Publisher's summary

New to the Nightfury pack, dragon-shifter Mac cannot understand the bond between his brothers-in-arms and their human mates - until the moment he spies Tania and the energy bond between them blazes to life. Driven by a primal instinct, Mac will stop at nothing to find Tania, to keep her safe, to possess her. He has no time to waste: Ivar, leader of the rival Razorbacks, hunts her, hungry for a new high-energy pawn with which to destroy the human race. Caught between the warring factions, Tania finds herself immersed in a world she never knew existed - and bound by a love stronger than time.

With Mac, her safety from Ivar and the perils of the human world is assured, but still she is left with a terrible choice: forsake the independence she’s fought so hard to achieve and reclaim the life she loves, or abandon the man who now holds her heart.

Female Character TSTL

Is there anything you would change about this book?

First chapters have too much redundant filler fluff. Basic story was good. Male characters interesting tho the tough guy dialogue is overdone and becomes juvenile, not macho). The main female character is just Too Stupid To Live - but, of course, she does. The things the author has her think and do were just ridiculous to the point that had this been a hard copy I'd have thrown it at a wall. The author intended to make the character seem overwhelmed with love and concern, but the reasoning given for the characters actions were totally vapid. Ugh! I'm a woman and I hate it when an author has the female character act like a total idiot. The book seemed like the author threw it together and rushed the ending.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Just listened to "The Scottish Prisoner," and liked it more than I had thought I would since it was an offshoot of the main Outlander stories so I think I'll pick up another of Gabaldon's "Lord John" stories. I've read all the Outlander series so I knew the basic story in which it took place (Need to have read the first two "Outlander" books to fully appreciate).

What about Benjamin L. Darcie’s performance did you like?

Did a good job differentiating character voices and his pace and expression were perfect.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Any additional comments?

I read the first two of this series and they were better by far than this latest book.

Wet n Wild!!

Great continuance to a great series. I love that the author has now introduced the European faction to the story. Which gives us more background for dragon kind. I can't wait for till Book 4 comes out. The narrartor is great with the different characters. He is male so the females do sound alike but the different accents on the males is very good.
I never thought I would enjoy a fantasy book like this but it has been a great listen and very entertaining.... and hot and I do so love the dragon furies.. =].
Start from book 1... this is a series...

Great story..But..

Any additional comments?

Another looong story but it was good. I'am going to read the 4th book, Fury of Desire, but if there's anymore written I won't continue the series. The books are just too long and way too wordy. I skimmed a lot of pages getting past Mac's feelings for Tania, which were said over and over again in so many different ways, just to get back to the story. The bad guys, Ivar, Rodin, Hamersveld, are really bad, Rodin especially, ewww.
I'm not sure about Nian. One minute I think he's bad then I'm not so sure.
I'm almost positive there will be books on Gage and Haider and Sloan and Daimler and.... but not for me. If the author would write her books without so much BS I would read everything she has but she just writes too much unnecessary stuff. For instance, another author might write that "she got undressed and got in the shower." CC will write, "she bent over and untied her shoes. Took them off. She unzipped her jeans and slid them down her long legs. She slowly pulled her shirt over her head. She unhooked her bra, took it off and walked into the shower." Really? She writes sooo many crazy descriptions of crap going on. You could take 100 pages from this book and not miss a thing. It was a really good story but you have to skim too much just to find it.

As to the narrator: I guess I've gotten used to him because it hasn't been so bad. Male narrators just cannot do women's voices worth a darn but at least Mr. Darcie tries and it has become bearable. I would listen to him again. The guys just take some getting used to.

BDB Re-imagined

What disappointed you about Fury of Seduction?

I had high hopes when I downloaded this book. It was the first one of this series that I got because I was desperate for something to listen to. If I hadn't already read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series I might have loved it and sped through all the effusive detail jabber. Not that this is a bad book altogether, but I can pretty much name every book that ever inspired the author just by listening to this one. There just far to many parallel references to Black Dagger Brotherhood and one backward nod to a Gone With the Wind line that just rubbed me the wrong way.

Would you ever listen to anything by Coreene Callahan again?

Doubt it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The Narrator was great. The character speaking with a east coast accent trying to use Gaelic endearments didn't work for the character.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fury of Seduction?

Since I haven't read the first two books in the series, If I were the editor having already read BDB I would have sent it back to her and had her change every similar reference to this other series. Pretty much every aspect of the book is a direct reflection of the Brothers in Dragon form right down to referring to themselves as "Males" What they wear and how they characters describe themselves, how the characters interact with each other, The Dragons feed off their Females same as the Brothers, it's just energy this time instead of blood.
Honestly I am surprised this wasn't caught sooner.

Any additional comments?

I'll keep them to myself thanks.

Waited for this next book and wasn't disappointed

Yet another great story from J D. They just keep getting better and better. There are quite a few threads unravelling that I have no doubt will provide more great books. I would have given Ben's amazing narration 5 stars if he'd given Wick back the cool accent he gave him in the first book. It seemed to suit his cranky character better.

Mac

I love Mac’s character and acceptance of his world. Tania is another strong female thrust into a crazy world but she finds her footing quickly.

as long as it is, a lot of questions remain

The overall plot in this series progressed well until this one; most things are the same. the evil villain has made no big gains or losses, the good guys make some significant gains in their pack relationships but little else (except of course Max and his woman), and it ends without a lot of retribution. Still a good listen though.

Ok

The angst is a bit too much at times and the ending TSTL drama is a bit overused.
