Publisher's summary

As a healer, he knows her body. But it's her heart he wants. For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question. But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons---and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdalena, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace. Horrified by his lack of control, he left her wanting and furious---and then exiled himself for the better part of a decade. Now, with necromancers threatening his people---and Magdalena nearly their victim---Gideon must face another truth. He and the beautiful, stubborn Magdalena are destined to be together, to share a love as deep and old as time itself. But first he needs to regain her trust. Then he'll have to save her life.

So intense, I got goose bumps

This story was so great. The chemistry between the two main characters was represented so well it literally gave me goose bumps at times. The world is great and I love learning more about it with each book. I honestly have a hard time turning the book off so that I can have an actual life. I'm looking forward to getting the next one. Unfortunately I have to read some of the other books in my library or they won't get read till I'm through this series.

Another Good One

I like knowing what happens to other important characters in a series. This one did not disappoint. I also loved a background character that was introduced. Her name is the same as mine (Anja).

Very Entertaining!

I was once again engrossed in this otherworldly experience. Jacquelyn Frank has done an amazing job of writing a sensual story of romance and intrigue and Xe Sands has wonderfully rich accents that help suspend you in this world.

It's all about the Narration

The narration of this series is what pulls me into the books, the stories may be over the top but listening to Xe Sands bring these characters to life with the perfect accents and character development equals pure listening enjoyment.

I'm addicted to the nightwalkers

I am devouring this series, it's just that good. Its like everyone of these characters experiences an epic love that is so beautifully told through superb narration. I have not found myself willing to purchase books outright, I usually wait for a sale or use a credit, but I've been unable to curb my appetite for this series. I love all the characters so far and anticipate seeing how each one unfolds.

Xe Sands in a class of her own!!!

If you could sum up Gideon in three words, what would they be?

My favorite kind of male character. Loner lacking social skills; finds love!

What other book might you compare Gideon to and why?

He reminds me a lot Gregory from Christine Feehan's Dark Magic.

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is awesome. I have listened to hundreds of audio books, and she is the best narrator hands down!!! Usually a narrator is good with one gender or type of voice, but she is totally multitalented. She performs the male voices as well as she does the female voices. You can even determine which character is talking before a name is mentioned because she differentiates the voices in a way that allows you to identify the character. The best thing is the characters' voices remain the same throughout the series. Amazing!

Even the great ancient can be redemed & find love.

Would you consider the audio edition of Gideon to be better than the print version?

Yes, Ms. Sands truly adds an iditional layer of complexity to the story adding nicely to the experiencing.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that while Gideon brings his vast experience and grounded understanding of the world to this relationship he is still absolutely able/willing to appreciate his mates' abilities and potential to contribute to the Demon and Nightwalker community.

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I have - I've listened to all of the books in the Nightwalker series which are blessed by Ms. Sands's talents. Gideon is just as enjoyable as all of the others. It is also worth mentioning that the consistency of maintaining the same narrator (so long as it is a good one) really adds to the feeling of coheshion in the series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Sure - there were some laughs and times of poinyency

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth the credit!
