But once Gwen meets Luke--a man reputed to be an expert in both words and women--her composure disappears. Now she has stars in her eyes but isn't so innocent.

I have enjoyed many, many of NR's books. I didn't enjoy this one as much but it is an okay read. Could have just been timing for me. I will always purchase her books and give'em a try because she writes stories I enjoy.
I usually like everything I read by Nora Roberts, but this book was a bit of a disappointment. The main character(Gwen came off as very immature and churlish, and she seemed incredibly stupid for acting on an assumption that could have been easily clarified. Since she and Luke had this explosive chemistry between them, how hard would it have been for her to just ask if he had been involved with her mother? Since this is the premise of the entire book, I found myself rolling my eyes several times over the sheer lunacy of it all. And the fact that Gwen blamed Luke for everything rather than taking any responsibility for her own actions was just ridiculous.
The narrator did a good job with the southern accents, but that only made Gwen's southern belle character even more annoying. Not Nora's best work.
This was a really good book. It was easy to follow for a light read or listen. But what really made this book stand out was the reading by the narrator Who did a remarkable job.
I simply didn't like the story. Too damn close to a soap opera. The main female character is beyond annoying. I found myself frustrated. I usually love NRs books this one was a serious let down.
Yes, I like Nora Robert, this was annoying at times. Too much whining and seemed childish at times, and yes! that accent drove me crazy!!!
Yes, I like her as an author.
The accent, it drove me crazy. I think Gwen living in NY for 2 years she could have made her accent better. Her mother was fine because she lives in NO but that accent, ugh!!!!
Wanted to stop listening at one point.
I love Nora Roberts' work. I especially loved the Witness, it was strong, well read and narrated. This one at times was childish and annoying. Very predictable and typical story line. I completed the book but there were no surprises! just ok!
It was very slow and didn't keep my interest. I could have stopped in the middle and never finished it. The story was predictable and not what I've come to know from Nora Roberts.
No. I love me some romance novels. This one just didn't strike my fancy.
The performance was fine.
There were quite a few times that a thought or action was reiterated. After the third time I start thinking, "All right, I get it!"
feeling the connection between Gwen and Luke
Gwen and Luke fishing
neither gave me hope true love can happen
I love Nora Roberts she is a outstanding author!!!!!
Love this story and think is was a good listen, put a smile on my face!
A better story as well as the accents. I couldn't get into the story at all and I love Nora Roberts.
I have no clue. Maybe this was written on a bad day or just the narrator
The simpleton Louisiana accents. It made me think of a civil war plantation house. Ugh
Have no idea I stopped half way through
It was cheap, it's the only reason I got it but I have never stopped listening to a book before. I just couldn't take it. The accents were killing me
This book was good, kept my interest and was worth the price ($4.95). Very typical Nora Roberts book (which is a good thing).
