On the planet Hathor, a powerful group called the Guardians serves as the security force for Novacorp, the corporation that runs Hathor with its ruthless monopoly. Nadira, as one of the most powerful Guardians, is expected to use her intuition and telekinetic powers to keep the capital city safe from thieves and intruders.

Jonathan Keel, son of a mine CEO on the nearby planet, Astarte, is wealthy, privileged and used to getting what he wants. When his father goes missing after a robbery and explosion at the mine, he defies the authorities and heads to Hathor to search for him and for the robbers.

Security is on high alert, and Nadira is charged with protecting Jon. She rescues him from a vicious attack and discovers that the Guardians have another agenda that has nothing to do with solving the crime.

Jonathan finds evidence of his father's possible involvement while his attraction to Nadira forces her to confront all she has known about being a Guardian, especially the rule to put duty before her personal feelings.

Struggling with their growing desires, and chased by company security, Jon and Nadira flee the city. But solving the crime leads them to endure betrayals from the people closest to them, as secrets are revealed that not only link their pasts but also threaten to destroy Jon's family and separate him from Nadira forever.

The storyline was interesting. However, the sex was just thrown in. It had no basis in regards to the story. I'm quite disgusted with that fact. I love and good romance but this was a Sci-fi book with sex added as if to get the attention of Romance readers. It utterly failed. Good thing, I'm a Sci-Fi fan!

On top of that, he's not the brightest bulb in the box & we know exactly what he's being lead around by. Tsk, I really hate slamming on a character but geez he would argue with a signpost! She on the other hand has plenty of growing up to do but has great potential. :-)

As for world building and scene descriptions, they were okay, however, I got lost along the beach. The ending was satisfying and leds well into the next book.

I listened to this via Audible as I'm near blind. I specifically checked to see if it was the same narrator. Honestly, if it weren't, I'd certainly pick up book 2! There are questions I'd like answered. :-) But alas, the narrator totally ruined that possibility. >.<

My star ratings include these 5 elements:
1★ story line
.5★ engaging characters
.75★ use of world building/descriptions
1★ the ending
0★ narration or editing

→This narrator needs to stick to straight up narration. Some people shouldn't be allowed to attempt reading, including very brief dialoging, as a man. It was truly horrendous & distracting from the story.
→She read sooo slooowly, be prepared to bump the speed up to 1.50x to listen at a normal pace
→I'll not read any other book by this narrator!

What made the experience of listening to Hathor Legacy: Outcast the most enjoyable?

I truly enjoyed the voice acting. Kristin has brought the characters to life for me. I love the way she sounds as she's acting the parts and talking to me with such emotion. I feel she's taken on the part of the characters full tilt and draws me into the world the characters live in and the actions happening. She does different voice tones and persona's in the voice for the characters which makes it easy to get a personal feel for the characters and who's who while listening.

And the characters have a growing tension that builds with the events they live through and the closeness of each other.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hathor Legacy: Outcast?

Most memorable is when the characters finally quite fighting themselves on the inside. When the two main characters are staying at a house and they finally let their inner desires through.

Which scene was your favorite?

There is a fight scene where we see the effects of Nardia's powers. We learn that her ability is powerful, but we don't know how powerful until she's in full action. And yet there is hints that this is more than she knew of, and maybe more to come?

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are a few moments in the story that I expected the characters to lie or decline in telling of information. But they don't. I loved that the characters realized they are to trust each other and do. This grows their relationship and shows they are smart in who to trust. You have to trust someone, so pick who's been trying to help you over all.

Any additional comments?

Nadira is the strong one here. The story feels as a flip of roles, in sorts. Nadira is the one on the hunt for the bad guys and protecting. Jonathan is kind of a pretty face. lol. I like this flip. Jonathan starts to fall into the dangerous field of the innocent person caught in the middle of the events happening around him. Jonathan does come to prove himself to be more than a pretty boy. I've come to enjoy reading/hearing Jonathan in the story. He grows greatly.

This book has a romance in it. But the best thing, there is a great deal of story here. This story is not only romance. There is a who story that Nadira and Jonathan work their way through and in doing so the romance blossoms. There is a steamy scene but not as many scenes as I had thought I'd get. Which is right in line for me.
