Jade loves her new apartment - until a ghost joins her in the shower.
When empath Jade Calhoun moves into an apartment above a strip bar on Bourbon Street, she expects life to get interesting. What she doesn't count on is making friends with an exotic dancer, attracting a powerful spirit, and developing feelings for Kane, her sexy landlord.
Being an empath has never been easy on Jade's relationships. It's no wonder she keeps her gift a secret. But when the ghost moves from spooking Jade to terrorizing Pyper, the dancer, it's up to Jade to use her unique ability to save her. Except she'll need Kane's help - and he's betrayed her with a secret of his own - to do it. Can she find a way to trust him and herself before Pyper is lost?

I purchased all three books in this series because they were on sale and I needed a few books to listen to while waiting for a couple of books to be released from series I've already been listening to. I really wasn't sure if it would be that good, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm looking forward to listening to the next two books...
Absolutely. It will be either a great re-listen or re-read. Good story, narration, and characters.
No this is my first audio of hers. She did a great job. I especially loved Kane's character. Very seductive, masculine, and hot.
When the guys are locked in the upstairs apartment by the ghost and he attacks the women.
I got this on a deal and it looked like a like cozy mystery from the cover. Not. Well laid out plot, hints, but no giveaways. Wonderfully supportive characters that make you care. She is a new author for me, however, I will certainly read and or listen to more from Ms. Chase.
Engaging; alluring; sexy
Jade, definitely! She was a complex, yet realistic character.
Her voice was easy to listen to and her representation of the characters were terrific.
Neither, but it was entertaining.
This is a Top Rated Audio Book in my opinion.I Love Deanna Chase's storytelling.
I Loved Jade and Kane as well as Ghost dog.
I would have to say Jade.
I Loved the scene with the Honey Dust. It was sexy and fun.
I love books with a paranormal theme with a touch of romance and mystery and this book has it all. It's a fast pace page turner that keeps you wanting more. I just can't wait to read the next one.
Yes. The book is a fresh change from recent publications. It touches on the metaphysical and the current.
The heroin. Her character development was real.
A wonderful dramatization.
Witches, Angels, and Demons in the Crescent City. A modern day battle between good and evil. A resurrection of the eternal battle between God and Satan.
I have been happily married for 17 years, I have 3 children (12, 14, & 16), and 2 dogs. I am currently working on a 2nd degree. Life is chaotic and stressful, but I wouldn't change it. I am blessed and enjoying my life.
I agree with the other listens that said it was off and on. Some parts where very slow. I think the book could have moved a little faster, it seemed to drag a little. But still a decent story overall. On the slow parts I found my self concentrating on the narrator and realized that some of the voices bordered on baby voices, which is not good for supposedly grown women. I may give book two a try, not sure yet.
Books are the doors to other places. READ!!!!
I love this series. This book was good. the story, narration and the characters were great. I will listen to more in this series. I also have listened to book one of the spin off of this series. Both are great.
I read this book back when it first came out. Listening to it now made it even better! I can't stress enough what you guys are missing. Deanna has created such a wonderful world of characters. I want to live in New Orleans so bad! Kane and Jade make the perfect pair. I liked the scenes where she was teaching the glass making bead stuff. I would like to learn now. Lol. I loved Bea and can't wait to read more of her. The narrator did such a fabulous job on here, especially with all the different voices. Incredible!
I listen as I commute everyday and travel for work.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and all the characters. The mythology of the paranormal stuff was laid out fairly well and made sense. I really liked the main character but I loved her friends more. The narrator did a good job with giving each character its own voice and personality which I enjoyed immensely.
The only issue I have is that it seemed that the final confrontation of the "bad guy" was dragged out and was shocked by how much damage he did because there was no hint in the earlier chapters that he was that evil.
Good story, but slow in places. This is another series I will be reading. I recommend this book, a gentle paranormal tail.
