Love the series. Not the narrator.

Laurann Dohner's New Species series is an original. I've been reading these books for years and decided to try the audiobook. The storyline is excellent as always and I love the characters and world development so I thought it would be nice to hear the possible voices of the characters. No, this did not go over well. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and this narrator is far from the best. I couldn't get into it. Her tone and cadence would not let me sink into the story. Instead, I was fighting not to get irritated. For some reason, she picks up a southern accent for the main character right in the middle of the story. Like, what is that? The New Species are Human/Animal spliced and have been locked in a facility all their lives. Most of them can not read, and yet she made the character Slade, as well as other characters, sounds like they should be sunbathing in beach shorts surfing along the West coast. The characters ended up sounding childish and corny as hell. It was so annoying I had to pause the story several times and skip ahead just to get the sound of her voice out of my head. I regret purchasing more than one of these audiobooks before listening to the first one. Regrettably, I wasn't able to finish listening to the first one. I had to go back and read my digital copy to finish the book.

Overall the story is something to enjoy and definitely a series anyone can fall in love with. I just can't recommend listening to the audiobook. Read it for yourself. You'll enjoy it more.

New favorite series

This is very different from what I usually read but glad I tried this author. The stories are very imaginative with such a flow. Really keeps you listening. I believe I'll probably read the entire series!

Since i read the black dagger brotherhood, i kinda fell off audible for a while, until i came across this series. I love the writer, but this series is her best as far. I read the whole series ( all that avalible) and thats saying something. If your looking for simple erotica, this isnt for you. But if ur looking for a good fantasy/si-fi romance with good guys and bad guys and startcross lovers that hold ur intrest. THIS IS IT. But fair warning. Its like haveing A pringel. U cant just have one.

Loved This!

Exceeded my expectations. This story is filled with a variety of complex characters, heat- inducing chemistry, an adrenaline pumping storyline, dash of humor that leave you with the warm squishy feeling of love by the end.
Narrator is excellent! Great talent for giving each character a distinct voice!

HOTTTT SERIES....Must Have!!!

Had never listened to LD books, but she is now on the top of my list. Warning!!!!! You will not be able to stop listening. Just when you think the climax has already happen something else happens. LD knows how to keep you coming back for more. If you want action, HOT scenes, and huge dominant new species males that will take your heart, this is the spot. Just get it... you will be hooked.

GREAT storyline and the narrating is very good. I have stopped listening to good books in the past because I couldn't get past the terrible narrating - NOT SO here.
I totally recommend this series.

Breeds/Ghostwalkers, if your a fan this is for you

What made the experience of listening to Fury the most enjoyable?

Genetically altered hot alpha males who are a little tortured and broody and a lot dominant and growly ... yeah its been done before but the truth of the matter is if its done well and it rings your bell then it works.
If your a fan of Lora Leigh's Breeds series and Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker Series then Laurann Dohner's New Species Series will hit all the right notes for you. ( and her Cyborg Seduction Series is on the list too!)
Spend your credit, its worth it.

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that it is a part of a series. I really love series books, revisiting characters your know and learning more about them after their book finishes.

This is my first time listening to Vanessa Chambers.
The narration is good .... maybe not my favourite (Having said that my favourites set a mighty high standard!!) but its good, and all in all worth the credit.

I collect the whole series because series just plan do it for me and I have not been disappointed and am listening to no 4 now.

Half human...half animal....

This listen was ok, lot's of "mounting" and growling. The narrator was good. If you are in the mood for a naughty listen, try it, otherwise there are a lot better paranormal romance stories out there. I probably will not continue on with this series.
