Critic reviews

“Hamilton remains one of the most inventive and exciting writers in the paranormal field.” (Number-one New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris)

“A sex-positive, kick-ass female protagonist." (Starburst)

“Number one New York Times best seller Hamilton is still thrilling fans...with her amazing multifaceted characters and intricate multilayered world, a mix of erotic romance, crime drama, and paranormal/fantasy fiction. Her descriptive prose is gritty and raw, with a mosaic of humor and horror to tell this complex, well-detailed story. But it’s her enigmatic stable of stars that continues to shine, managing their improbable interpersonal relationship dynamics." (Library Journal)

Lots of action

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES And I Have to so many of my friend and family. The action never stop.

Any additional comments?

After reading the first book I almost didn't go any farther with the series because I was looking for something with a little romance and a happy ending My hair dresser talked me into read the next book after that I could not stop. This series get better with each book. Going from alot of action to a little romance and alot of action to a lot of sex and action.

Vampires, Wererats, and zombies oh my

I read this book so long ago and wanted to restart the series before reading the latest in the series. I figured I'd give the audible version a try. I like the narrator. She uses different voices which I like and she portrays Anita perfectly. I obviously like the book or I wouldn't have gotten the audible version. Love this series. If you like vampires and such- you'll love it. Aaaand it only gets better with each book.

mediocre in the genre

As a Kim Harris fan, I came in to this series with some knowledge of the genre. I wanted to like this but really, I just couldn't get in to it. Specifically, the writing fell flat. Sentences weren't creatively structured. And quite possibly specific only to me as a St. Louis area native, the voicing of some female sub-characters with a supposed midwest accent (sounded very mock-MN, WI, SD etc/police chief in Fargo) that was NOT the correct white person Stl accent - not even close - just simply bugged me. You so rarely have a story set in St. Louis that I've never experienced this before. And so now I feel for all people with regional accents who must experience this phenomenon all the time.

Fair warning this is my first audio book.

Alright, so I have been reading Laurel Hamilton since a nurse gave me Strange Candy in the hospital to pass the time around 2012. That obviously lead me to the Anita Blake series. Which I just feel in love with! I have read them multiple times. Im trying to get them reread again before her new book comes out because tbh, I forgot some things. I know some people don’t like the background noise but I don’t mind it. I thought the narrator did a great job! I loved her! Hope we keep the same one for all the books. But at this rate I’m going to end up going back to reading them by the book because my credits are gone. 😢 and they are so expensive!

But damn if there isn’t a benefit to being able to just pop in my air pods and clean or cook and listen to the book. It’s done in no time. 😂

everything

I have been an Anita blake fan for over 20 years and I finally decided to buy audio books so I could lieutenant to my favorite series while doing things. the narrator does well and doesn't make it sound boring. I really enjoyed the audio book and was happy to buy it. guilty pleasures had always been an amazing story and so the action and the amazing world laurell k hamilton had created has awed me throughout the decades.
