Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Sylvain Reynard comes the first novel in the Gabriel's Inferno series, a haunting, unforgettable tale of one man’s salvation and one woman’s sensual awakening - now a film from Passionflix!

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well-respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption.

When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love, and redemption, Gabriel’s Inferno is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man’s escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible - forgiveness and love.

Reminds me a bit of Fifty Shades

This story reminded me a bit of Fifty Shades, in that you have a lady who is innocent and does not have much money, and the rich, arrogant professor who has a very screwed up past. This is a very tasefully written book, though, and you get to find out a lot about the people who have influenced Gabriel and Julia's lives. The narrator had a particularly male voice, but he fortunately didn't try to make his voice sound like a female. I am looking forward to listening to the sequel.

Love the Snooty Narrator

Where does Gabriel's Inferno rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Its not necessarily a new concept... girl meets boy, who happens to be girl's best friend's older brother. What makes this audiobook great is the "I am so much smarter than you" tone of the reader. I think some people might be turned off by it. However, considering what an @ss Gabriel can be, the reader is perfect.

Unforgettable love story.

Would you listen to Gabriel's Inferno again? Why?

I have listened to this story multiple times. For me, it never gets old!

What other book might you compare Gabriel's Inferno to and why?

It does have a few "Fifty Shades of Grey" elements. For example the vulnerability that Julia possesses can be comparable to hers. Since this book WAS Twilight fanfic then it does have a few similar characteristics as well.

Have you listened to any of John Morgan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first book that I have listened to by John Morgan but certainly will not be the last.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are multiple moments that come to mind. First would be the time that Gabriel finally realizes who Julia actually was and the other would be their confrontation in his classroom.

Any additional comments?

Loved this book! If you are looking for a timeless love story than this one is a perfect book for you.

Wonderful story!

What made the experience of listening to Gabriel's Inferno the most enjoyable?

The voice of John Morgan went perfectly with the story. Listening to the story put you right with the characters.

What about John Morgan’s performance did you like?

Mr. Morgan's voice worked very well with the story. I felt like Mr. Morgan's voice was the voice of Gabriel.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! But it was a story that I wanted to take my time with. I listened to the books over a week. I read the book a few times and I can see listening to the audio version a few more....

Any additional comments?

Gabriel's Inferno is one of my favorite books of all time! I hope to read more by Sylvain Reynard.

John Morgan didn't do it for me

I love Sylvain Reynard's books and read Gabriel's Inferno a long time ago, twice. Reynard's books are intelligently written, and the plot outlines and background settings are thoroughly researched and very detailed.

This time, I decided to listen to the audiobook. John Morgan was good a narrator, but something was missing in his narration. I lacked the same connection I felt while reading Gabriel's Inferno. Halfway through, I finally gave up listening and re-read this book instead. Perhaps, some books are only meant to be read not listen to, and I think I'll just stick to reading Reynard's books.

Epic romance that will consume you

I have to be honest, my first introduction to Gabriel's Inferno was episode one on Passionflix. I loved it and I had to know what happens. I was not prepared for this book. It consumed every bit of my soul. First I have to applaud Sylvain Reynard on her writing style. It was so beautiful. It is obvious that she is a literature lover. She makes the reader feel at home. And this narrator was the perfect voice. He really brought the words to life in a voice that was perfect for the feeling of this story. Now to Gabriel and Julia. Holy smokes! I haven't had two characters make me feel SO much in a while. They made me mad at times but also brought me so much joy. They are flawed like we all are. This is a beautiful story of redemption. A story about forgiveness. A story about coming out of your shell. I guarantee any romance fan who gives this a read or listen will be hooked right from the beginning. Get ready for a few shocks and so many moments that will have you gripping your heart. I look forward to continuing on in this trilogy.
