Harvard's Education | [Suzanne Brockmann]

Harvard's Education

Senior Chief "Harvard" Becker believes that there is no room for women in a combat zone. It's too dangerous, too tough, and with P. J. involved, too distracting. He might respect her sharp intellect and her shooting abilities, but he still doesn't want the responsibility of making sure she stays alive. But P. J. isn't a woman who backs down easily, and to her mind, Harvard has a lot to learn. She just doesn't expect him to be so eager to instruct her on other subjects, like trust, desire - and maybe even love.

"I enjoy All Suzanne Brockmann's Books"

I enjoy all of Suzanne Brockmann's books but what confused me on this one was the lead in announcer saying this book was read by Gabra Zackman, so I was all geared for her and on come Maia Guest. My hope is that by writing this review Maia Guest will get the credit she deserves.
I really appreciate how Suzanne spends the time developing her characters and integrates them into other stories. It makes you feel more close and involved in the story. She is never afraid to write about a political, emotional or social subject. She also doesn't present the subject in a way that turns the reader off. I really enjoy her writing.

Enjoyed the light, fluffy and predictable love story. Nice installment for the Navy Seals installment.

the story was GOOD and I wished I had read the book because I couldn't hear the difference between the men and women. Maia Guest has a nice voice but all female. These tough navy seals sounded like they were taking mega doses of estergen!!!

Not great, pretty annoying actually even for a non-thinking book but not bad enough to return.

"The Dark Chocolate in 'Tall Dark and Dangerous'."

This book seems to move along more, and not as much as the inner debate going on that was a little dragging in the first 4 in this series. Suzanne Brockmann is getting better at writing the more writing she does, and as I love the Troubleshooter series this makes me happy. I will continue on with the series to find out how the other Alpha 10 men get along finding their women. On the audiobook introduction the narrator is Gabra Zachman so Audible is wrong with it saying it is Maia Guest who narrates.

"Another great book in this series!"

I really like how each Navy Seal in this series has such a different background and you may know them from prior books, but really do not know much about them until you get to the book that focuses on them. Yes, I know that is typical in a series such as this, but there have been some pleasant surprises with each new book. Each Navy Seal is deep in their own way and the author examines their vulnerable side while still displaying their macho tough guy side which is exciting.

I really like this narrator - she adds a certain touch to each character. All the narrators have been good, but this one is my favorite.

"Not my favorite in the series, but still good"

I am a big fan of Suzanne Brockmann, so I did enjoy this story, but I felt that the chemistry between the two main charachters, Daryl "Harvard" Becker, Navy SEAL, and PJ Richards, FinCom agent, was not as pronounced as it was with some of her other couples. Harvard, as part of SEAL Team 10, is running a training exercise with the FinCom agents, trying to show that the anti-terrorist work that the SEALs do cannot be done by the FinCom. While there is an attraction between Harvard and PJ, they both deny it, for different reasons, with limited success. I felt like the story was a little slow to take hold, but once it did, I did feel very engaged with these two and really wanted things to work out for them. I also appreciated that Ms. Brockmann portrayed PJ as a beautiful, successful woman who had chosen to wait to engage in sex until her mid-20's. Honestly, I don't think that this type of woman is as rare as many would think, but you never hear about them, especially in such a positive way. So, overally, I recommend this installment in Ms. Brockmann's SEAL Team 10 series and I eagerly look forward to the next one!

    "Another Good Listen"
What did you love best about Harvard's Education?

I loved the humor and teasing among the Alpha Squad. The lightheartedness between H and PJ. This book made me laugh pretty hard and that was refreshing since the last couple books tended to make me cry.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character has always been and still is Capt. Joe Cat. I just love his honest, upfront personality. He may not need to, but he definitely holds Alpha Squad together. He's serious when he needs to be, and hysterical when he wants to be! However, I really like Harvard after this book as well.

What does Maia Guest bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was good! I don't know that she brought anything to the experience, because I have a pretty vivid imagination when reading. But, none the less, she was good!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh...more than any of the others.

Would you be willing to try another one of Maia Guest’s performances?

    No

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I love Suzanne Brockmann's books and will read and/or listen to anything she writes.
However, this one was not my favorite. The story was ok, but the narration was unbearable.
