Publisher's summary

A clandestine race of half-dragon, half-humans known as dragon-shifters lives among us. Bastian, leader of the Nightfury dragon clan, is sworn to protect humankind at all costs. For him, honor and duty always come first. When the clan dictates he take a human mate to sire a son, he falters, aware that for a human to birth a dragon-shifter she must die. Myst, the woman given into his care, is the most extraordinary he’s ever met, and though he can’t bear the thought of harming her, he is bound by duty.

Myst loves her life in the human world, but Bastian has captured her heart in an instant of electric connection. But Bastian and his warriors are in the middle of a deadly battle with the Razorback dragon-shifters, intent on killing every Nightfury clan member - and the humans they protect - the fate of their world and ours hangs in the balance. An extraordinary blend of action, fantasy, and steamy romance, Fury of Fire brings to life a dangerous new world intertwined with the survival of humanity, all while exploring the meaning of honor and the nature of true love.

Not sure if best of both worlds or ripoff?

This book catches a hold of you quick and doesn't let go. Mist Monroe is a house call nurse practitioner who needs to visit an 8 month pregnant woman. When she gets there all heck breaks loose and she is forced to call 9-1-1. Bastion, leader of the night fury dragons knows what the problem is and rushes to get there before the rogue clan of dragons known as the razorbacks gets to these human women. The instant Bastion sees Mist it is game over, he needs her, and she's high energy of course! There is some contrived drama but it wasn't too bad.

Overall I'd have to say this book was good, solid 4 star good, but not great. Is it a shifter book....yes and no. They are dragons....who shift to appear human. Is it a vampire book....yes and no. There is no blood sucking, but they do suck energy from females, and there are high energy to low energy females out there. They call it being hungry when they need energy, oh and generally it's taken by sucking on the neck....but they don't call it being a vampire, oh and they cant go out in daylight...but still not a vampire.

The book had an interesting world, albeit the world doesn't make sense sometimes. For example....if they can see the energy of women why not sit at the mall or a train station and wait for one to walk by? There are a few of those suspend reality moments. But overall I liked the world and am continuing onto book 2.

WHEW!!! That was hot!!!

I'm a new Coreene Callahan fan!!! I could not stop listening to this book. I have purchased the next two in the series. These dragons are hot!!

the narration and study went together perfectly. I could see it as I listened to it. nothing was over done except "for giving the f bomb a workout", but that's completely understandable. I'm hooked!

Loved it, will follow entire series!

Really enjoyed it, hard to put down. plan on following the entire series. I found myself choreographing scenes for a movie, imagining what it might look like even music lol.

Dark-Hunter. Same plots and story lines.

What about Benjamin L. Darcie’s performance did you like?

Great voice, wish they had a female for female parts.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was good to take it in intervals or it would seem to drag on.

Good 1st book to the series Dragon lead gets girl

Lead female character (anglo) is a Nurse practitioner that befriends prego single mom. But, mom is found dying. Nurse/friend saves baby. The baby was fathered by a DRAGON kind (half human half dragon) There are good dragons & bad dragons. The good try to protect humans. Bad hates humans. BOTH NEED human females to breed & suck energy from. So the series starts with getting to know the characters of the two packs. Interesting fight scenes. Good start

Waiting For The Next One

I read the reviews about the similarities to the BDB and I really didn't find myself comparing the two. I love the BDB and consider myself an expert on the series. Sure there are the "mine" statements, references to the latest commercial products, and the brotherhood feel. I didn't find it any different than similar paranormal books I've read. Many are all about claiming their one true love, existing in today's world, and belonging to some group or another. I liked how the story moved quickly. The hero and heroine recognized early on that they wanted each other. Most of the angst was saved for the interim battles and the final showdown. I read these types of books for the happy endings and a possible setup for the next in a series. I got that with this one and will defintely read the next in the series.

Not Quite as Good as The Black Dagger Brotherhood

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I purchased this book during a $4.95 series starter special and definitely got my money's worth. I enjoyed the characters and found the dragon species intriguing but wished the author spent more time filling in the back story of the dragon race. I also found many similarities between this story line and The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. However, Fury of Fire was not nearly as riveting as the vampire version. I am still committed to continuing with this series though, as I really do find the authors version of dragons fascinating.

Interesting Book....Hooked me for series

This was a really good book. I liked the idea and the plot behind it. I will admit that Myst (the female lead) drove me insane with her reactions to things and through most of the book I wanted to smack her upside of the head. But there other points I wanted to address. Some of the reviews on here are saying this is another BDB and a rip on JR Ward. JR Ward isn't the only person to write fantasy/paranormal romance books nor is she by far the best. This has nothing to do with Vampires and to compare the two books and authors are like comparing oranges with apples.

People that are hardcore BDB and think the world revolves around all things BDB and Ward will tell you that this book is not worth it, I disagree. I like the idea of half human/half dragons. The guys in the book are interesting and intriguing. The action is good but it does have some slow points, especially with Ivar and the lab stuff but have a feeling that will pick up in the next book.

If you are looking for a new type of book to read but want to stay in the para/fantasy romance world that I recommend this book.
