New to the Nightfury pack, dragon-shifter Mac cannot understand the bond between his brothers-in-arms and their human mates - until the moment he spies Tania and the energy bond between them blazes to life. Driven by a primal instinct, Mac will stop at nothing to find Tania, to keep her safe, to possess her. He has no time to waste: Ivar, leader of the rival Razorbacks, hunts her, hungry for a new high-energy pawn with which to destroy the human race. Caught between the warring factions, Tania finds herself immersed in a world she never knew existed - and bound by a love stronger than time.
With Mac, her safety from Ivar and the perils of the human world is assured, but still she is left with a terrible choice: forsake the independence she’s fought so hard to achieve and reclaim the life she loves, or abandon the man who now holds her heart.

First chapters have too much redundant filler fluff. Basic story was good. Male characters interesting tho the tough guy dialogue is overdone and becomes juvenile, not macho). The main female character is just Too Stupid To Live - but, of course, she does. The things the author has her think and do were just ridiculous to the point that had this been a hard copy I'd have thrown it at a wall. The author intended to make the character seem overwhelmed with love and concern, but the reasoning given for the characters actions were totally vapid. Ugh! I'm a woman and I hate it when an author has the female character act like a total idiot. The book seemed like the author threw it together and rushed the ending.
Just listened to "The Scottish Prisoner," and liked it more than I had thought I would since it was an offshoot of the main Outlander stories so I think I'll pick up another of Gabaldon's "Lord John" stories. I've read all the Outlander series so I knew the basic story in which it took place (Need to have read the first two "Outlander" books to fully appreciate).
Did a good job differentiating character voices and his pace and expression were perfect.
I read the first two of this series and they were better by far than this latest book.
I"m a audible addict. My eyes have gotten really bad so I really hadn't read much in the last 10 years until I discoverd books on CD and Audible. Now I'm a fiend. Other than audio books I enjoy my family, work and dabbling on the computer.
Great continuance to a great series. I love that the author has now introduced the European faction to the story. Which gives us more background for dragon kind. I can't wait for till Book 4 comes out. The narrartor is great with the different characters. He is male so the females do sound alike but the different accents on the males is very good.
I never thought I would enjoy a fantasy book like this but it has been a great listen and very entertaining.... and hot and I do so love the dragon furies.. =].
Start from book 1... this is a series...
Yet another great story from J D. They just keep getting better and better. There are quite a few threads unravelling that I have no doubt will provide more great books. I would have given Ben's amazing narration 5 stars if he'd given Wick back the cool accent he gave him in the first book. It seemed to suit his cranky character better.
I have always been a sucker for men with accents, and the Irish is one of them. Mac is one sweet hunk that I would mind hooking up with. This is a super sexy series and I am hooked. Keep them coming!
All of them
Exceptional, exciting, alluring
Books one & two... Love his reading.
How the story evolved from character to character.
I loved the series. Please let there be another one!
Okay, let's start with the Narration - FABULOUS. This man as Mac's voice down pat. So what I want to hear and is spot on. I can give a little on the female voices cause the guys voices are dead on. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
The story. Mac's story has been one I've been waiting for (okay, I want all the guys since I've fallen in love with them in Book 1) and I wasn't disappointed. I loved how it introduced his father and the story with him and Tania is just beautiful. I love that her attitude is epic and doesn't fail. I also loved the hidden story line with her sister and I can't wait to see how that plays out.
Now, yes....I will say that - aside from our lovely cop in book 2, the female leads suffer from a bit of victim-itise BUT I was expecting that in this book considering that Tania is suppose to be Myst's best friend, who yes by the way - I still loathe. I really have high hopes for the next female leads in the future books.
If you've been debating on this series, I'd say go for it. Couple of things to keep in mind:
1. Female leads in Book 1 & Book 2 - need to get smacked and will drive you insane. Focus on the boys..they'll make up for it.
2. There is no time gaps in her book endings and start ups. Where one book ends, the next picks right up. It's nice.
3. The world of the dragons can be a little off at times but eventually it evens out and is coming together nicely.
4. Expecting BDB? Not gonna find it here. Dragons. No Vamps. Not a one to be found. Leave your BDB comparison's at the door, honestly.
Overall I was really happy with the book and I'm highly anticipating Book 4.
Give me water to swim and surf in. That with a glass of red and the sun. That's heaven.
The first two I listened too were very very good and told an interesting tail with Acion, romance and action. A start and a bottom with very thin body!
Benjamin L. Darcie does an excellant job in the first two books, but in this one, I kept waiting for the story to develop more.
I loved the story and how it leads into the next charater for the 2nd book. Just started reading the 2nd in the serier....
The endings are still a little abrupt but they end with the fact that the story will pick up where it left off in the next book. It gets a little mushy silly in the love and sex department but it has a good story and I can't wait for the next one. I like the fact that it has so much humor and comradery.
Yes, but recommend listening to series in order. This is a good continuation of the charactors of the series. Can't wait for #4.
The introduction of new charactors into the story line.
Where Tania's car goes over the bridge and Mac puts her in a bubble of air in the ocean to save her.
Enjoying the series so far. Looking forward to the next book.
"Doesn't quite come off"
I was really looking forward to the third book in this series but found it disappointing in comparison to the other two. Too much introspection from the main characters made me completely lose the plot - literally. At one stage Mac is running down a corridor and it takes him a whole chapter nearly as she is describing what he is thinking the whole time he is running. I loved the witty dialogue in the first two books but in this one for the first half of the book there are only a handful of conversations, the rest is again, introspection. It is a great idea, the idea is good enough to run a series of books but please don't get bogged down in lengthy descriptions at the cost of the fast pace of the other two books. I will still buy the fourth book hoping for a return to the style of the previous two books.
"excellent and enjoyable"
I love these books they really get you hooked! Fantastic story lines love the fantasy can help get you lost! Love the narrator he does all the voices very well! Very good story can't wait for the next book! 😁
