Publisher's summary

Outside of Titan Group, there are few people that Roman Hart would die for. He's a soldier, a protector, and he's haunted that one of the people he should've been able to protect didn't let him. That was years ago, and now a hardened heart and a cocky attitude are his impenetrable shields, until one woman - one challenge - drives him to distraction.

On the outside, Beth Tourne has it all. Luxury car, gorgeous condo, and a job partying with the rich and famous. It's a plush CIA cover, but she wants more. Anything for an adrenaline rush that can override her guilty numbness and let her forget the tragedy she never saw coming.

Their scars make them perfect operatives. Their mirrored pasts give them deep, wounded reasons to stay alone. But the more they ignore the tension, the more vulnerable they become. Survival means trust. In one another, behind closed doors, and on the job. The only way they're making it out alive is if they find peace while waging a war.

Two pouting downers take forever to get together

What a let down. I was really looking forward to Beth and Roman’s story. So little humor and sass, so much angsty clinging to past heartache. Can’t trust, can’t love again, they’re so broken... wah, wah. Would you like some cheese with your whine? No fun. Even the CIA plot line was slow and took forever to get to the action. Even Kafer’s sexy narration couldn’t save this one.

Oh, for goodness sake!

The give and take between the two is frustrating and unnecessary; being there only to move the story along, with some surprises along the way.
Jeffery Kafer does another great and deserves to be made the official narrator of the entire series.

Finally!

Beth is a deep undercover CIA operative but feels her talents an knowledge is largely being left as unused. Roman is so attracted to Beth, it drives him crazy, and right into the role of her body guard while Beth is given a mission as a test of her skills. But when things don't quite go as planned, Roman must protect Beth but also recover sensitive data from the wrong hands.
It's about time these two stopped dancing around each other and work towards the common goal... a HEA, or at least a HFN.
As I've already said, Jeffrey Kafer's narration is quite a fantastic performance.

Roman and Beth’s story-finally

Not sure how I feel about the CIA being presented as sanctioning murder to prevent embarrassment over treasonous staff . It seems a bit cliche but also less believable given current politics and what is in the news. I do think the Smithsonian connection as a cover for Beth is about as unrealistic as the Scandal convection was given lack of adequate institution funding including the area of tight and highly scrutinized travel budgets! There is fiction and then there is the stretch toward absurdity. That said the plot was pretty good except for the very predictable villains. Lots of action and close calls both in and out of the bedroom. Beth’s issues got tiresome and were drawn out given the number of year but were more understandable than Roman’s. Thankfully Cash and Nic and Sugar and Jarrod can recognize the problems and are happy to dole out advice which at least gets people thinking. More character development with the team, more hints about Delta and the real possibility of injury or death. The epilogue was great! Still wish for duet narration but Kafer does a good job. There is a great opportunity to do a future story about pregnancy and the Alpha males!

Hart Attack

Hart Attack is book 7 in the Titan series by Cristin Harber. This is Roman and Beth's story. They finally stop fighting their feelings for each other. It was a long journey but the finally get their HEA. There is a cliffhanger in this one but not about Roman and Beth. Cash is seriously injured and being flown to a hospital. We are left not knowing what would happen to him. We find out in book 9 Sweet One.

Narration by Jeffrey Kafer was great as always.

Worth the ups and downs

Cristin does it again with Hart Attack. I love that these books incorporate a whole family of characters with updates.

Hart Attack: Titan Book 5

What did you love best about Hart Attack?

I loved the strong, alpha Roman. He had gone through the loss of his sister only to find out she had been alive for the 10 year he thought she was gone. It changed who he was and made him cut off any closeness with those around him. It took him a long time to let go of all that pain and open his heart up again. He was very patient with Beth who kept going back and forth with what she wanted. I wanted somebody to slap her silly!

What did you like best about this story?

It was another great Titan story. Although these are all about the save type. H&H fuss and fight, fall in love, have bad guys after them, etc. It still is a different story about falling in love and having a happy ending.

Which scene was your favorite?

Where everybody was invited to a Christmas party where Roman and Beth got married. Everyone was surprised. It had a lot of very sweet and romantic dialoge and also it was announced that Jared and Sugar were going to be parents. Absolutely loved this part of the story!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As mentioned above the Christmas party, wedding, baby announcement. It was just so sweet and romantic to "see" all these hot, alpha type heroes in love.

Any additional comments?

With all my above comments I did love this book. However, Beth wasn't my favorite character. She was so up and down with what she wanted from Roman. One minute she was almost in bed with him and then about face out the door and just couldn't go through with it. I got really tired of her back and forth routine with Roman. Out of all these Titan stories she is definitely my least favorite female character.
