Publisher's summary

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.

In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Critic reviews

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)

Half Vampire Half Human

Cat, is out to kill as many vampires as she can primarily for her Mother who hates vampires
Cat, who’s out trying to pick up and kill vampires meets an English vampire Bones who is on to her
After their initial rocky meeting they team up as he is a Bounty Hunter for murderous vampires.
Action, suspense, romance, sex and great secondary characters move this story forward and I loved it
Fantastic narration. Beware their this is a series you either take all The way along or stop with book 1 without a HEA

totally dug it!

very good listen. the combination and chemistry of Cat and Bones's characters were fab, I also liked the fact it had romance and action without being insanely hammy, on both accounts . Plus his sweet to her spice, wait no um her spunk to his, her being half magic to his being full vampire, the gruff and all knowing teacher to butt kicking student that takes teacher down a few notches emotionally, wait-no....
I also enjoyed how they took down a few vampire myths in the meantime though.

Every Vampire Cliche in the book (LITERALLY)

What happens when you put Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Twilight, and True Blood together? Download and you'll find out.

The book itself is not so bad, but that awful Bristish/Aussie accent or whatever it is was nothing more than unbearable.

Good plot, poor narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Frost's books are not enhanced or even given their due because of the narrator. Many times throughout the book I would be distracted by thinking of poor phrasing, inflection and accents--her Latino is at times almost non-existent and at others stereotypical. I enjoy Frost's plots and the interplay between characters, but it could be so much better with a different narrator, such as Lorelei King,Jennifer Ikeda, or Johanna Parker.

A dark horse!

Would you listen to Halfway to the Grave again? Why?

Yes. I enjoyed the relationship between the main characters.

What did you like best about this story?

The sexual tension and desire shared between the characters, was electric!

Which scene was your favorite?

The interrogation at the beginning of the book. The name calling was quite inventive and humorous.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not just another tramp vamp!

Any additional comments?

The tittle of the book doesn't do the book any justice, if you were to judge a book by its cover it could easily be overlooked. it was due to an earlier positive revue that I chose the book, and I am glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it, It drew me in and left me wanting more!

Excellent story.

Combination of Dante Valentine and Rachel Morgan. A story line, heroine, and hero worth following.

Love the whole series. Cat & Bones are electric.

Excellent character development, lots of sarcasm and fun to balance the serious parts. It's the first in an excellent series that keeps you wondering what will happen next.
