Since the moment I was ripped from my mother's womb, I've been an outcast among my own kind. The Sidhe might possess magical Gifts, unbelievable wealth, and unfathomable power, but I don't want a thing to do with them. I ran away from their lands in the Highlands of Scotland when I was 11 years old, and I've never looked back. I don't need a clan. I've got my own family of highly skilled thieves who mean more to me than any Sidhe ever could.
Unfortunately for me, the playboy heir to the Moncrieffe Clan has something I desperately need. To get it back, I'm going to have to plunge myself back into that world, no matter what the consequences may be. I suppose it's just as well I have a sense of humor. I think I'm going to need it.

Was it a good book? yes. Was plot good?.. not too bad. It kept me interested and would definitely read book 2. "READ book 2". I don't think I would listen to the narrators strong accent again. I did not come across this in any of Helen Harper's other book. Saskia did a great job on them. But I had to concentrate real hard on understanding certain sentences on this one. Which is not relaxing at all. Please just read it how you normally would Saskia.
Also the corny jokes... works for my 10 year old.
Despite some negative commits I found this to be a well balanced book. It contained action, romance and a creative plot. I liked that the book had a good portion of all 3, Which is hard to find. Usually this genre is dominated by sex or no sex and all action. It also felt that it would be a good read if you were 16 or 60. In addition, the narrator did a great job for having a British accent. In some cases the accent can be to harsh and distracting but hers wasn't.
ELLE aka PlantCrone of the Great Pacific Northwest. I enjoy almost every genre-S/F, Action, Biographies and Histories & Romance
I don't know why I bought this book..it must have been a Daily Deal or 'Two Fer' .. in any case, it's going back.
I read YA at times but this didn't hold my attention at all. I won't even save it for my grand daughter, who often takes my YA picks after I'm done.
MY opinion? Save your credit and read the reviews.
If you are looking for a fun quick read, get this book. the narration was well done (lots of great voices), and the plot moves rather quickly. The story is a bit if a romp. Lots of flirty moments, and a heroine a unique sense of humor. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon read, you don't have to work too hard. Lovable characters. This is the beginning to a fun series. The ending is definitely a cliffhanger.
People that are indifferent to casual sex and a lot of profanty.
Good story ruined with unecessary moral compromise and a lot of profanity/vulgarity. People who live this talk and lifestyle are immune, I get it. However, I do not think they would actually "miss" it if it were not present or if it was toned down a lot, and, I believe there is a much larger audience being axed because the casual sex and vulgarity/profanity bring such negative vibes to the story line, I call them "brown clouds". Romance, yes. But the romance would actually come off as plausible if it was built on more than a strong physical attraction which is how the main players come across. I mean, come on, wanting to jump anyone's bones if their good looking? That's how this book comes across. The characters seem so shallow with the dilution of, the missing components needed for enduring love; the deep spiritual and psychological aspects.
I just feel like the author is losing many listeners for no good reason. Probably because some editor is demanding that the material be sex and profanity filled. I would never recommend this to anyone or any of the kids or teenagers in my family, but I would have loved to have been able to. I even thought of returning it after listening to it, but, just decided to let it go and not continue on with the series.
Accent was too heavy. Made it a bit difficult to follow.
Entertaining, yes, Uplifting, no. You won't walk away feeling "good".
The narrator was just lovely!! I think the way it's narrated with the dialect only adds to the immersion into the story. The story itself was engaging and didn't drag, I'm very much looking forward to book 2. Also, the cheesy jokes were awesome, in a nostalgic sort of way. :D
Love that it's not all sex n feelings. We needed the "I got it all wrong moment!"
Here's looking at the next book with hand rubbing anticipation.
narration was good. The story gets better.Im wonder what other gifts Integrity got in the Grove. I have Scott?wish ancestry so this series is quite fun.
Don't fret if you are aggrieved with the slow beginning.
"Unusual and captivating."
I did love this book. it took a little while to get into as I was getting to know the characters but once I did, it moved fast and was quite an adrenaline rush! all I would say is the reading was a little bland. I found that sentences which should have been accentuated by the narrator were at times falling a little flat. That said, it was an original storyline and I'm definitely intrigued enough to purchase the sequel!
omg I loved it can't wait start the next book the story was amazing thanks
"Gripping and entertaining"
A story that draws you in and keeps you interested.
The whole setup is an interesting one, including how society is organised works (or doesn't) for the different levels.
I was certainly keen to get back to it.
"Never disappointed with this author and narrator"
Another great book from Helen Harper. Great imagination and believable characters. Keeps you wanting to read the next chapter.
