly isn't expecting Sarah to make such an impact on him.

Even though her rape took place a year ago, Sarah has a hard time trusting men around her. When she first meets Garrett, she's kind of freaked by him (he's so big and strong and could cause her damage) but yet she feels the first niggling of attraction to a man that she's had since the rape. She finds him interesting and watches him out the window of her beach cottage frequently. Garret, while attracted to Sarah, recognizes that she's very skittish and seems to have suffered a past trauma. Due to this he goes very slowly with Sarah, first becoming friends and getting her trust. As they become friends, Garrett realizes pretty quickly that his feelings for Sarah are very possessive and he's getting in to the whole "mine" mindset with Sarah. He decides to keep her safe, keep an eye out for Marcus and try to get through this in a way that he'll be able to keep Sarah in his life afterwards. This becomes harder than he expected when Sarah gets spooked by a possible intruder in her cottage and escapes with hardly a trace. Garrett is forced to regroup and try to locate where Sarah went to.

Sarah ends up in Mexico but Garrett is able to track her down. When he comes back in to her life he can't act like he's just run in to her again by chance so he tells her that Marcus sent him to keep her safe. Sarah is relieved when Garrett walks back in to her life. He was the first man she started trusting again and felt an attraction to in a while so she was sad he wasn't around any more. When he tells her he was sent to protect her, she agrees to go with him to a safer place. While on the move, they run in to some major issues and they're both taken captive by some bad guys. They escape (with some help from KGI) but while in the situation, Garrett and Sarah become even closer emotionally and also physically close as they rely on each other and bond even more. When they get out of the situation, Garrett and Sarah get even closer and share some tender moments. Just when Garrett is getting ready to tell Sarah the truth about everything, all hell breaks loose and Sarah ends up finding out the truth but in a very bad way. Thinking that Garrett doesn't return her feelings and that he just used her, Sarah is crushed and doesn't want anything to do with Garrett. Garrett is forced to go after Sarah and do some quick talking to convince her that his feelings for her are true. Garrett does a very good job though and is able to get Sarah to believe he loves her and to give them a chance, leading in to a nice, satisfying HEA.

This was a really good book. I loved Garrett and Sarah together and their story was well done, a perfect mix of romance and action/suspense. The story was interesting and engaging and I didn't want to stop until I was done. I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up! :D

Constantly on the run...

Having listened to book 2 about Sam and his ways in bed, I found this book wasn't hot enough. But then, there's a reason for it (you will find out). Garret is simply an awesome guy. The brothers' keep getting better. :P

So, once again, certain parts defy logic and don't make sense. But, I'm already used to putting this aside and going with the flow. This makes the books far more enjoyable. Loving the series and am looking forward to the next one.

Definitely worth the listen. Enjoy!

Enjoyable

I enjoy Maya Banks’ books. Yes she has the Alpha male but not overbearing. What I enjoy is that she has males that respect women and want a partnership not a dictatorship. I enjoy Harry Berkeley’s performance and look for books that he narrates. On to the next book by Ms Banks.

Hidden Away

I always think the women in these romance books forgive their men too easily, but in this one, he was justified in everything he did. She was just on the wrong side thru no fault of her own. I'm enjoying this series a lot. On to the next book!

Non-stop excitement

This one dealt with rape, but was done tactfully. The story had lots of action and a growing romance. Lots of interaction with family & team mates and beautiful locales the story was set in. Good narration but not great this time by Harry Berkeley, he forgot to use his female voice a few times & you couldn’t tell who was supposedly talking. Great series!

Pretty Good Story

I liked the story and the romance between Garrett and Sarah was really good. Maya Banks does great romance stories. (Except "Theirs to Keep, not a good one.)
At times this was a bit too drawn out and not much going on during many parts of the book.
The Narrator's voice was way too old and ruined your imagination of how Garrett should look. Garrett is a young man and this narrator made it sound like he was way too old. Harry Berkeley is a good narrator but he fits a Humphrey Bogart smoked too many cigarettes voice, not a young man.
It was a good buy since it was on sale.

Third time is the charm for me

If I hadn’t have bought the first five books in this series during a stacked sale. I might not have bothered to listen to this one. Books 1 and 2 were on the long and implausible side, with too much baby drama and angsty backstories. I found them only okay.

This one was also long and still has an implausible set up to get Sarah and Garrett together. It also has potentially triggering themes for both Sarah and teenage Rusty (who is growing on me, as are the interludes with the Kelly family). Yet, I thought tough-guy Garrett’s soft-touch handling of Sarah was sweet. Even though I generally like my military romances to have more Action-N-Amore, this one just settled in my heart like a warm sunny day.
